SUZUKI V6 OUTBOARDS: SETTING STANDARDS FOR
TECHNOLOGY, POWER, AND PERFORMANCE.
Award Winning, Proven Technologies
Recognized three times by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) for innovative
technologies and design, Suzuki’s flagship V6 four-stroke outboards are setting and redefining
the standards by which other outboards are judged. Double Overhead Cam (DOHC) 24-valve
powerheads and electronic fuel injection are featured across the V6 lineup. While the DF300AP,
DF250AP, and DF250 feature Variable Valve Timing (VVT) for increased low to mid-range torque,
the DF250 and DF225 take advantage of a multi-stage induction system to gain maximum top-end
performance. Using a 55-degree V-block design, Suzuki engineers have managed to pack all of this
award winning power and performance into an incredibly compact design.
Suzuki Selective Rotation
The DF300AP and DF250AP were the world’s first outboards to feature Suzuki Selective Rotation,
an ingenious technology that allows the same outboard to operate in either standard rotation
(clockwise) or counter-rotation (counter-clockwise) modes. Switching operation requires adding
a special connector to an internal circuit and installing a propeller matching the desired rotation.
While increasing the versatility of these outboards, this innovative technology eliminates the need
to purchase a dedicated counter-rotation model, benefitting both the dealer and the owner.
*The special connector & propeller need to be purchased separately to change the rotation.
Suzuki Precision Control
The DF300AP and DF250AP feature Suzuki Precision Control, Suzuki’s computer-based drive-bywire control system, which makes operation easy with smooth, precise control and instantaneous,
crisp shifting.

Battery-less Fuel-Injection System
First introduced on the DF20A, DF15A, and DF9.9B, Suzuki’s battery-less fuel injection system is also featured on the DF30A
and DF25A. Combined with Suzuki’s Lean Burn Control system these outboards deliver remarkable fuel economy and reduced
emissions across the operating range.
Portables loaded with features
The DF6, DF5, and DF4 are powered by a single cylinder four-stroke OHV engine with a large 138cm3 displacement that
generates plenty of mid-range torque. A Digital Capacitor Discharge Ignition (CDI) system provides quick easy starts, smooth
idle, and quick throttle response. Combine that with their light weight these outboards produce excellent acceleration. The tiller
handle incorporates a full sized grip, steering and throttle tension, F-N-R shifting, 180˚ steering, and a built-in rev limiter. A large
1.5-liter integral fuel tank gives these outboards good range while a large carrying handle increase their portability.

MULTI-STAGE INDUCTION
Multi-Stage Induction enhances engine performance
by equipping each cylinder with a long and short intake
manifold. The longer pipes are optimized to deliver smooth
and efficient airflow to the cylinders during lower rpm
operation, boosting low-end torque. Valves on the shorter,
direct intake pipes open up during higher rpm operation
boosting high-speed power output. (DF250, DF225, DF200AP,
DF200A, DF175TG, DF150TG, DF175, DF150)
VARIABLE VALVE TIMING SYSTEM (VVT)
Using Suzuki’s advanced Variable Valve Timing to vary the
timing of the intake valves by optimizing camshaft timing,
Suzuki engineers have gained greater low and mid range
torque from the engine, optimizing power output across
the entire operating range of the outboard. The system is
controlled by hydraulic pressure from the oil pump and the
process happens automatically so all you have to do is enjoy
the power and performance. (DF300AP, DF250AP, DF250, DF200AP,
DF200A, DF175TG, DF175)
HIGH ENERGY ROTATION

LEAN BURN
Fuel economy is an important issue for all boaters. Suzuki’s
Lean Burn Fuel Control Technology is designed to save fuel
both at low speed and up into the cruising range by predicting
fuel needs according to operating conditions then delivering
an optimum mixture of fuel and air to the engine. (Models from
the DF9.9B to DF300AP except for DF250,DF225,DF200,DF175,DF150)
Data used in the graphs was obtained through in-house testing under
uniformed conditions. Results will vary depending upon operating conditions
(boat design, size, weight, weather, etc.)
COMPARISON OF FUEL ECONOMY (DF300AP vs, Original DF300)

across each of the engine’s operating ranges optimizing fuel delivery
regardless of rpm. (DF300AP, DF250AP, DF200AP, DF200A, DF140A, DF115A, DF100A)
BATTERY-LESS ELECTRONIC FUEL INJECTION
The DF20A, 15A, and 9.9B were first in class to feature fuel injection, and
Suzuki engineers did an incredible job designing this system without adding
unneeded bulk or weight to the outboard. System components, which
include an inline high-pressure fuel pump, throttle body, fuel cooler, vapor
separator, and fuel injector, are redesigned scaled down versions of those
found in our high-end outboards. The system operates battery-less, another
industry wide first in class, delivering quicker starts, smoother running
performance, and more acceleration in all conditions without the need of
battery power. (DF30A, DF25A, DF20A, DF15A, DF9.9B)
MULTI-POINT SEQUENTIAL ELECTRONIC FUEL INJECTION
The first four-stroke outboards to feature Multi-Point Sequential Electronic
Fuel Injection were engineered by Suzuki. Providing quicker starts and
smoother acceleration this is a standard feature on all of our outboards
from the DF9.9B through our flagship DF300AP.
HYDRODYNAMIC GEAR CASE

Suzuki engineers streamlined the gear case with a hydrodynamic
design that allows the lower unit to move through the water with
less drag. This contributes to quicker acceleration, more speed,
and better fuel economy. (DF300AP, DF250AP, DF90A, DF80A, DF70A)
RELIABILITY
SELF-ADJUSTING
TIMING CHAIN
On every model from over the
DF40A, the timing chain runs in
an oil-bath, so it never needs
lubricating, and is equipped with
an automatic hydraulic tensioner,
so it remains properly adjusted
at all times. Simple, effective and
maintenance-free.
18
TWO-WAY WATER INLET
The engine’s cooling system relies on water
supplied through low water intakes located on
the lower unit. Utilizing this dual low water inlet
configuration increases water flow into the lower
unit, which delivers greater cooling efficiency.
Positioning the forward inlet at the front of
the gear case delivers a greater water supply
especially at high speeds. The second inlet is also
positioned lower allowing the DF300AP/250AP to
operate in shallow water conditions.
LEADING THE INDUSTRY WITH AWARD WINNING TECHNOLOGY AND DESIGNS,
SUZUKI OUTBOARDS PROVIDE FEATURES AND BENEFITS THAT MAKE
BOATING MORE ENJOYABLE
INNOVATION
This revolutionary design integrates both standard and
counter-rotation gears in a single lower unit eliminating
the need to purchase a dedicated counter-rotation
outboard. Models equipped with this feature can
operate in standard clockwise rotation, or in counterclockwise rotation by activating a special connector to a
circuit inside the engine and installing a counter rotation
propeller. *The special connector & propeller need to be purchased
separately to change the rotation. (DF300AP, DF250AP, DF200AP)
This technologically advanced system is a computerbased drive-by-wire control system that eliminates the
friction and resistance of mechanical control cables.
Operation is smooth and precise with crisp, immediate
shifting that is most evident in the low rpm range and
when maneuvering around the marina and in close
quarters. The system is configurable for single, twin,
triple, or quad installations, and for dual stations.
Combined with the Suzuki Lean Burn Control System
it helps improve fuel efficiency over a wide operating
range. (DF300AP, DF250AP, DF200AP, DF175TG, DF150TG)

power and performance.
USER FRIENDLY
QUIET OPERATION
Engine noise on large boats can make it difficult to
relax. Suzuki outboards run unbelievably quiet, so
much so that some users have thought the engine
was switched off. They may be exaggerating but
Suzuki outboards have long been noted for their quiet
operation.
The DF200A/200AP are fitted with a resonator on the
intake manifold. Often overlooked as a noise source, air
sucked into the intake manifold at high velocities can
generate a harsh noise. Adding the resonator reduces
such noise keeping operation exceptionally quiet.
SUZUKI EASY START SYSTEM
Simply turn the key and release (or push the button),
and the starter stays engaged until the engine starts.
The system offers smoother and improved starts.

(Directive 94/25/EC as amended by Directive 2003/44/EC)*2, and receive a
three-star rating from the California Air Resources Board (CARB).
Suzuki’s Anti-Corrosion Finish is specially formulated to protect your
outboard from the harms of salt and fresh water. Applied directly to the
aluminum to maximize bonding the finish is covered with an epoxy primer
undercoat, colored base coat, and finally a clear acrylic resin topcoat.

FUEL FILTER - EXTERNAL
Fuel filters prevent any
debris or water in the fuel
from getting into the engine.
They should be checked and
drained/cleaned as necessary.
OIL & FILTER CHANGE
A contaminated oil filter can no
longer filter impurities, which
may lead to engine damage and
increased bearing wear.
FUEL FILTER - INTERNAL
SPARK PLUGS
Fuel filters prevent any debris
or water in the fuel from
getting into the engine. They
will need to be replaced
according to the schedule in
your Owner’s Manual.
Spark plug deterioration can
cause engine malfunction,
poor starting and performance
as well as an increase in
emissions.
ANODES
Anodes help protect your
outboard from corrosion. If they
are not maintained or replaced
regularly, galvanic corrosion will
damage underwater aluminium
components.
ENGINE OIL
Regular oil changes keeps
your engine clean, reduces
wear and prevents internal
corrosion.
PROPELLER MAINTENANCE
LOWER UNIT GEAR BOX OIL
Regular replacement of the
gear oil is important. Your
outboard’s lower unit works
hard and eventually the gear
oil’s lubricating effectiveness
will be broken down.
MAINTENANCE KITS
We’re now offering complete maintenance kits on a range
of Suzuki outboards. Each kit has the complete range
of Suzuki Genuine Parts required for servicing Suzuki
outboards according to the periodical maintenance
schedule as detailed in the owner’s manual.
*Includes parts that require exchange at the dealer.
It is important to maintain your
propeller for optimal efficiency
and performance. Make sure to
remove the propeller, check it
for any damage. Also check the
propshaft for any damage and
remove in fishing line, as this can
damage the lower unit oil seal.
Repair or replace the prop if
necessary and re-apply grease to
the spline before re-installing.
