Barry and Batya Segal are the Founders of Vision for Israel, a non-profit, charitable organization established to help rebuild the
nation of Israel, both physically and spiritually. In addition, the Segals are internationally known worship leaders, Bible teachers,
and television hosts.
The story of Vision for Israel began in 1993 – long before the Second Intifada – when Barry Segal received a powerful vision
that Israel would experience a time of plenty and then of anguish, similar to the Biblical tale of Joseph. The extraordinary story
took a tragic turn in February of 1996, when the Segal family was touched by the pain that affects far too many Israelis. Barry
and Batya’s older daughter lost three teenage friends in a bus that was attacked by a Hamas suicide bomber. Then, less than two
weeks later, a girl she was training in the army was murdered when another Hamas terrorist blew up another bus on the same
route. These were buses their daughter rode each week.
During Passover in 1996, Barry and Batya responded by assisting the families torn apart by terrorism. Seeking to do more
to help, in January of 1998, the Segals opened the first Joseph Storehouse humanitarian aid center just outside of Jerusalem.
There they began to build Vision for Israel & The Joseph Storehouse into an international non-profit organization that supplies
essential humanitarian aid to impoverished Israelis – both Jews and Arabs – and which helps local Israeli organizations that are
in desperate need of many important supplies. Vision for Israel has also been a source of spiritual aid to the nations through the
Jerusalem News Network (www.jnnnews.com) which spreads accurate information and guidelines for prayer concerning Israel.
Batya Segal first became internationally recognized for the rich worship music that she and her husband Barry Segal pioneered
together. Batya was born in Jerusalem to an Orthodox Jewish Yemenite family. She has infused the rich sounds of her heritage into her music, along with the faith kindled after a profound spiritual encounter which led to her belief in Yeshua ( Jesus)
the Messiah. Batya, as a singer and song writer along with Barry, a singer and musician, soon became well known for their
Israeli-Messianic style of music. Barry and Batya now have released a number of CDs, including their latest album Day 7, and
their previous recordings Sh’ma Yisrael, Go Through the Gates, Adonai, Jerusalem: the Last Frontier, Be Not Silent, Gili Meod, as well
as their music video DVD titled Timeless Sounds. All are available at their online store Greetings from Jerusalem. Please visit
www.greetingsfromjerusalem.com to order and for more information. All proceeds support humanitarian work in Israel.
Barry Segal, in addition to being the Co-founder of Vision for Israel & The Joseph Storehouse, is also well known as a worship
leader and international Bible speaker. He is the managing editor of the Jerusalem News Network, and the host and producer of
the television series “Roots & Reflections” – a fascinating view of life in Israel today, revealing a vibrant, exciting country full of
history, culture and spiritual significance.
Barry grew up in the USA and encountered the Messiah when he was a young musician living a colorful lifestyle in Detroit and
Cleveland. He focused on praise and worship music and led a fellowship while also pursuing a career in professional radio and
TV production. Barry felt called to make aliyah, moving to live in Israel, and in Jerusalem met and later married Batya. Together
they founded the ministry that became Vision for Israel. “Without a vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18).
Barry is also the congregational leader of the Moriah Gatherings in the United Kingdom, comprised of Jews and Gentiles who
“as one in the Messiah” share a deep and abiding connection to the land and people of Israel.
You can further the vision by inviting the Segals as speakers and worship leaders to your local congregation, coming to serve in
Israel at The Joseph Storehouse, or visiting Vision for Israel online for exciting opportunities to truly help the people of Israel.
