CHANGES TO THE ROMAN MISSAL
On November 27 of this year, along with the entire Church in the United States, we
will begin using a revised translation of the Roman Missal, or the words the priest and
the faithful say at Mass. In addition to the information given in the Mass itself over
the next few months, you will find bulletin inserts, or visit the parish website for links
to more great resources to deepen your understanding of these revisions and what it
means for the way we worship.

Social Concerns
In today’s Gospel we see that God continues to invite, but that the first on
the list did not accept the invitation. The second tier invitees did come, but
we see in the parable that it is possible to be asked to leave if we are not
ready to accept all that God has to offer, both the banquet and the wedding
garment. When we accept being in a relationship with God we are called to
embrace whole new ways of being and thinking which are determined by
God’s will, not ours. Some invited by God might not be on our list, who and
what is it that God is calling us to accept that might be difficult right now?
The St. Vincent de Paul food pantry is in urgent need of the items listed
below. If you can help, please place your items in the St. Vincent de Paul food
collection boxes located at the doors of the church. Peanut Butter, dried rice
and beans, macaroni & cheese, dried pasta, spaghetti sauce. We do not need
canned goods at this time. Thank you!

The Challenge of Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship
Visit the church website to read the highlights from the United States Conference
of Catholic Bishops statement that prepares Catholics for the upcoming presidential election by reflecting on forming consciences for faithful citizenship. It poses
challenging questions and offers a framework for responding to the political questions of our day. Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship highlights the seven key themes of Catholic social teaching that can guide participation in public
life:







The Right to Life and the Dignity of the Human Person
Call to Family, Community, and Participation, Rights and Responsibilities
Rights and Responsibilities
Option for the Poor and Vulnerable
Dignity of Work and the Rights of Workers
Solidarity
Caring for God’s Creation
Catholic teaching calls us to focus on moral principles, the defense of life, the
needs of the weak, and the pursuit of the common good. For information and
resources, visit the saintwilliams.org website and click on Faithful Citizenship.
