FAMILY PROMISE BENEFITS
FROM CABI SUPPORT
Wendy shows the CABI line at home parties throughout the upstate, and donates all her profits to local charities. Family Promise
of Pickens County is gratefully one of the prime beneficiaries.
Wendy and Bob have been married for 21 years; have three children, one new grandchild, and a Portuguese Water dog - Remi.
Both avid social golfers and fitness advocates, Wendy and Bob enjoy lake and mountain living at the Cliffs. They are members of
5 Points Church in Easley, and serve on the Board of Cliffs Resident Outreach, mentor at local elementary schools. Bob is also
involved in Job’s for Life, a way for the unemployed or underemployed to get the training they need when applying for jobs.
If you are interested in hostessing a CABI party at your home for friends and neighbors, Wendy is currently scheduling parties for
the CABI fall clothing line. To book your event please contact Wendy at [email protected]

Building Community, Strengthening Lives
Wendy Giblin and husband, Bob, moved to the Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards in 2011. Since relocating, Wendy and Bob jumped
right in to work with local non-profit organizations and church groups in educating and mentoring youth of Pickens County.
In 2014 Wendy also became the local sales representative for CABI, a clothing company which sells its fashion clothing through
home shows. As Wendy states, "being a long-time customer of CABI has shown me what a great company they are to work
for; a company of women supporting women - not just nationwide, but globally, which fits right in with why I do this job - to give
back."

Finding Me
Arial Baptist Church
By Armilla Moore, Executive Director
Bethesda United Methodist Church
Recently someone thanked me for what I do for Family Promise of Pickens County.
What a paradox! I am the person who should be thanking Family Promise for what
it has done for me. Just as I said then, in the past months God has touched my life in
ways I would have never guessed. I wish I could say I have given this program just a
little bit of what Family Promise has shown and given me.

I have found hope.
I see it in a young mother who finally finds a job after tirelessly searching, moves
into a new home, or gets her first pay check. This same mother finds time to encourage others and offer help.
I have gained insight.
I now know it is hard work to change your life when you live in poverty and I realize
that most people have no idea how hard it is. Help is always needed long before you
figure out where to get it and usually requires lots of paperwork and waiting.

I have acquired understanding.
I understand it is not just education that separates the “haves and the have-nots” .
It is also employment opportunities, childcare, transportation, family support,
affordable housing, and many other factors.
I have found the strength of the human spirit.
I see it in parents and children who can still laugh and love with no money, no food,
inadequate clothes, no home and no expectations for the future. In these same
families I see determination, faith, enthusiasm and love in people who could be
tired, bitter, cynical and jaded.
I have found compassionate and sympathetic people.
People who are not only willing to be kind, hospitable and considerate, but people
who are willing to act on those feeling without regard for differences. These people
come in the form of tutors, office help, mentors, and babysitters. They provide
meals, shelter, transportation, supplies, clothes, household goods and financial
support. They are from our support, host and other congregations, local communities, partnership agencies and former participants.
Ultimately I realize what I was looking for at Family Promise was a way to find me, a
successful, satisfied and happy me. I was looking for that person who could look in
the mirror and feel good about what I had done at the end of the day.
I know now that this will only come when I have listened to the voices of the
homeless, understood their needs, helped them to identify more resources, find
more solutions and supported them to achieve their own goals. I now realize that
by finding them, I have found my success. I have found me.
From our Board
The FPPC Board of Trustees is most thankful for the opportunity to support our Executive Director, Armilla Moore, and our
Case Manager, JoAnn Brink, in their collaborative efforts with
our congregations and the community to provide food, shelter and comprehensive support services to homeless families.
FPPC and its many volunteers are providing significant support
and
hospitality to our guest families in their efforts to obtain
affordable housing and lasting self-sufficiency.
Who Are We?
Family Promise is a nonprofit organization
that helps homeless families become
independent.
Churches and volunteers join forces to meet
homeless families’ immediate needs for
shelter, meals and comprehensive support
services.
The Board provides our Family Promise affiliate with the legal
structure and authority to make decisions, set policies, approve
budgets, hire professional staff, raise funds, manage finances,
and develop long range plans. We are a working Board in the
sense that members are actively involved with Armilla in
overseeing financial activities, preparing budgets, raising funds,
developing policies, and communicating our Affiliate activities
to volunteers and the public.
Maintaining the Affiliate’s financial integrity is a major Board
responsibility. During 2015, in addition to the support from our
