WOW where did the summer go? Fall is right on our
heels so get ready for lots of fun and exciting events
this season! Be sure to check out a few of our new
Activities in September with our Adult Crab Races
at the Resort Pool on Friday, September 19 or our

with the Manatee at Plantation Inn.
Remember the best way to meet people is to get involved! We are always
looking for volunteers to help organize and implement our vast array of events.
If you are wishing to join our team contact Michelle at 949-9909 today!
Activities Round of Applause: This month’s round of applause goes to the
volunteer Trivia Team; Judy Ossola, Sue Keller, Suzanne Kiley and Carmella
Migliorese. These ladies have made trivia one of VillageWalk’s most attended
events each month! They make it fun and exciting and always make sure
everyone is having a great time. Great job ladies, we appreciate all that you do
for our community!

Fundamentals of Climate Control Change
Wednesday, October 22 • 3:00 p.m.
I
f you want to really understand the basics of
Climate Change, you’ll enjoy this plain language
power point presentation from VW resident, Bob
Iverson. Bob will bring the same breezy and
humorous straightforward style he used in the
popular Hurricanes 101 presentation this summer. All it takes is 90 minutes
and a little curiosity about the way things really work. Just for fun, the course is
interspersed with several easy group Q&A reviews to prove how much you are
picking up. Best of all, when it’s over you’ll know more than the pundits on TV.
Bob taught meteorology and climatology to USAF and airline pilots. He also
developed and taught research-driven courses in Climate Change while on the
science faculty at The Montclair Kimberly Academy in NJ. Please RSVP to the
HOA Office by Tuesday, October 21 for planning purposes.

SAFETY COMMITEE
REMINDER : It is bear season here in Southwest Florida. Bears
will be on the move as they are leaving their dent. Now is the time to
expect bears to show up looking for food. If they can’t find food they
will move on. Please, for your safety and the safety of your neighbor,
do not put out your garbage container till the day (morning) of pickup.
Remember bears have a very good sense of smell. It is wise to also
keep your grill clean. A grill in the lanai is no deterrent, as they will go
through the screen as witnessed by a VW resident.

We will meet on September 10 at 1:00 p.m. in the Town Center
to discuss “The Invention of Wings” by Sue Monk Kidd. The
discussion will be lead by Nanci Reid.
Hetty “Handful” Grimke, an urban slave in early nineteenth century
Charleston, yearns for life beyond he suffocating walls that enclose
her within the wealthy Grimke household. The Grimke’s daughter,
Sarah, has known from an early age that she is meant to do
something large in the world, but she is hemmed in by the limits
imposed on women.
Please email Marge Wisniewski ([email protected]) or call (948-3930) if you will
be attending.
October 8, 2014

2014 to discuss “Life after Life” by Kate Atkinson. Linda Laughlin
will lead this discussion.
In the first pages of this novel, Ursula Todd is born and dies

Thereafter, she is repeatedly reborn, lives, and dies, each time
surrounded by the same family. As the story progresses, so does
its protagonist, assimilating lessons that she has learned along the way.
Please email Marge Wisniewski ([email protected]) if you will be attending.

HOA office if further information is needed.
Electing Three Board Members
in January 2015
H
omeowners will once again be casting their votes, this time for
three (3) homeowners to the Board of Directors by the end of

tentatively scheduled for mid to late January 2015. Please watch
for your October ‘Talk of the Walk’ for mailing dates, submission
dates for the ‘Notice of Intent to be a Candidate’ forms and further
candidate information, and the mailing dates for notice of a Special
Members’ Meeting and Annual Meeting, outlining this important
election and the election date.

Landscaping/Irrigation Concerns?
Messages
lease notify Mainscape if you are experiencing any
landscaping issues. Report dead plants, unhealthy or
sickly plant material, or any pest issues to customerservice@
mainscape.com. You may also call 1-800-481-0096. Doing
this will generate a work order which is tracked by the HOA
office. Response time is within 72 business hours.
From Your
P
All irrigation issues need to be reported directly to the HOA
office: 239-949-9909. Please report issues with broken
sprinkler heads, heads that are hitting the home directly, main
line breaks as soon as these are seen. Napier makes every
effort to respond quickly to these concerns. As we grow larger
it is important and appreciated that owners report issues
directly to the HOA office as quickly as possible.
Post Office
P
lease do not place large packages in the large blue
post box as the large boxes clog the box and interfere
with opening the box. Please bring large packages inside
the post office for mailing.
Please remember to pick
up your mail. Mail boxes
are small and get overfilled
quickly. Mail that is not
picked up regularly will be
returned to the Bonita Springs
Post Office for pick up.
As the community grows it is
even more important to remove any large deliveries from
the parcel boxes as soon as you receive the parcel box key.
Remember to leave the parcel box key inside the parcel box
or in the box lock after you have retrieved your parcel.
AT THE POOL
“Food and beverages are prohibited in the pool and on
the pool wet deck area; animals and glass containers are
prohibited within the fenced pool area, or 50 feet from the
pool edge when no fence exists.” Per Florida Administration Code 64E-9.004 (4). Anyone found in violation will be
asked to leave the pool and their privileges may be revoked
indefinitely. There will be random patrols of the pool weekdays and weekends.
In the event the Health Department inspector conducts a
surprise visit on the weekends when the management team is
gone, the inspector will close down the pool and fine the association if he finds people with food or drink in the pool or on the
pool deck. The HOA defines the pool deck as ten feet from the
water’s edge. Please be courteous and simply read the rules
posted at the pool and abide by them: these rules are posted
for the health and well-being of all.
REMINDERS:
• The Construction Gate is private property and may
not be used by th e residents to either enter or exit the
community. This gate is monitored by the Lee County

• Please obey all traffic laws when riding bicycles on the
streets of the community, including stop signs. If riding on

Owners are still responsible for contacting Mainscape with any
landscaping concerns either by calling 1-800-481-0096, or through
emailing [email protected]. This does not change.
The quad inspections will allow the Town Manager, Mainscape
landscaping supervisor and Napier on-site manager to look at each
home every month. Plant installs will be completed within two weeks
of an approved proposal, and will take place within 2-3 weeks of
inspection.
This system will allow Mainscape to focus on one quad to complete all
installs, and Napier to focus on quad irrigation monitoring and additional
water if needed. Keeping the watering to one quad at a time should help
the installs without going over our current watering restrictions. This
schedule also allows for re-inspection of the installs 1 – 2 weeks after
install.
PLEASE NOTE: Additional water will only be applied when more than
50% of the bed or lawn has been replaced. Less than that requires
the resident to water in the plants or sod for 30 days, 10 minutes in the
morning and 10 minutes in the afternoon.
