Christopher Discovery Camp at
Camp Christopher is more than a way to keep
your loved one busy during the summer. The camp
experience challenges persons with disabilities to
participate in new
and exciting activities.
Since it’s inception
in the 1960’s,
Christopher Discovery
Camp has grown to
be one of the most
popular programs
in Ohio. Camp
makes everyone
feel welcomed and
included while
challenging all
campers to reach their
full potential.
With the help of trained staff, campers set goals and
choose appropriate activities including: swimming,
horseback riding, hiking, crafts, songs, low ropes
challenge courses, fishing, canoeing and more.
Campers who attend Christopher Discovery Camp
carry the positive gains made during their stay into
their home and community settings.
Christopher Discovery Camp at Camp Christopher is
available for as little as one week or up to the entire
summer. Campers stay in ramped, dormitory style
cabins segregated by gender, bunk beds and one
in-cabin restroom. Although some terrain on the
campgrounds is rough, the facility includes walkways
to and from key areas.
Christopher Discovery Camp On The Road
has been providing travel opportunities and recreation for
persons with disabilities for over 20 years. Travelers have
visited exciting cities like Chicago, Washington, DC, and
Nashville, as well as many destinations throughout the state
of Ohio. The excitement of traveling is an excellent way
to experience new things, improve social skills and further
one’s independence.
Christopher Discovery Camp On the Road provides more
than memories. Many of our travelers return each year
just to be in the company of close friends. Travelers
enjoy seeing landmarks and places of national interest
for themselves, instead of on television or in a postcard.
The joy of traveling independently leads to a sense
of accomplishment and increased sense of personal
confidence. Our vacations allow travelers to proudly say,
“Look where I have been!”

participants. Throughout your stay at camp or time on a
trip, the staff learns quickly about each participant and
is able to customize the program to best fit the needs of
most individuals.

including education, special education and psychology.
All staff members are fingerprinted and must pass a
criminal background check.
Health and Safety

first aid personnel available at all times. A registered

Completion of the personal care forms is essential to
coordinating the proper service for each individual.
