Greetings! Welcome to the CBDNA National Conference! It is sure to be an exciting and rewarding event for all of us. Michael Haithcock and his colleagues have assembled what will be one of the most exhilarating conferences in recent memory. The facilities are wonderful, the city is beautiful, and the sessions will be terrific. Congratulations are in order to the wonderful ensembles who have been selected to perform this week: Indiana University, Stephen Pratt, conductor; Hartt School of Music, Glenn Adsit, conductor; Texas Christian University, Bobby Francis, conductor; Central Michigan University, Jack Williamson, conductor; Florida International University, Roby George, conductor; The Cincinnati Conservatory Chamber Players, Rodney Winther, conductor; and The Florida State University, Richard Clary, conductor They will join our host, the University of Michigan Symphony Band, conducted by Michael Haithcock, and the Small College Intercollegiate Band, conducted by Frank Ticheli, for performances that we will remember forever. We are indebted to each of these conductors and their amazing student performers. For me, this is a great personal pleasure to return to Ann Arbor, the birthplace of CBDNA The first CBDNA Conference that I ever attended was here and it literally changed my life It showed me the possibility of great music-making in our medium and solidified my hopes and aspirations to be involved with bands as my life's work. Undoubtedly there will be those attending their first national conference who will be moved to do many great things for our profession, just as there will be many who will be inspired once again by the energy and dynamic opportunities that our profession continues to supply. Wishing each of you the most wonderful and rewarding of weeks, I remain, Yours very cordially, Jerry Junkin President Wednesdav, March 28 Small College Intercollegiate Band Schedule listed on page 20 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM Conference 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM Small College 100 PM - 530 PM Shattinger's 1:00 Welcome and Announcements Jerry Junkin, President 2:00 Keynote session: Robert Registration MICHIGANROOMSLOBBY Intercollegiate Resource Band Auditions MICHIGANI & II MICHIGANROOMSIII, IV, & V Room MICHIGANI & II Duke (University of Texas) MICHIGANI & II Practice makes better Practice makes worse.
