Construction

Fussy cut (10) 8-1/2” squares
Fabric J MASF18180-E Cut (3) 13” squares.
Cut the squares across both diagonals to get (12)
side triangles (you only use ten of the tri
angles).
Cut (2) 7” squares. Cut the squares across one diagonal to get (4) corner triangles.
Fabric K MASF18176-J Cut (2) 5-1/2” x 50” strips from the length of fabric (LOF) for the outer border.
Cut (2) 5-1/2” x 62” strips (LOF) for the outer
border.
Fabric L MASF1813-R5 Cut (6) 2-1/2” x WOF strips for the binding.
* Alternative for Fabric I MASF18180-J Cut (10) 8-1/2” squares.
Backing
Cut (2) 48” x WOF strips.
Sew the strips together and trim to make one
48” x 48” backing piece.
Block Assembly
(Follow the quilt picture to assemble the block)
Quilt Top Assembly
(Follow the quilt layout while assembling)
1. To make the eight 4-patch blocks, use the
assorted 4-1/2” Fabric A- H squares, lay out four
different 4-1/2”squares for each block. Sew the
blocks together to make each 8-1/2” patchwork
block (Fig. 1).
2. Refer to the quilt layout to sew the eight 8-1/2”
patchwork blocks, ten 8-1/2” Fabric I squares,
corner and side triangles together to make the
rows (Fig. 2).

Note: Alternative Fabric I (Crazy for Christmas
Allover, Black – MASF18180-J) may be substituted for
the Crazy Christmas Squares, Black to compete the
alternative version
3. Sew the rows together as shown in Figure 2 to
make the quilt top.

8. Starting at the sewn seam (represented by the
arrow in Figure 3) draw a 45˚ line out to the edge
of the fabric. Sew on the drawn line. Trim the
excess fabric leaving a 1/4“ seam. Repeat this
step with the remaining corners.

9. Layer and quilt as desired.
10.Sew the six 2-1/2” x WOF Fabric L strips together
end-to-end with 45º seams to make the binding.
Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong
sides together and press.
11.Bind as desired.

Quilt Layout
4. Measure the length of the quilt top and trim
the two 2-1/2” x 52” Fabric G strips for the side
borders. Sew the borders to each side of the
quilt top
5. Measure the width of the quilt top with side
borders and trim the two 2-1/2” x 40” Fabric G
strips for the top and bottom borders. Sew the
borders to the top and bottom of the quilt top.
6. Center one 5-1/2” x 62” Fabric K strip on one side
of the quilt top, pin in place. Start sewing the
strip a 1/4” from the top edge of the quilt top
and stop a 1/4” from the bottom edge. DO NOT
TRIM THE EXCESS. Repeat with the opposite side.
7. Repeat Step 6 to sew one 5-1/2” x 50” Fabric K
strip to the top and to the bottom of the quilt
top, making sure to stop and start 1/4” away
from each end of the quilt top. To miter each
corner, fold the quilt top on a diagonal wrong
side together. This should line up the strips from
adjacent sides (Fig. 3).
