Betty then founded A.F.E.W USA. About us: History Funds were raised through A.F.E.W USA and breeding herds of 26 giraffes were translocated from Soy to Ruma Game reserve, Lake Nakuru national park and Nasalot game reserve. In 1985, seven giraffes were introduced to Yodder flower near Mwea game reserve However most recent herds have been introduced to Soysambu Ranch, Kigio Conservancy and the Sergoit Ranch in Mt.Elgon region. In 1983, A.F.E.W USA also helped to built the Education Centre that opened it’s doors to the general public and students with 800 students visiting the centre the same year. History African Fund for Endangered Wildlife Kenya limited (AFEW (K) LTD) also known as the Giraffe Centre was founded in 1979 by the late Jock Leslie‐ Melvile, a Kenyan citizen of British descent and his wife the late Betty Leslie Melvile if th l t B tt L li M l il an American A i citizen.
