Welcome!! Welcome!!
Officially, the United Nations proclaimed 1979 as The Year Of The Child, but around here we think 2013
is going to be KID’S YEAR…we start off with I FOUND YOU! by Caspar Babypants (aka Chris Ballew
from The Presidents of the Unites States of America) - this is #6 in the Caspar series of albums full
of songs for kids from Chris with friends Rachel from Visqueen and Steve from Mudhoney - cool
beans! We also have two releases from Chris’ friends, The Harmonica Pocket, this month and we’ll
have new ones from Recess Monkey, The Not-Its and others throughout KID’S YEAR 2013.

What’s the commonality between Bottlecaps and Fugs and Velocity Ramblers and Holy Modal
Rounders and Sam Shephard (and offspring) and friends of Clamtones? The amazing septuagenarian
Peter Stampfel of course; crossing boundaries as usual and defining The Sound of America. “It’s 21st
century 19th century American music played in a vast variety of 20th century styles.”
What a delight to have the Six Shooter Records label back with us here at Burnside: Luke Doucet solo
and with bands Veal and Whitehorse; Jenn Grant, NQ Arbuckle, Christine Fellows, Elliott Brood and
other terrific Canadien musicians on the award-winning Toronto label. Good stuff all around.
Biters come kicking and screaming in a Cheap Trick kinda great way straight outta Atlanta. Be the
first on your block to get hip to their kind of trip. And what about the fact that there is finally a
re-release of the classic Spokane punks Vampire Lezbos with some nice extra tracks? And then
Detroit’s Stewart Francke returns with another finely crafted album of guitars, harmonies and songs
about The Love.

The Ether Frolic Mob came about in 2006 when John Cohen (founding member of New Lost City Ramblers with
Mike Seeger and Tom Paley) formed the Velocity Ramblers with Peter Stampfel, Walker & Sam Shepard and
Betty Berkin. Then Peter and John launched the Ether Frolic Mob; Walker Shepard joined, bringing along bandmates Eli Smith and Craig Judelman from the world renowned string band The Dustbusters. Poet, artist and
musician, Jane Gilday, Hubby Jenkins (Carolina Chocolate Drops), Jeannie Scofield (The Boy Bathing), and Zoe

Stewart Francke, Love Implied
Love Implied is the follow up to 2011’s comeback cd, Heartless World, a record that won Francke new fans worldwide
via his scorching duet with Bruce Springsteen, Summer Soldier. In addition to the duet with Springsteen, Francke and
his band carry the momentum of having performed with Bob Seger, Warren Zevon, Chicago, Steve Earle and Stevie
Winwood. “Love Implied started out as a very simple, acoustic music,” Francke says, “played by real people, with real
emotional input. But then it was layered into this lush Wall of Sound with acoustic guitars, a lot of slide playing, and vocal
harmonies. I love the sound of this record. I’m trying to cover a lot of ground when it comes to love implied or otherwise
on this record. I just hope my fans love the varied styles and stories, as usual.”

Jim of Seattle, We All Are Famous
Jim of Seattle makes a lot of different kinds of music. Take some Van Dyke Parks, stir in some Beach Boys, the
Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Henry Mancini, and They Might Be Giants and maybe you've got a start. This is a
surreal collection of animals, rainstorms and the end of the world. Jim has a music degree from a reputable
institution. He has written music for the stage, for films, for Disney. Despite that, he covers a Rancid song. He
also does an excellent version of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star with his formerly two year- old daughter. Jim plays
almost all the music. He does almost all the singing. He recorded it. He wrote most of the songs. This is from
Jim’s soul. Jim of Seattle makes music that is sometimes beautiful, sometimes odd, somehow just right. You want it.

The Love Language, The Love Language
The Love Language is an Indie Pop band from NC whose debut is a story of redemption. In 2007, Stu Mclamb
got drunk, trashed his band’s practice space, broke his wrist, and the band showed him the door. He moved to
Winston Salem. “…with a girl I thought was the love of my life but felt absolutely miserable,” Stu reflects, “We
had unhealthy tendencies like throwing beer bottles at the wall when we fought.” Six months later they call it
quits, Stu pounds a fifth of Aristocrat and wakes up in solitary. Shocked by the shit he’d landed himself in,
McLamb sobered up, moved again, worked hard at a hotel---songs started appearing and he began tracking the
first Love Language album.

Burnside Distribution welcomes Six Shooter Records to our distributed label fold.
Six Shooter Records is an independent record label based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. For over a decade, Six Shooter has
been proud to work with artists across genres, from folk and roots to rock and roll and everything in between. The label boasts
some of Canada’s finest musicians, songwriters and unique artistic souls who defy easy classification.
The label’s artists include Whitehorse (Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland), Jenn Grant, Amelia Curran, NQ Arbuckle
and more; and their roster has received Juno Awards, Polaris Prize Long List nominations, Canadian Folk Music Awards and
others. Six Shooter’s passions for music and good times have driven them to create two new festivals in Canada, the

Melissa McClelland and Luke Doucet tie the musical knot with Whitehorse, marrying their talent and
chemistry as a smoldering duo. The Fate of the World Depends on This Kiss is the songbird and falcon’s first fulllength album. While each album track bears Whitehorse’s signature blistering guitar work and love-knotted vocals,

David Greenberger and Paul Cebar Tomorrow Sound, They like me around here
In a follow up to their 2009 Cherry Picking Apple Blossom Time, artist David Greenberger (best known for 32
years of his periodical, The Duplex Planet) reprises his collaboration with Paul Cebar for the release of their new
CD of monologues with music, They like me around here. Greenberger’s conversations with elderly at Sheboygan,
Wisconsin meal sites, community centers,assisted living and nursing home, and private residences became the
basis for the text he created. Recording with the full band in Milwaukee, Greenberger and Cebar then completed
the work. This is Greenberger’s art: eschewing oral history, abstracting dialogues by shaping them into works
that resonate with shared humanity. Over the years he has worked with a range of musical collaborators,
including Terry Adams (of NRBQ), David Hidalgo & Louis Perez (of Los Lobos), 3 Leg Torso, and Birdsongs of
the Mesozoic; with his next venture being with Robyn Hitchock. Guitarist and songwriter Paul Cebar has been
leading his Milwaukee-based bands for the past several decades.
