CAL PAC CAMPS and retreats
The mission of Cal Pac United Methodist Camps and Retreats is “inspiring the world as passionate
followers of Jesus Christ so that all may experience God’s life-giving love.” Camp and retreat ministry
events offer enriching, life-changing experiences for all who participate.
The Cal Pac Summer Camp programs are offered at five locations throughout Southern California and
are accredited by the American Camp Association. Our staff are screened, trained and provide a mix
of volunteer and paid leadership from the perspective of various ages, cultures and experiences. Our
staff focus on the well-being of the camper first and provide wonderful role-models and mentors for the
participants.
The model is a biblically-based experience of Christian community in the outdoors for a week (3 days for
younger elementary). Time is spent building RELATIONSHIPS with God and one another through small
groups, Bible study, worship, games, hiking, swimming, archery, challenge courses, singing, campfires
and great meals. Campers will have FUN as they grow in faith and self-esteem, learn leadership and
interpersonal skills with peers and adults, and continue on the path of discipleship as they return home.
Our camp programs are open to all kids going into 1st grade through graduating 12th grade. Cal Pac
Camps and Retreats does not discriminate based on race, color, sex (including gender and pregnancy), age,
marital status, national origin, disability (physical or mental), sexual orientation, medical condition, genetic
characteristics, or any other basis prohibited by applicable law.
Each of our events are age-appropriate and offer a variety of challenging and inspiring experiences each
day. The goal is for the camper to: Learn to Live in Christian Community; Grow In One’s Spiritual Journey;
Develop Appreciation for and be good Stewards of Creation; Grow in Self-Esteem & Confidence; Develop
Personal Skills; and Develop as Leaders.

WHAT HAPPENS AT CAMP...
Morning Watch
Start the day with a morning devotional. The day theme,
verse, bible story is introduced.
Morning Worship/Input
Campers get their groove on in praise and worship
songs. They also get a more in depth look at the
day theme through skits, crafts, interactive activities,
personal testaments and more.
Family Group
Family groups are small groups of 8-10. In family groups,
campers get to know each other on a personal level, they share of
themselves, support one another and delve deeper into the day’s
theme. Family groups are a time for games,
discussion and other interactive activities.
Workshop/Camp Game
This is a time of day that is set apart for community building and
personal learning experiences. An all camp game helps kids to learn
the importance of interacting with one another and working together to reach a common
goal in a fun way. It’s also a time for campers to be active and experience the outdoors. Camp
workshops are times where campers can learn a new skill or discuss a new topic.
All our camp games and workshops are age appropriate and friendly.
FOB/BOB/REST
Each of our camp programs takes at least an hour out of each
day after lunch to allow the campers to rest and be still and to
rejuvenate for the afternoon activities.
Daily Activity Options
Each campsite offers daily activity
options including such things as
archery, swimming, crafts, rock
climbing, mountain boarding,
sports and more. Campers are
encouraged to try something new and learn a
new skill that gets them moving and is fun.

TRANSFORMs THE WORLD!
Bible Study
Bible study is a time for in depth study
of the day’s bible story.
Bible study is led by
the volunteer clergy
who help the campers
learn more about
biblical characters and
teachings.
Evening Worship/
Evening Program
Evening programs are times
of celebration of the day and
week. These include things like
prayer walks, activity stations, a
dance, talent show, communion
services and more.
Campfire
A time for worship and praise music and a
closing message for the day.
Living accommodations
All campers stay in cabins with bunk beds. Living in a
community with 10-16 others (with adult supervision).
Cabin groups create a covenant with one another, do
evening devotions, participate in the talent show together
and often come up with creative fun ways to decorate and
keep their living space.
Meals
Campers are served three nutritious meals
per day and one or two snacks. Our
cooking staff carefully plan out the meals
for the day and week with the campers in
mind adjusting menus for the age levels
they are serving and priding
themselves on hospitality and
service. All of our sites can also
accommodate special dietary
needs.

THEME
Fearless Faith: Courage in Community
This week, the campers will explore what it means to have a “Fearless Faith”. They will focus on being courageous
in order to be fearless. The courage to be a part of a community, the courage to trust in themselves and the
community, the courage to forgive and be forgiven, the courage to take a stand, the courage to do justice, the
courage to change and the courage to connect with other communities.

OUR CAMPS
Classic Camps
Classic camps are week long, overnight camps where the campers engage in worship, family groups, cabin groups,
large group activities, daily activity options, bible study and campfire. Campers will live in community, take on
leadership responsibilities, experience creative encounters with God, spend time in the outdoors, learn and develop
new skills, unplug from technology, learn resilience, independence, confidence, teamwork and social skills, make
life-long friendships and have tons of fun.
The Fearless Adventure
12 spaces available
This week is for those who are looking for a little bit of adrenaline! In our small, but fearless group, we’ll challenge
ourselves with a variety of adventure: on high ropes, with rock-climbing, paddling the ocean kayaking, beach
hiking, beach camping for a night at San Onofre Bluffs and surfing under the guidance of professionals. Pair this with
exploring how we grow in Christian courage when we live in community and this week will be the story of a lifetime!
Contact Cat Holbert at [email protected] for more details and information.
Night Owls
36 spaces available
So you love camp and you love staying up late. Join us for this fun week! We’ll do all the great normal camp stuff:
worship, Bible Study, crafts, music, swimming, team-building, hiking, mountain boarding, sports & games, campfire,
cooking over a campfire and so much more. The catch? We’ll stay up till 3am and sleep till 11am everyday!
Contact Cat Holbert at [email protected] for more details and information.
Surf Camp
12 spaces available
Surfing is a true adventure as you contend with the waves of God’s grandest elements. First time and more
experienced surfers alike will find something to learn, have fun and enjoy the company of their fellow surfing
campers. We will use surfing to help us understand how we can be fearless in our faith.
Contact Danny Armanino at [email protected] for more details and information.
Film Camp
12 spaces available
Film camp inspires a lifetime of creative thinking through hands-on experience joining faith with artistic expression.
Learn the basic skills of filmmaking. Get an opportunity to shoot and film a movie. This year we will be headed to
the beach and will be creating a movie about surfing and Fearless Faith. Who knows, you may even be able to get on
a board yourself.
