2016 Fall - Mt. Prospect Park District
Welcome to FALL
A classic design stands the test of time...RecPlex is 25!
Open in 1991, the 94,000 square foot RecPlex includes an indoor pool, fitness center and track, gymnasium, racquetball courts,
indoor playground, meeting space and offices. In 1992, the American Business Magazine recognized RecPlex with the
prestigious “Facility of Merit” award. In 1995, the Illinois Park and Recreation Association awarded RecPlex an “Outstanding
Facility” award. As home to hundreds of programs with thousands of patrons weekly, RecPlex has proven to be timeless in
both design and functionality.
This fall, a new chapter in programming begins with the introduction of ice hockey leagues, classes and learn-to-skate programs
in conjunction with the Mount Prospect Ice Arena (MPIA). Located at 1501 Feehanville Drive in the Kensington Business Center,
the arena is a 71,000 square foot, state-of-the-art, two rink facility.
Specific offerings include youth and adult hockey leagues, adult hockey clinics, pre-hockey classes, youth and adult
learn-to-skate classes and open public skating. Additional details and registration information is available at www.mppd.org.
We look forward to the “fall face-off” as we merge our new ice programming with participants from our established inline
hockey program still going strong after 15 years.
As the seasons come and go, count on our knowledgeable staff to assist you as you continue
to “piece together an active life.”
A Nation that does not honor its heroes, will not long endure.
~ President Abraham Lincoln

Fall Season - September 7 to December 10
The Mt. Prospect Park District offers dance classes for students of all ability levels and ages.
We are committed to excellence in dance education and creating a positive environment where
students can achieve their goals in dance and in life. The Mt. Prospect School of Classical Ballet offers a curriculum
rooted in strong classical ballet technique. Studio Impulse features jazz as its core curriculum and offers students the
opportunity to broaden their experience with specialty classes in tap, hip hop, modern and contemporary dance.
Due to the progressive nature of our programs, all dancers in first grade and above who wish to participate in the
Spring recitals MUST register during the Fall term. Please call 847-640-1000 for additional placement information.
Princess Ballerinas (Born by 9/1/13)
Pre-Ballet (Born by 9/1/12- Kindergarten)
For every girl who dreams of becoming a princess! A spring
board to our Pre-Ballet program, children will learn to express
themselves through movement and dance using the stories of
familiar princesses as a starting point. Children will also
begin to understand basic concepts such as tempo, levels
and space. The session will culminate with an in-studio
performance during the final class. Location: LRC.
Our Pre-Ballet program nurtures the young child’s natural
love of dance and emphasizes creativity, musicality and having
fun. Children learn classical ballet positions and preparatory
ballet steps, laying the groundwork for formal ballet training.

The Night Before Halloween - Storytime Crafts
(4-7 years)
“’Twas the night before Halloween, and all through the house, All
the creatures were stirring, except for the mouse. The monsters
had gathered to plan and prepare, for the trick-or-treaters who
soon would be there?.” Little monsters and goofy goblins take
center stage in this silly spin on Clement C. Moore’s beloved
poem. But what will happen on Halloween when the monsters
come face to face with human trick-or-treaters. We’ll craft as
only the Art Studio can and read this fun-filled book!

NEW! Bird Bath (18+ years)
NEW! Fabulous Fall Potting Fun! (18+ years)
Want to make your backyard more attractive to birds? Just add
water! Birds need a dependable supply of fresh, clean water for
drinking and bathing. Putting a bird bath in your yard may attract
birds that don’t eat seeds and wouldn’t otherwise come to your
feeders. Join us as we craft a simple project for a Sand Cast
Birdbath. In this 2 part class, we will create a form in the sand
and using a concrete mixture, cast a large leaf for the basin.
Then, simply add your own touch to personalize it.
A wonderful planting opportunity awaits you! Colorful mums,
fall annuals, interesting grasses…it’s everything you need for
a fresh new fall planter for your front door. We’ll provide all the
supplies to get you started, along with design pointers to finish
it off. Bring your gardening gloves and get ready for fun.

The Mt. Prospect Park District provides employment opportunities to all persons
regardless of race, religion, sex, age and all other legally protected categories in
accordance with applicable state and federal laws. Periodically positions such as
facility supervisors, program leaders, lifeguards and swim instructors may become
available. Visit our website at: www.mppd.org for job openings or stop by and fill
out an application at any of our facilities.
Photo Policy
Please be aware that staff or representatives of the Park District may take photos or
video of participants enrolled in Park District programs, classes, events or people on
