STAMPEDERS FOUNDATION
ANNUAL REPORT
The Stampeders Foundation is a community and
charitable initiative dedicated to improving the lives
of Calgarians and Albertans in both Central and
Southern Alberta.
The Stampeders Foundation consolidates and
strengthens the club’s many charitable endeavours,
enabling the organization to build upon its longstanding commitment to the community.
Through the annual Stampeders poker tournament,
50/50 ticket sales at Stampeders home games and
other fundraising initiatives, the Foundation supports
grassroots and amateur football programs and
education as well as health and wellness projects.
The Stampeders Foundation is the charitable
arm of the Calgary Stampeder Football Club.
The Foundation’s mission is to improve the lives
of Calgarians and Albertans in both Central and
Southern Alberta through grassroots and
minor football and education, as well as health
and wellness projects.
VISION
The Stampeders Foundation works towards
a healthier and brighter future for people in
Central and Southern Alberta.
The entire Stampeders organization takes great pride
in giving back to the community. The players annually
contribute hundreds of hours of their time, while
the Outriders cheer team last season completed
more than 2,000 hours of community service and
charitable work.

Each year the Calgary Stampeders organization
through the Stampeders Foundation provides countless
contributions to programs in the city of Calgary,
and throughout Central and Southern Alberta. The
Stampeders charitable efforts support three key areas:
Grassroots and minor football
Health and wellness programs
Special initiatives led by
Stampeders community partners
PINK POWER

Every October, the Calgary Stampeders Football Club partners
with the Canadian Cancer Society in the execution of ‘Pink Power,’
a tremendous fundraiser for women’s cancer awareness. Pink
Stampeders merchandise is sold at McMahon Stadium during
a selected Stampeders home game, with 100% of the proceeds
going to the Canadian Cancer Society.
As a result of this program in 2015, the Calgary Stampeders issued
a cheque in the amount of $31,324 to the Canadian Cancer Society.
JR. S TAMPS C AMP
Jr. Stamps Camp is a day when Stampeders rookies head to a Central
or Southern Alberta town to run kids through a series of football drills
and sign autographs. The camp is in support of the local minor football
association and local KidSport chapter.
Stampeders players were joined by President Gordon Norrie, Head Coach
and General Manager John Hufnagel, members of the Stampeders
Outriders dance team, and Ralph the Dog—the team’s mascot.
The Stampeders have a long-standing relationship with KidSport that
started with a skills camp held annually in Calgary. The program has now
expanded into other markets in Stampeders country throughout Central
and Southern Alberta.

JUNIOR FOOTBALL

This past season, the Calgary Stampeder Football Club through
the Stampeders Foundation donated $122,900 to the Calgary
Colts Junior Football Association. The proceeds will go towards the
administration and operational costs of running a junior football program.
The Calgary Colts are members of the Canadian Junior Football
Association and play in the Prairie Football Conference. The entire
Colts roster and coaching staff volunteered their time during the 2015
football season, selling 50/50 tickets at Stampeders home games.

FOOTBALL A SSOCIATION

The Calgary Stampeder Football Club through the Stampeders
Foundation presented the Calgary Bantam Football Association
with a cheque in the amount of $122,900. The proceeds will
go towards the administration and operational costs of running
bantam football programs in the city.
The Calgary Bantam Football Association is made up of 13 teams
throughout Calgary. Bantam football player volunteers sold 50/50
tickets at Stampeders home games in 2015.

DINOS FOOTBALL

The Stampeders Foundation presented the University of Calgary Dinos
football club with a donation in the amount of $40,000 in 2015. The
contribution was generated through the Calgary Stampeders 50/50 draws.
The Calgary Dinos play university football in the Canada West division of
Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) Football. They are consistently one
of the nation’s highest ranked teams. The contribution from the Calgary
Stampeders assists the Dinos with the operating costs of running a
premier post-secondary football program.

ENDOWMENT FUND
Also in support of the Dinos football program, the Stampeders Foundation
this season donated $100,000 to the John Forzani Memorial Athletic
Awards Endowment, which will support awards for students who are
members of the Dinos football team.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL

In 2015, the Calgary Stampeder Football Club through the Stampeders
Foundation provided the Calgary Senior High School Athletic Association
(C.S.H.S.A.A.) a cheque in the amount of $10,000.The proceeds will help pay
for the operational costs of running high school football programs in Calgary.
One of the significant features of Calgary high school football is preferred
playing venues such as Shouldice Park and McMahon Stadium, which are
made affordable due in part to this contribution.
The Stampeders organization also supports varsity coaches with quality game
film and assistance from the team’s equipment supervisor and coaching staff.
The C.S.H.S.A.A. is made up of 40 high school junior and senior football teams
throughout the city of Calgary.

The inaugural Stampeders Ambassadors Charity Poker Tournament took place
on October 26, 2015 at the Grey Eagle Resort and Casino in support of the
Stampeders Foundation.
Registration for this annual event is open to the public with each poker table
featuring an exclusive member of the Calgary Stampeders. A silent auction,
buffet dinner and Outriders cheerleader performance also highlight the function.
Last year’s tournament raised $50,000 to support minor football and numerous
health and wellness projects in nearby communities. Players including Bo Levi
Mitchell, Charleston Hughes and Rene Parades were in attendance in addition
to various members of the coaching staff, including John Hufnagel, Head Coach
and General Manager.
