Our Staff & Facilities
From the Director
Community Services
Long, warm, lazy days; that’s what summer is all about. Community
Education is all geared up and ready to cure the summer doldrums. We
encourage you to watch the construction of the indoor pool at the CEC and
check out the changes happening at the Middle School. Register to participate in the 1st Annual Color Craze Run, audition to be part of this year’s
Dozinky Days Variety Show or just hang out at the pool. There is so much to
do and only 3 months of summer in which to do it.
Director, Janelle Kirsch
[email protected], 952-758-1733
In this edition you will find numerous options for all ages:
• Adults can get updated in CPR training, take a trip to the History Theatre to see Glensheen, make a piece of twig furniture, learn to sew,
exercise with friends, and more.
• A wide variety of sports, arts, theatre, music and STEM activities are
available for Kindergarten through High School students.
• Toddlers and preschool aged children can get active in one of our many
classes designed specifically for that age group.
• And families are encouraged to spend time together exploring the great
outdoors with one of our outdoor recreation options including Open
Stadium Sundays at the Trojan track and field.
Summer is fleeting. Get involved. Mark your calendar and sign up early so
you won’t miss out on the fun.
Warmly,
Janelle Kirsch

Protecting Your Retirement Assets
New Laws and Updates
Long-term care insurance is not for everyone, but getting educated on how recent MN and
Federal laws have changed previous long-term care insurance products is a necessity.
Learn exactly how new Minnesota laws now guarantee that you can shelter/ protect your
assets from future long-term care costs.
This class is a “must” for you to determine whether or not long-term care insurance should
be part of your own retirement and estate planning.
Through a partnership with Ed2Go, we can
offer you a wide range of highly interactive
courses that can be taken entirely over the
internet. All of these online courses are led
by expert instructors, many of whom are
nationally known authors. These courses
are affordable, fun, fast, convenient, and
geared just for you. For a full listing of

Long-Term Care Insurance
Does it make sense?
Long-term care insurance has changed. Does this product make financial sense (including the
new hybrid/combo policies)?
This advanced class is for those who have wondered about buying long-term care insurance
or for those who already have it. This class shows how to accurately compare the costeffectiveness of different policies.
Learn what options should be avoided, where the “gotchas” are often hidden
in the fine print, and what is the “best” age to buy. Understand the pros and cons of group
plans available.
A class will be held at Valley Green
Workforce Center in Shakopee on
Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from
April 4-May 26, 2-4:30 pm.
This is a free class with the opportunity
to take the ServSafe Exam; for more
information and to register, contact
Lynnea Henry, 952-567-8128 or
[email protected]
This class will provide the analytical tools to help you decide if you should even consider
buying a policy - or if you should keep your existing policy.

Strengthening
Zumba is dance fitness that is a fun way to
work out, let loose and de-stress. Our music
choice is a mix of contemporary/pop, radio
songs with a mixture of some Zumba/international inspired songs. Zumba isn’t just a
way to workout, it’s become a community
where positive friendships are made while
doing something healthy and happy. Zumba
Strengthening incorporates strengthening
exercises along with Zumba. Part of the class
is spent dancing and getting in our cardio,
while the rest is spent on a variety of different strengthening exercises for arms, abs,
back, legs...you name it! This class has it all!
Grab your friends and neighbors for
some Sunday evening fun at the Trojan
Stadium. The stadium will be open each
week for community members interested
in playing football, soccer, lacrosse, etc.
or to run/walk on the track. Bring your
own equipment. No pets, food or colored/
sugar beverages allowed on the turf/track.
Canceled if raining or lightning.
This is a 7 week class; sign up for 1, 2, 3 or
more classes a week and choose the times
that best fit your schedule each week.

What is ECFE?
ECFE provides quality learning
opportunities and resources
for parents of young children
between birth and kindergarten
age.
Our classes are for both
parents and children
Most ECFE classes begin with parents
and children playing together in the
early childhood room. After a short
circle time, parents move to the
parent room where discussion is led
by a licensed parent educator. The
children continue to learn and play
with the licensed early childhood
teacher. In some classes, parents and
children play and learn together the
entire time.
Most classes meet once a week for
1.5 hours. Childcare is provided for
siblings of children enrolled in daytime
classes.
All families are welcome. Fees are
based on a sliding scale. No one
will be denied participation due to
inability to pay.
Class options for Fall 2016

Coming this Fall....
NEW! Preschool Meet Your Teacher Day Thursday, September 1
Enrolled preschoolers will receive a letter in August
with a scheduled time for parents and children to meet
their teacher, check out the classroom, and get your
questions answered. We want to ease the transition
to preschool by offering a smaller, more individualized
experience.
Remember you must register your child for
preschool. Don't delay. Classes are filling quickly.
Call 952-758-1670.
Preschool classes start September 6!
Looking for a full day experience for your preschooler?
In-school Child Care and Preschool Program
We are offering parents a unique collaborative IN-SCHOOL CHILD CARE and PRESCHOOL PROGRAM designed to meet the
needs of your family and children. Children will spend time in Preschool and KC WRAP. Our purpose is to provide your
children with an educational experience that supports the care and early needs of your preschooler.
Preschool like no other!
Our Preschools are like no other. Inside each classroom is an environment created to provide opportunities to promote
learning and a growing curiosity in each of our students.
Here is what makes the New Prague Area School District Preschool program stand out from the rest…
◆◆ Our OWL curriculum and SEEDS of Literacy are comprehensive and research based. It aligns with the District’s learning
goals and the MN State Standards.
◆◆ Our Second Step Curriculum prepares children for Kindergarten with self-regulation and executive function skills that
help them pay attention, remember directions, and control their behavior.
◆◆ Our teachers are among the best. All of our licensed teachers hold early childhood degrees and have extensive
experience in creating environments that promote learning.
Combining Preschool Programs with WRAP
Combining our Preschool Programs with WRAP (our wrap-around childcare programs) we are able to provide children with a
developmentally appropriate full day experience. As a parent you can be confident your children are receiving the education
needed to prepare them for Kindergarten as well as the care they need while you work, without the hassle of finding
transportation.
◆◆ Our WRAP experience rounds out their day by providing…
◆◆ Weekly theme based activities that focus on your child’s social, emotional and creative development.
◆◆ Well trained staff who love children. Each member brings skills and knowledge that enhance each program.
◆◆ Convenience for families. The program is open M-F from 6:30am-6pm throughout the school year with the exception
of holidays.
Enrollment Options
Enrollment options include; 2, 3, or 4 days of preschool with or without the WRAP program.
Our District Preschool programs are rated 4 star Parent Aware and our WRAP programs are working towards NAEYC
Accreditation.

Early Childhood Screening
Screen at 3!
My Preschooler & Me:
Natural Wonders
Messy Art and Sensory Fun
Ages 3–6
Does your child like to get messy? Do you
cringe at the thought of cleaning those
messes? Children will get lost in messmaking mania as we explore different
sensory activities and use a variety of
techniques to make messy art. Each
session will be different so sign up for one
or more, as we explore things like spaghetti
painting, edible mud, frozen car rescue
and much more. Keep in mind, your child's
clothing will probably not stay clean so dress
appropriately.
Minnesota law requires that all
children be screened prior to
school enrollment. Age 3 is the
recommended age for this health and
developmental screening.
Come out to Cedar Lake Farm and delight
in some fun, recreational activities for
preschoolers and adults to learn and enjoy
together. Each program includes a story,
craft, outdoor activity and lots of fun!
Screening helps identify children
who may benefit from additional
learning or health services before
they enter kindergarten. This simple,
free screening checks your child’s
height, weight, vision, hearing,
speech and development. Your child’s
immunizations will also be reviewed.
