Show of Hands Show of Hands are without a doubt one of the
strongest current forces in acoustic music. Phil Beer and Steve Knightley,
described at BBC Radio 2’s 2007 Folk Awards as “one of England’s greatest
singer songwriters”.
Zambula Brilliant high energy, exciting, multicultural band with tribal drums
and soaring guitars hailing from the Congo, Uganda and Cornwall. Sure to
get you dancing.
F R I DAY M U S I C
Saor Patrol The unique sound of Scotland in the 21st century. Still
holding onto their unique sound and style, Saor Patrol’s vibrant pipe tunes and
drum rhythms please and excite many a crowd from all walks of life.
Brian Houston An Irish treasure waiting to happen… Houston’s brand of
lively and passionate folk rock demonstrates his finely tuned melodic sense and
clever, astutely commercial writer’s ear.
Shambolica North London based trio with outstanding female vocals,
whose songs are drawn from the music of their collective pasts and present
day influences.
Al Lindsay With a playing style influenced by Jon Martyn, Todd Rundgren
and Joni Mitchell, Al’s true calling has always been the live performance of
his original blues and folk tinged set.
F R I DAY DA N C E

Martin Simpson Martin Simpson is one of the finest acoustic finger-style
and slide guitar players in the world. Winner of 3 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards
he is a superb interpreter of traditional music and song.
Spiers and Boden This duo have been consistently
Mawkin:Causley Mawkin, a punchy, energetic, passionate and good fun
foursome joined by the exceptional Jim Causley to make Mawkin:Causley,
another development in this fast rising band’s brief but exciting history.
Boo Hewerdine The humanity of Hewerdine's songs sets them apart.
Gareth Pearson Stunning young guitarist from South Wales. Gareth
specialises in playing the music of Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed and Tommy
Emmanuel. So impressive we’ve invited him back for a second year.
Bella Hardy with Chris Sherbourn Bella is an acclaimed singer. As well as
singing unaccompanied ballads, Bella entwines her voice with her own fiddle
accompaniment to breathtaking effect and is ably joined by Chris Sherburn.
Claude Bourbon Claude performs solo on stage with his guitars by his side.
Bourbon captures the full attention of his audience and his playing is so
unique and distinct he often leaves his audience wondering how exactly he
does it.
Dead Like Harry A popular group of musicians with a style coloured by rock,
blues, American, English, country as well as folk influences performing honest,
from-the-heart songs.
Kerfuffle This young band’s music cannot easily be categorised, their vibrant
arrangements drawing on influences from across Europe, incorporating tunes,
songs and dances.
Lightning Jack Festival regulars, still performing their eclectic mix of Celtic
roots, blues, ballads and reels.
Jade One of the best from last year’s Club Tent.
wowing audiences up and down the country for the last 5 years with their
unique blend of traditional English folk song and hi-octane dance tunes.
They're not intensely personal, but observe instead the everyday.
Hewerdine's collection of songs are lyrical, melody led, and beautifully
understated.
Idiot and Friend Two years ago Keith Donnelly shared a stage with
brilliant performance poet and cardigan meister Les Barker. The pair had
such a good time 'bouncing off' each other that they have continued to
work together.
Cliff and Prue Taking in eclectic influences from the British Indie scene to
a love of Americana folk, blues and country music, this duo try to create
something a little different.
