Are all the flags in this catalog made in the U.S.A.?
All of the American, State, Armed Forces, International and Religious flags and all of our patriotic decorations are made in the
U.S.A. with materials that are domestic in origin. Some of our Special Interest products such as the Officially Licensed sports
team flags are imported. Unless it is noted on the catalog page on which they are sold, the flags are made in the U.S.A.
How are your flags made?
We manufacture our flags using the best methods of 21st century technology. U.S. flags are manufactured with advanced
stand-up sewing production techniques; state, international and custom flags are digitally printed and screen-dyed to exact
official color specifications; our in-house research and testing laboratories, together with the art department, are constantly
monitoring dye formulas to ensure accuracy of the colors.
What is the significance of fringe on U.S. flags and other flags?
There is no significance to fringe on a flag. It is purely decorative.
Should the U.S. Flag always be folded in a triangle?
Folding the U.S. Flag in a triangle shape bestows honor and respect upon the flag. There are many traditional flag folding
ceremonies that conclude by folding the flag into a triangle shape however, there is no one official or “correct” ceremony.
The Flag Code of the United States mentions that the U.S. Flag should be handled with respect but does not mandate folding
the Flag into any particular shape.
What is the proper order in which to display the State flags?
State flags should be displayed from left to right, in the order that the states were admitted to the union, followed by the
territories in the order that they became territories.

What is the proper order in which to display the Armed Forces flags?
When the flags of the five services are displayed together, protocol requires that they appear (from the standpoint of an observer
facing them) arranged from left to right in the following order, Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard.

What is the Proper Display of the POW-MIA flag?
When displayed from a single flag pole, the POW/MIA flag should fly directly below, and be no larger than, the United States flag.
If on separate poles, the U.S. flag should always be placed to the right of other flags. On the six national observances for which
Congress has ordered display of the POW/ MIA flag, it is flown as second in order of precedence.

The Bennington Flag is the only one of the
“Flags of Our Country” that was never an official American flag.
Gonzales Flag
The Gonzales flag, originally designed in 1835, has once again become popular. The flag traces its origins
to a minor skirmish, the Battle of Gonzales, during the Texas revolution. The Mexican government had
originally given a small cannon to the colony of Gonzales to protect itself against raids by Comanche
Indians six years earlier and during the revolution was attempting to take back the cannon. The people
of Gonzales successfully resisted the Mexican troops and created the handmade Gonzales flag to wave
during the battle with the Mexicans, sending a
message to “Come and Take It”.

With our three Reggiani high-speed digital presses we operate the most state-of-the-art digital printing facility in the United States.Our press
operators are experts in the advanced printing process required to print custom graphics onto durable, weather-resistant nylon fabrics. In this
three-step process, custom formulated acid-dyes are jet-penetrated into the nylon, then steam-set to activate the color and lock the pigment
into the fabric. In the final step the fabrics are washed and inspected against provided art for accuracy and correct PMS color matching.

& Construction Multiplier Chart.

Artwork Preparation
In order to obtain the best reproduction of your artwork, logo and graphics, it is important that all electronic artwork be prepared properly. In
general, raster images (bitmapped jpg, tiff or PhotoShop files) need to be provided full-size and at a minimum resolution of 150 ppi. Vector art
(ai, eps or pdf files) should be created either full-sized or in scale according to the dimensions/proportions of the flag or banner involved.
Pantone® color matching is an integral part of our process so please specify PMS colors when necessary.
If your art is not print ready, or if assistance is required to create your artwork, our creative team is available, at an additional cost, to assist you in
creating original artwork or adapting your artwork to a desired flag or banner.
Submitting Artwork for Anco-Dyed Printing:
Vector Art should be created to scale. Fonts converted to outlines. Uncoated PMS colors specified as necessary. Accepted formats: .ai, .eps, or PDF. Color mode: RGB
Raster Art should be created full size at a minimum of 150 ppi. PhotoShop or Tiff formats are preferred . JPEG files may be used, but can result in diminished results
due to image compression. Raster files are printed as-is, unless formatted as an RBG Indexed file with no more than 25 colors. In this format, color changes can be
made if necessary.
Submitting Artwork for Applique:

Art Creation Charges:
Art Charges are billed at $100 per hour. To create print-ready art, a clear image is
required with colors indicated as necessary. A color rendering of the created art will
be provided for approval.
Note: we make every effort to match colors as closely as possible, but for specific
colors PMS numbers are required. If PMS numbers have not been specified we
cannot be held responsible for color matches once an item is manufactured.

Small Aluminum Poles
TANGLE FREE SPINNING POLES
Five or six feet long, these poles are available in either a brushed aluminum or
white finish. The top forty inches of the pole rotates on ball bearings so the flag
will always hang free. There is no need for an unfurling tube.
Each pole is supplied with a ball top, two flag fasteners for flying a traditional
flag with grommets and also with a snap and swivel ring for displaying banner
type flags with pole sleeves. All models will fit one-inch brackets.

Bulldog - Heavyweight cotton spun from sturdy 2-ply carded
yarns. Vat dyed in limited colors. Bulldog fabric is most often
used today when recreating an authentic historical look and
feel of a time gone by. Replaces Defiance.
Colonial Nyl-Glo - Describes flags made of 200 Denier
SolarGuard® Nylon for indoor or parade use featuring flannel
lined pole headings, Velcro tabs and Golden Yellow fringe.
Det-Glo - This 4 oz. Polyester Knit material has an open
weave and a high sheen. Strong and sturdy, Det-Glo’s
resilient memory stretch and glossy apperance makes it
a good choice for outdoor display.
Empire Brand - Lustrous silk-like, Empire brand Flags are
Lightweight 70 Denier Nylon, Anco-dyed in brilliant colors
from 4 x 6 inches up through 24 x 36 inches.

special parachute cloth treatment reduces sun and

Flag Folding
FOLDING THE FLAG
NATIONAL FLAG FOUNDATION'S FLAG FOLDING CEREMONY
The custom of folding the United States Flag into the shape of a triangle
bestows unique honor and respect upon the Flag. National Flag Foundation,
the Naval Library, the Institute of Heraldry and several other sources have
searched for documentation on flag folding, but detailed information
regarding its origin remains unknown. NFF and Dr. Harold Langley,
former curator at the Smithsonian Institution, theorize that the
practice probably developed during World War I when
patriotism was high and the United States Flag was
universally embraced as a national symbol.
National Flag Foundation presents its own special flag folding ceremony,incorporating several of
the virtues attributed to the colors of the Flag as specified in 1782 by Charles Thomson,then
Secretary of Congress.National Flag Foundation recommends that this ceremony be read prior
to the actual folding of the flag.
The first fold stands for liberty.In America,we are free to own property,to elect our government representatives,to attend the church of our choice,to openly disagree,to travel freely without restriction,to pursue an education and the "American Dream".The white stripes of the Flag
symbolize our liberty.
The second fold represents unity.Abraham Lincoln stated that a house divided against itself
cannot stand.National unity in the face of natural disasters and external threats,such as those
posed on September 11,2001,has preserved our constitutional republic.
The third fold stands for justice.In America we believe that every person stands equal before
the law and is deserving of just and fair treatment.The laborer and the lawyer are both entitled
to justice in America.The blue of the Flag embodies justice.
The fourth fold symbolizes perseverance.To persevere means to endure,to remain steadfast
despite severe hardship and obstacles.The Continental Army suffered repeated setbacks before
claiming any significant victory.Yet throughout the brutal winter of 1777 at Valley Forge,they
persevered.
The fifth fold represents hardiness.Hardiness is the ability to withstand difficulty while remaining resolute despite adversity.The aggressors in World War II underestimated American hardiness.They thought that Americans were soft,incapable and unwilling to endure hardship.Our
soldiers and sailors such as those who fought at Normandy and in Korea proved them wrong.
1. Fold the Flag in half lengthwise.
2. Repeat,fold in half lengthwise again,being careful that
the blue field is on the outside.
3. As one person holds the Flag by the blue field,another
makes a triangular fold in the opposite and continues to
make triangular folds until the entire flag is in a triangle.
4. Tuck the loose edge of the Flag into the pocket formed
by the folds so that only the blue field and white stars
are visible.
The sixth fold stands for valor.Valor means courage,the act of defending what is right even in
the face of opposition.Nathan Hale,the Revolutionary War patriot,was convicted of spying by
the British in 1776.Before he was hanged,Hale displayed great valor with his words,"I only
regret that I have but one life to give for my country." The red color in the flag represents valor,
symbolic of the blood shed by all the American heroes who sacrificed for our freedom.
The seventh fold symbolizes purity.A pure nation is free from taint,from what weakens,pollutes or renders it ineffective.Our Founding Fathers illuminated freedom's path for us when they
created the Declaration of Independence,the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.The pure intent
of these documents enabled the United States of America to become the greatest of all nations,
a land of liberty which beckons to all who are seeking asylum from persecution and oppression.
The eighth fold represents innocence.Innocence implies that one is unacquainted with evil and
is thus free from sin.George Washington once stated,"The love of my country will be the ruling
influence of my conduct." Americans pay tribute to him and to all those who give devoted service to uphold freedom's ideals without selfish or evil motivations.
The ninth fold signifies sacrifice.To sacrifice is to give up something valued for an ideal,belief
or goal.America exists today because of the sacrifices of countless Americans.Many have
made the ultimate sacrifice of their lives in battles waged during the Revolution,the World Wars,
in Korea,Vietnam,the Gulf War,Afghanistan and other locations around the world.We pay tribute to them and to the firefighters,policemen,soup kitchen volunteers,members of our armed
forces and numerous others who continue to sacrifice for freedom.
The tenth fold stands for honor.One who possesses honor possesses a keen sense of ethical
conduct.To honor a person or ideal is to display respect for them.We give thanks for all who
have acted with honor in the founding and growth of America.We pray that each citizen and all
those who represent us in government will conduct themselves in a manner that will continue to
bring honor to our nation and to our Flag.
The eleventh fold symbolizes independence.Independence is the state of being free,of being
able to make unrestricted choices within the law as free individuals and as a free nation.Ever
since our nation’s birth,Americans have fiercely defended their independence against all oppressors.Patrick Henry articulated the sentiments of his fellow Americans past,present and future
when he uttered those famous words,"Give me liberty,or give me death." America stands as
an icon of freedom and independence for the oppressed of the world.May it always remain so.
The twelfth fold represents truth.Truth is the body of real events and facts.It is preserved
through adherence to reality and the avoidance of falsehoods.America was built upon God-given
truths articulated in the Declaration of Independence "that all men are created equal,that they
are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights,that among these are life,liberty,
and the pursuit of happiness." Adherence to these truths has made America a great nation.We
pledge to continue this noble legacy of truth so that in America,every man woman and child may
forever be free.

Flag Etiquette
GENERAL DISPLAY
It is the universal custom to display the flag only from sunrise to sunset on buildings
and on stationary flagstaffs in the open. However, when a patriotic effect is desired, the
flag may be displayed twenty-four hours a day if properly illuminated during the hours
of darkness.
1. When displayed either horizontally or vertically against a wall, the union should be
uppermost and to the flag’s own right, that is, to the observer’s left. When displayed in a
window, the flag should be displayed in the same way, with the union or blue field to the
left of the observer in the street.
No other flag or pennant should be placed above, or, if on the same level, to the right of
the flag of the United States of America, except during church services conducted
by naval chaplains at sea; for personnel of the Navy; when the church pennant may
be flown above the flag.
No person shall display the flag of the United Nations or any other national or
international flag equal, above, or in a position of superior prominence or honor to,
or in place of, the flag of the United States at any place within the United States or any
Territory or possession thereof; Provided, that nothing in this section shall make unlawful
the continuance of the practice heretofore followed of displaying the flag of the United
Nations in a position of superior prominence or honor, and other national flags in positions
of equal prominence or honor, with that of the flag of the United States at the headquarters
of the United Nations.

2. When flags of States, cities, or localities, or pennants of societies are flown on the
same halyard with the flag of the United States, the latter should always be at the peak.
3. When the flags are flown from adjacent staffs, the flag of the United States should be
hoisted first and lowered last. No such flag or pennant may be placed above the flag of
the United States or to the United States flag’s right.

4. The flag of the United States of America, when it is displayed with another flag against
a wall from crossed staffs, should be on the right, the flag’s own right, and its staff should
be in front of the staff of the other flag.
5. The flag of the United States of America should be at the center and at the highest
point of the group when a number of flags of States or localities or pennants of
societies are grouped and displayed from staffs.
6. When flags of two or more nations are displayed, they are to be flown from separate
staffs of the same height. The flags should be of approximately equal size. International
usage forbids the display of the flag of one nation above that of another nation in time of
peace.
CHURCHES & AUDITORIUMS
7. When used on a speaker’s platform, the flag, if displayed flat, should be displayed
above and behind the speaker. When displayed from a staff in a church or public
auditorium, the flag of the United States of America should hold the position of
superior prominence, in advance of the audience, and in the position of honor at
the clergyman’s or speaker’s right as he faces the audience. Any other flag so displayed
should be placed on the left of the clergyman or speaker or the right of the audience.

HALF-STAFF
The flag, when flown at half-staff, should be first hoisted to the peak for an instant and
then lowered to the half-staff position. The flag should be again raised to the peak before
it is lowered for the day. On Memorial Day, the flag should be displayed at half-staff until
noon only, then raised to the top of the staff. By order of the President, the flag shall be
flown at half-staff upon the death of principal figures of the United States Government
and the Governor of the State, territory or possession, as a mark of respect to their
memory. In the event of the death of other officials or foreign dignitaries, the flag is to be
displayed at half-staff according to Presdential instructions or orders, or in accordance
with recognized customs or practices not inconsistent with law.
In the event of the death of a present or former official of the government of any
State, territory or possession of the United States, the Governor of that State, territory or
possession may proclaim that the National flag shall be flown at half-staff.
NOTE: the U.S. flag should always be on its own right in
relation to other flags on adjacent staffs – to the left of
the observer – except when displayed as in #5.
