WASCAL Graduate Studies Program The program consists of 4 different master and 6 doctoral programs, each based at one West African University (for a list of programs, see www.wascal. org). The language of instruction is English. The Master Research Program “Climate Change and Adapted Land Use” offers excellent study and research support: • • • • • • • English Proficiency Course for French-speaking students before the start of the program High quality education and research on climate change, its impact and adaptation options Interdisciplinary teaching and working approach Skill training in remote sensing, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and research methodology West African and international lecturers Full time scholarship and research budget, including personal laptop computer Exposure to intercultural work environment Application Applicants must be citizens of one of the ten WASCAL member states: Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d´ Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal or Togo. The application process is handled by the Federal University of Technology, Minna. All applications undergo a review by the international Advisory Board of the Master Program. State-of-the-art modelling tools will be used for innovative analysis of environmental and socio-economic datasets to produce quantitative results for predicting and assessing the impacts of climate change with the view towards proffering the most suitable adaptation measures to minimize these impacts. It is prominently located along the road leading to beautifully constructed University roundabout leading to the Senate Building and other University edifices. Facilities A large well equipped lecture room with a smart board for lectures/presentations, a desktop for each of the students, a large seminar/boardroom that can also serve as video conferencing room etc.
