March 2015 - New Horizons Club
ISSUE #55 COORDINATOR’S REPORT Activities are all back into the swing of things now. It has been great to see so many people and some new faces at activities. The Carol Tanner Memorial Swim Carnival was a fantastic day at Scottsdale with perfect weather. Thank you to everyone for supporting the event. Congratulations to our swimmers of the meet Aran Miller and Sarah Squires. The Carol Tanner Award went to Katherine Symons, well done Katherine. All swimmers swam exceptionally well and showed great sportsmanship. The volunteers kept our title for the relay, so swimmers you will have to train that little bit harder to beat us next year. LEANNE ARNOTT - BOARD MEMBER Hello Everyone I was born in Scottsdale, and spent all my childhood in the region, moving to Launceston to continue my schooling. During that time I completed my Bachelor of Business at the University of Tasmania and then moved between Hobart, Melbourne and back to Launceston. We have now settled in Carrick and I work for the University of Tasmania in the area of Community, Partnerships and Regional Development. The last 10 years has been a very busy time with the arrival of my now 10 year old twins and my baby boy, who is 7 and no longer really a baby. Sport is a big part of our lives and something we participate in as a family. At the moment cricket is the flavour of the month. In 2014 I also completed my Master of Business in Regional and Community Development as this is what I am very passionate about, building strong resilient communities. Which is why it is such a wonderful opportunity for me to be involved with the New Horizons Club, as this is very much what you all do. I do have a personal connection with New Horizons Club as my auntie, Carol Nicholls from Scottsdale was a member for many years and was given so many wonderful opportunities because of it. I hope that I can make a contribution so that more members can benefit from the amazing work that the New Horizons team does. I look forward to getting to know more of you as the year goes on .
