1502 Easy Churn Dash Quilt REQUIRED GO! & GO! Big Friendly Churn Dash Blocks The classic Churn Dash block comes in 9" and 12" finished sizes from AccuQuilt. Both blocks are easy to make using BOB dies (Block on Board) and fast to sew, requiring only light and dark fabrics. Seams are easy to match, and they all lock together! Life couldn’t be better! 9" Light 12" Dark 2 9" Dark Fabric Selection Select one dark and one light fabric, one can read solid from a distance. The second one can be a large scale print. For a dramatic looking quilt, the two fabrics should contrast. From one fat quarter, you can cut four 9" blocks or two 12" blocks. The 9” finished size Churn Dash is die #55339 with Cutting Mat #55111. Use the Go! with this size die. The 12” Churn Dash is die #55459, with Cutting Mat #55146 . Use the Go! Cover Center Square die with fabric. 5.Place mat on top, and layer cut. 6.Stack for sewing. 6 Setting Up Your Sewing Machine 1.Place a quarter inch foot and single hole throat plate on your machine. 2.Sew with a perfect ¼". 3.A tool from Quilt in a Day called the Sew Straight (#3000) is very helpful in sewing perfect pieces. ¼" Foot Sewing Pieces Together for 9" and 12" Blocks 1. A ssembly-line sew. Do not clip apart. 2. P lace on pressing mat. 3. Set seams. 4. O pen and press toward dark. 5. C lip apart with Cutting Gizmo or Scissors. 7 Sewing Dark Churn Dash Block Together 1.Lay out block. 2.Flip middle vertical row to vertical row on left, right sides together. 3.Assembly-line sew. Do not clip apart. 4.Open. Flip right vertical row to middle vertical row, right sides together. 8 5.Assembly-line sew. Do not clip apart. 6.Turn. Press seams in outside rows toward middle patch. Press seams in middle row away from center patch. 7.Assembly-line sew, locking seams. If you plan to sew blocks next to each other, half in this direction so blocks lock together. If you plan to sew Lattice between blocks, its not necessary 8.From wrong side, press seams toward center. Press seams in middle row toward center patch. 7.Assembly-line sew, locking seams. If you plan to sew blocks next to each other, press half in this direction so blocks lock together. If you plan to sew Lattice between blocks, its not necessary 8.From wrong side, press seams away from center. Seams are out and out 11 Sewing Top Together All blocks lock together. 1. Lay out Blocks. 2.Flip second vertical row right sides together to first vertical row. 3.Stack pairs, keeping top blocks on top. 4.Stack remaining rows. 5.Assembly-line sew first two rows. Open. 6.Assembly-line sew remaining rows. Do not clip apart. 12 7.From wrong side, press each row in opposite directions. Cover pressed rows with appliqué pressing sheet. 8.Sew remaining rows together, locking seams. 9.Press seams in one direction. 10.Add Borders. 11. Place 11” x 9½” dark strip right sides together to it. 2.Stack second 11” x 9” pair on top. 3.Place on die, making certain that blades are covered. 4.Fan fold 5" strip for Center Square cover die with fabric. 5.Place mat on top, and layer cut. 6.Stack for sewing.
