Specifications: BioShield Clay Paints are self
priming, spatter resistant and have strong
coverage. To satisfy the highest paint standard, we suggest two coats of Clay Paint
over new drywall or existing firm coats of
paint. The first coat being the priming and
the second being the finishing coat. Only
when a strong color difference exists (generally from very dark to very light) may a
third coat be required.
Washability of a paint is a testing procedure that shows the abrasion resistance of
a paint. It generally does not indicate that

a paint is suited for frequent cleaning nor
does it say anything about the resistance of
a paint to dirt, grease, and other contaminants.
For extra protection in high-impact areas
such as hallways and kitchens, we recommend using BioShield Wall Glaze #15:
sprayed, sponged, or otherwise applied (not
rolled!) over a Clay Paint surface.
For bathrooms Clay Paint can only be used
in low-impact areas and areas that do not
receive regular water exposure (such as
around showers and sinks.) In normal
living environments, Clay Paints have moisture regulating and odor reducing properties and they provide optimum breathability.
Clay Paints are no-odor, non-toxic,
no-VOC.
Coverage: 300-400 square feet per gallon,
depending upon surface texture and
porosity.

Color Wash Concentrates
The silky, translucent, watercolor look of our Color Wash
Concentrates adds dimension
and interest to even the simplest
room in your home. Smooth
surfaces such as gypsum board
suddenly come alive. Textured
surfaces such as plaster and stucco take on depth and character.
On a light-colored surface they
will appear brighter, while on a
deeper-colored surface they will
achieve a subtler, richer tone.
Specifications: Our Color Wash
Concentrates are a low-odor
product that should be well
stirred before use. They function best in a thin, uniform coat
and can be applied with a brush,
roller, sponge, or cloth. If desired,

be reduced with up to four parts
water to one part concentrate
(a 20% solution) to create a
range of effects, from subtle to
substantial. BioShield Color Wash
Concentrates work well over all
of our flat wall paints.
Application: Apply with a brush,
roller, sponge, or cloth. When
applied with a brush such as a
wide block brush, use a figureeight motion. Progress with
a steadily moving wet edge
— especially when multiple colors are merged simultaneously
— to ensure professional-looking
results.
Coverage: When applied fill

150 square feet per liter, depending upon surface porosity and
dilution.
Drying Time: Six to twelve hours,
depending upon wall and weather
conditions.

Transparent Wall Glaze
Protect and enhance Walls Surfaces and create your own Color Washes
Transparent Wall Glaze
BioShield Wall Glaze is a highly
versatile and transparent waterborne concentrate that can
be tinted with pigments and
used as a color wash for walls.
Wall Glaze can also be used
with a higher concentration of
pigments to form an opaque
waterborne coating. Always use
full strength in combination
with heavier pigments, such as
BioShield Mica Colors. A clear
seal will stabilize chalky and
highly absorbent surfaces. One
coat dries flat; several coats dry
to an eggshell sheen.
Technical Information: Wall
Glaze excels as a base and bind-
er with the pigments of your
choice. For a thin glaze or color
wash, it can be reduced by up
to four parts water to one part
glaze; (a 20% solution).
Wall Glaze makes an excellent
sealer over BioShield Clay Paint
#12, and Solvent-Free Wall Paint
#180.
Application Notes: Apply with
a brush, sponge, or cloth. When
used as a color wash, apply Wall
Glaze with a wide block brush
in a figure-eight motion or with
various sponging or ragging
techniques.

Made from rocks, minerals, and
earth, they deliver a brilliance and
inner depth that makes working
with them an artistic adventure no
ordinary paint can hope to achieve.
Because BioShield pigments directly
reflect the uniqueness of the natural materials from which they are
derived, variations can exist from
batch to batch, making our color
references close approximations
of the average tone of each pigment. Most pigments provide brilliant tones, disburse easily, have UV
resistance, and weather well.
How to Guage Tones and
Quantities: Due to both natural variations in color and how
aggressively a given base will couple
with a pigment, substantial differences in outcomes will result. The
more white a given base contains,
the greater will be the quantity of
pigment needed to saturate that
base with color. For best results,
be careful how you measure and
always make a test sample. After
you have achieved the effect you
desire, mix the quantity needed to
finish the entire job.

create outstanding effects when
used with BioShield Wall Glaze #15,
Clay Paint #12, Resin & Oil Stain
Finish #3, Aqua Resin Stain Finish

Color Pigments will tend toward
pastels.
Ingredients: BioShield Pigment
Colors consist of fine powders
extracted from earth, rock, and
minerals. Our Sienna, Ultramarine,
and Spinell colors are heated in
order to achieve their tones. Rutil
and Spinell pigments utilize metal
oxides and porcelain clays heated
at high temperatures (800-1400°
C). Caution: Some pigments may
permanently stain fabrics; avoid
contact with clothing.

Healthy Living Paints from the
rest of the pack is not only
how beautiful they are to live
with, but also how beautifully
versatile they are to work with.
The paints apply easily over any
standard gypsum board, sheetrock, plaster, or masonry such
as concrete and brick. It’s also
amazingly easy to apply them
over previously painted surfaces (providing that the existing
sheen level is flat). All of this is
accomplished without the use of
VOCs or solvents.

Technical info: Our Zero-VOC,
Solvent-Free Wall Paint is an
economical, breathable, washable
paint with a high-hiding capacity.
Ingredients: Water, Chalk,
Asbestos-Free Talcum, Titanium
Dioxide, Polyphosphate (a water
softener), Cellulose, Alcohol
Ester, Sodium Hydroxide, and
Preservative.
Coverage: BioShield Wall Paint
will average approximately 300400 square feet per gallon, with
actual coverage dependent upon
surface porosity, temperature,
and choice of application tools.
We recommend two coats, the

Aqua Resin - Zero VOC - Trim Enamel
The purest Choice for a Healthy Trim.
BioShield Aqua Resin Trim Enamel is a solvent-free, water-based, Zero VOC,
low-drip, resilient satin finish paint for interior and exterior applications. Our
Trim Enamel is made with the same advanced paint technology as our Aqua
Resin Stain Finish #33. Minimal odor, low drip and quick drying. The current
color palette consists of 28 colors.

color chart which includes 28 handmade swatches showing the actual color.

need occasional to regular cleaning. Use only non-abrasive, mild
soap cleaners.
Number of Coats: Two-to-three.
Tools: High quality brush, foam or mohair roller and paint tray.
Paint can also be applied with high quality spray equipment.

Aqua Resin Stain Finish
Embrace Purity and Zero out the VOC
BioShield Healthy Living Aqua Resin Stain Finish is a solvent-free, water-based, z ero VOC, low-drip, resilient
wood stain finish for interior applications. Aqua Resin Stain Finish is made from non-toxic and natural raw
materials that are harmless to the environment and waterways. The finish is completely solvent-free.
Specifications: Easy to apply, low drip, low splash. Excellent weathering, high bondability, fast drying. Colors are
light-stable and UV resistant. Aqua Resin Stain Finish does not contain biocides and will not prevent discoloration of wood due to fungus or mildew.
Application Areas: BioShield Aqua Resin Stain Finish is for interior wood surfaces such as windows, doors,
wood paneling and, other architectural woodwork.
Application: Aqua Resin Stain Finish has a gel-like consistency and needs to be
stirred before use. Apply by brush, foam brush, fine roller, or sprayer (Airless
or Aircoat) at temperatures above 8o C (46o Fahrenheit). Apply one thinneddown coat (10% - 15% of water) for priming, then two coats full strength.
Tools: Brush, fine roller, or sprayer (Airless or Aircoat). Wash tools with warm
water and soap immediately after use.
Coverage: 120-150 square feet per liter, depending on surface characteristics
and wood type.
Drying Time: Dependent on temperature and moisture, the finished surface
should be dry-to-touch after 15-30 minutes, and may be sanded after one to
two hours. Refinish after a minimum of one to two hours drying time.

The first thing you’ll notice about our Healthy Living Penetrating Oils is what you
won’t notice: that harsh petroleum smell. That’s because there isn’t any. Instead of
potentially harmful chemicals, our penetrating oils are crafted from Linseed Oil, plant
derivatives, and other healthy ingredients. And just as important, our Healthy Living
Oil Finishes are the easiest finishes to apply so everyone can achieve great results.

BioShield Oils create breathable and elastic, water-resistant coatings that enhance the
natural beauty of any wood and keep your home healthy—whether you use them on
the interior or exterior.
Specifications: We have a range
of oils from clear to amber that
are suitable for practically every
application. For your food service
applications such as bowls, utensils,
kitchen counters and other surfaces, we recommend our Herbal
Oil #2. Extremely dry and other
highly-absorbent woods should first
be treated with Penetrating Sealer
#5. For less absorbent surfaces and
hardwoods in good condition, use
our Primer Oil #1.

Application: For best results, apply
using a pad applicator or brush. Oil
also can be used for spraying or
dipping. Surfaces should be sound,
dust free, and free of contaminants
such as mildew, oil, and grease. The
maximum moisture content for
softwoods should not exceed 18
percent, and hardwoods should not
exceed 12 percent moisture. Very
resinous woods such as teak must
be cleaned with BioShield Citrus
Thinner, and other exotic woods
should be wiped with an alcohol
thinner (ethanol).
For best results, apply oils with a
professional-quality, natural bristle
brush. Allow to penetrate for
approximately 25 minutes, then
wipe off any excess with a soft,
absorbent, lint-free cotton cloth.
Repeat process 24 hours later.
Coverage: Approximately 100 to
150 square feet per liter, depending
on the rate of absorbency and the
surface texture.

Resin & Oil Stain Finish is stain and finish in one.
It has exceptional coverage, and will reveal and
enhance the natural attributes of surfaces made of
wood, stone, and clay. It will colorize and preserve
interior and exterior architectural woodwork
such as doors and windows, moldings and trim,
stairways and balustrades, furniture, cabinetry, and
mantelpieces. It is appropriate for large details
such as porches, floors, wood siding, greenhouses,
and log homes. You may also want to consider it
for rejuvenating exterior woods that have been
bleached and grayed by the sun. Resin & Oil Stain
Finish will provide UV protection (with the exception of #3-00 Clear), and build an elastic, waterresistent finish that will weather well. It can be
used to help preserve garden accessories, and will
also perform well on masonry such as stone tiles,
clay pots, and the like. Use it on your decorative
objects and for antiquing furniture. It dries to a
low eggshell sheen.
