Greeting Card and Rakhi Making Competition
Touching the brim of every festival, the tiny hands of young Podarians once again revealed their skills in
Greeting card and Rakhi making competition. The Greeting card competition and Rakhi making
competition was held on 2nd August 2014.
Greeting card making competition was for the classes 3rd and 4th whereas Rakhi making competition was
for the classes 5th to 9th.
The competition was essentially to motivate the real feel and the depth of the importance of celebrating
festivals. The wonderful displays put by the children of classes III and IV symbolized their involment and
respect in the ritual.
Literary Competitions
Inter house literary competition 2014-15 took place on 13 August14. There were ‘Debate’ and ‘Book
review’ competition for classes 6 to 9, where students presented their skills in an innovative and
refreshing style. Contemporary topics were given for debate like
Class 9 : Justice delayed is justice denied.
Class 8: Is co education beneficial or not
Class 7: Do corporation have responsibility beyond making profit?
Students of class VI and VII presented book reviews of “school friend’s mystery at silver springs’ by Ann
Bryant and Davis Copperfield by Charles Dicknes. They also presented experts from novel in an artistic
style.
Students enjoyed themselves immensely in addition to broadening their English language horizons.
Our Principal Mr. Prashant Muley, felicitated winner in the assembly.
Independence Day Celebration
On 15th August, the 68th Independence Day celebration at PIS, ICSE, Aurangabad was conducted with full
of national spirit, patriotism and an oath to serve the country in a selfless manner. The schedule of events
began with flag hoisting by the chief guest LT Col R.K. Saha, the commanding officer accompanied by our
Principal. Mr. Prashant Muley and Administration officer, Mr. Chahal. Following it was, an array of culture
activities which included Patriotic song by the Junior group and s skit presented by students of VIII D. The
theme of the skit was how the tricolor flag of our country was designed with the three color.
Not to forget the speeches rendered by three faculty members from each section was heart touching and
an inspirational one which gave message to serve one’s own country.
Cartoon Making Competition
Cartoon is the source of entertainment. It is also known as stress reliever. The Podarian had a cartoon
drawing for classes 3rd to 9th on 16th August 14.The students were allowed to draw their favorite cartoon
character and color it with the of their imagination. There was a pleasant smile on the face of students.
The drawing sheets were filled with various characters as if any movement they will bounce out and start
entertaining.
The cartoon artists were content to see their master piece.
On the same day the tiny tods of Podar had a proper collage competition for the classes 1 and 2. The
students of grade one was given an umbrella picture which they decorated with paper collage. Umbrella
signifies the rainy season and the shower of life on the Mother earth. And the students of grade Second
were given the picture of flower vase. The children decorated the vase and flowers with colourful papers
which also help to develop their motor skills.
Inter house what’s the good word
The inter-house ‘What’s the good word’ competition was conducted on 20th August, 2014 in Podar
International School. This competition is meant for testing vocabulary knowledge of a students and usage
of idioms and phrases in context wise. Students from class VIII and IX participated in this competition.
Each house contains 4 participants.
The competition held in two rounds. In the first round each student from each house has to choose a chit
which contains a word and he / she has to give the antonym or synonym of the word, as asked in the chit.
If the student answers it in first chance he / she gets 5 marks. If he uses the second chit and gives the
right answer, he gets only 3 marks. 1 minute is provided for answering the question. (This is an Individual
activity).
In the Second round, a student from each house has to pick up a slip which contains an idiom or a phrase
which needs explanation. Since it is a team work others members of the house can help him/her in
answering it. 2 minutes is provided for this round to answer the question. If the participant representing a
house gives the right answer in the first round, he/she can get 10 marks. If he/she uses second chit, he
gets 5 marks for the correct answer. (This is team activity).
Ventus house stood first with highest points followed by Aqua, Ignis and Terra houses.
International Women’s equality day
26th August is celebrated as “Women’s Equality Day” all over the world. To prove that women are equal to men in
all fields and achieving greater height, the students of class 8th C conducted an assembly related to this theme.
The students gave the information about the equality and power of women. Related to the topic, the students
also put some questions in front of the audience to name a personality either male or female
Japanese delegation Visit
‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness’
A group of Japanese consisting of 8 members had come to Aurangabad to educate the people about
cleanliness.
The school, PIS, Aurangabad was fortunate enough to welcome all these delegates to their camps. Mr.
Prashant Muley, Principal, felicitated them with a shawl and coconut (Shriphal) according to the tradition
of Maharashtrians. They also had a mascot who was dressed up like Charlie Chaplin.
Mr. Chaitanya Bhandari accompanied them and he also translated to students whatever they spoke in
Japanese. The delegates shared their views about how they take up the responsibility and start cleaning
each and every area.
They were very happy sharing their views about the people of Aurangabad and their co operative and
kind nature.
There was an interaction session where the students asked them few questions about cleanliness abd
how they plan to work for it. The delegates explained the students about their responsibility and their
way of working.
The Mayor of Japan had sent a card with them and it was presented to the Principal Mr. Prashant Muley.
The session ended with a happy note where the students wished the “Arigato” in Japanese which means
Thank You.
