East Coast Open Entry Fee:
Youth/Amateur Divisions: $40
Elite & JR Expert Division (Cash Purse): $60
Access to the Bike Trails at Blue Mountain:
All participants must have a valid Blue Mountain Bike Park season’s pass OR their East
Coast Open 3 day trail pass in order to ride the course & additional trails. Visitors or guests
who are not racing will need to purchase a regular trail pass at guest services.
East Coast Open Trail Pass (3 days):
$75 +hst. Valid Friday June 24th – Sunday June 26th 2016 for race participants only. ECO
trail pass will allow riders access to the race course as well as Blue Mountain’s open DH
trails (Regular price on day lift ticket is $43)

*East Coast Open trail pass pricing will remain the same for the duration of the weekend. Participants
arriving Sunday only can purchase a lift ticket at the regular price.

Downhill Course: Race Course will take place on Shotglass and will consist of a course
comprised of jumps, berms, technical root and rock sections.

Seeding Runs:
Weather permitting, Seeding Runs will take place on Saturday June 25th for all divisions.
Seeding will be based off of UCI standings for Elite/Open divisions, as well as the results
from East Coast Open 2015 for all amateur divisions. In the case of inclement weather on
Sunday June 26th the final results will be the results from the Seeding round.

Registration
Pre-Registration link will be posted online at Bluemountain.ca/eastcoastopen. ALL payment
must be made on-site at athlete check in. ALL payment for registration will be ON SITE
only. Cash, credit or debit accepted.
On-site registration will take place in the Cascade Room, Grand Central Lodge.
All participants MUST SIGN the event waiver.
Participants who are under the age of 18 must wear full armour, have a parent or
legal guardian on-site to sign the event waiver and be prepared to undergo the annual
assessment. It is strongly recommended for participants under the age of 18 to arrive early
so they give themselves enough time to undergo the assessment. The assessment can be
done anytime during Blue Mountain Bike Park operating hours, and needs to be completed
one time annually. HELMETS ARE MANDATORY FOR ALL RACERS
**Racers under the age of 18 who have already undergone their annual assessment, and
who do not have a parent available to attend the event, can bring their signed waiver to
the race. Please email [email protected] for a copy of the waiver. It will also be
posted on bluemountain.ca/pedalfest

Team Pits
10x10 and 10x20 spaces are available for team pits at the base of the course. All teams
must register ahead of time by Wednesday June 22nd at the latest to claim a spot
as space is limited. Please fill out the following details and email them to elangman@
bluemountain.ca. No sales or sampling of product will be permitted. Please review the
policy and procedures for team pits listed at the end of this document. For those teams
flying in from out of province tents can be made available for you upon request.
There is no dedicated overnight security for team pits.
**Teams are required to provide a certificate of insurance labeling Blue Mountain Resorts
Limited Partnership and Blue Mountain Resorts GP Inc. and Intrawest ULC as additionally
insured for 5 million in general liability by Wednesday June 25th. Address on the COI

Prizing: Canada Cup Divisions:
• All riders must finish their race to receive Canada Cup points
• Top five (5) athletes in each Canada Cup category will be presented at the official award
ceremonies
• Riders must wear clean cycling clothes or official team/sponsor casual clothes (bottom
and top part) for the awards ceremony.
• Failure to comply will result in the loss of award (including prize money)

• UCI points will be awarded in accordance with the level of sanction for Junior/Elite DHI,
junior and U23/Elite XCO category.
• All athletes who have placed lower than 5th place, but that are still entitled for prizes in
accordance with the prize money awarded by the race, must collect their prizes from the
Chief Commissaire or the Technical Delegate after the award ceremonies. Failure to comply,
with no pre-notification, will result in the loss of prizes (including prize money)
• The Canada Cup leader jersey will be distributed at the award ceremonies by the Chief
Commissaire or the Technical Delegate.
Prizing Amateur Divisions
Top three riders in each division will be awarded prizing from event sponsors.
Poor Weather/Course Closures
In the event of severe weather the race may be delayed, but every effort will be made to
continue with the event. Blue Mountain reserve the right to close the course at any time for
safety purposes. In the case of lighting the race will be delayed a half hour.

Blue Mountain Bike Rules and Regulations:
All riders will be required to complete a waiver and view an orientation/educational video
prior to picking up a Season Pass, East Coast Open Pass or first lift ticket or rentals of the
season. This process can be completed online or on-site at event registration. Riders 17 and
under MUST complete the Waiver Process with a parent or legal guardian. Upon completion,
riders will be issued a photo ID Bike Park Pass which will be required for all subsequent lift
ticket or rental purchases. Administration fee will be included in the entry fee.

Please note waiver process must be completed by all riders and renters.

Riders age 13 to 17 years:
Must complete the Rider Assessment.
All downhill riders 17 and under are required to wear a full face helmet and full armour
(arms, legs, chest and back protection).
Rider Assessment
Ages: All riders 17 years of age and under
Cost: Free
Length: Less than 60 minutes
Assessment: Basic braking, cornering and decision-making skills on blue and black terrain.
NOTE: We strongly recommend that all new downhill riders participate in a lesson.
Bike Park Pass mandatory for all DH Riders

Barricades
The entire course is taped off from top to bottom to ensure that riders know course
boundaries at all times as well as to protect spectators from accidentally wandering into
danger.

Alcohol
Blue Mountain wishes to promote a safe and healthy environment for all of those taking
part in its events. As such, alcoholic beverages are strictly forbidden outside of restaurant
areas at all times. This rule will be strictly enforced and those caught in violation will be
asked to remove themselves from the event grounds.

Start/Finish Areas
Both the start and finish areas will be clearly marked and will allow room for riders
staging at the start line and slowing down after the finish. Areas will also be taped off and
marshaled to avoid spectators wandering into danger.
Technical Assistance Regulation
Riders will not be able to perform maintenance on their equipment anywhere on the race
course, this includes the start and finish areas. If a rider suffers a mechanical failure
while on the course, they are asked to walk their bicycle off of the course and perform
maintenance in the pit or parking lot areas. This is due to concerns of both safety and
pacing throughout the event.

UCI rulebook will apply to all Canada Cup categories
• OCA rules are available online at: http://www.ontariocycling.org/commissaires/
commissaires-rules/. The penalty scale of the OCA rulebook will apply to all Amateur
Categories
• Every rider must read the Cyclists Responsibility Code listed in this document before
participating in this event.
• Races will start promptly at the indicated start times.
• Any rider dropping out of the race shall immediately notify a Commissaire.
• Failure to report a DNF may result in a penalty.
• In the event of a red flag during a race run, a rider may ask the Chief Commissaire for a
re-run. The grant of a re-run will only be given by the Chief Commissaire.
• A rider shall not enter or ride on the course when it is outside of the published practice /
race times. If a rider is caught on the course outside of the prescribed time this will result
in disqualification from the race.
• Top 5 finishers for Canada Cup categories, and top 3 finishers for amateur categories are
required to attend award presentations or risk forfeiting their awards.
• In case of lightning, the race may be delayed or cancelled. If you are informed that the
race has been stopped due to lightning, you are advised to seek shelter until the race can
resume. There are no refunds if the race must be cancelled.
• All riders must sign in at registration.
• Riders at all times must obey instructions given by marshals, organizational staff,
Commissaires and OCA staff, failure to do so could result in being disqualified from the
race.
• Riders are required to complete one full practice run on the Sunday prior to their race run,
failure to do so will result in a DNS (did not start).

• A full-face helmet must be worn properly both when racing and when training for Downhill
on the course. The helmet must be fitted with a visor. Open-face helmets may not be worn.
• During practice yellow and red flags will be used along with whistles to communicate with
the riders. A yellow flag warns the rider to slow down as there could be a rider down in front
of them and a red flag means that the rider must stop.
• During the race only red flags will be used. If a marshal holds up a red flag the rider must
stop immediately. In the event that this does happen the rider will be issued a re-run.
• All official runs must start at the start gate
• You must be at the top of the run 30 minutes prior to your race run.

All race participants should park at the South Base Lodge. Follow signs to parking lot #1 off
Mountain Road/Grey Road 19.

• ! Follow straight through the lights and continue along Airport Road to
the next intersection at HWY #89
• At this intersection you will see the Heritage Museum across the street
on your right.

Stayner.

• At the set of lights in Stayner (Tim Hortons will be on your right), continue straight through.
• You will now be on Hwy #26 West
• At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto ON-26
•At the second roundabout, take the 2nd exit and stay on ON-26

Home Furniture on left), follow the ramp to the right – you will still be on
Hwy #26 West
• Proceed along Hwy #26 West until you see the stop lights at the First
Street/Hurontario Street intersection (Loblaws will be on your left and
bulk barn on your right), go straight through those lights and the next
two sets of lights until you reach the third set of lights with Holiday Inn
Express on the right and Mac’s Milk on your left.

Medical/Hospitals
There will be course marshals and first aid attendants present on the course should
medical attention be needed. Below are directions to the nearest hospital.

Policies and Proceedures:
Team Pits
1. Vendor Licenses may be denied, terminated or revoked at any time and for any
reason at the sole discretion of the Event and its organizers without recourse, rebate
or refund to the Vendor.
2. All team must supply their own 10x10 tents, including sidewalls, interior lighting, and
sand bags to secure your tents and must conform to the fire and safety standards
outlined below.
3. All tents must have a tent/fabric tag showing CAN/ULC S 109-M or NFPA #
701 standard for flame tests of Flame Resistant Fabrics and Films as proof of fire &
safety standards compliance for all tents and fabrics.
4. Team spacing and placement/location is at the sole discretion of the Event
Organizing Committee and will not be changed without the express permission of the
Event committee or the vendor coordinators.
6. A valid contact name and on site cell phone number must be provided on the
Application Form for the team to be considered for inclusion. Selection is on a
first come, first serve basis.
7. Please note, that the Event or its organizers do not accept any responsibility whatsoever
for theft or damage to the tents or any products left behind, exposed, or unsecured once
a team has closed down their booth or left that booth unattended for any length of
time.
8. To teams requiring electrical power: Limited power will be available in the team pits.
Please plan to bring your own generator is power is needed
9. No product sales or sampling will be permitted in the team pits
10. No vehicles or trailers will be permitted in the team pits.

SAFETY POLICIES:
1. No smoking or open flame devices permitted under tents. Tents must not be accessible
to the public.
2. Approved electrical cords only, and they must be covered with acceptable matting or
securely elevated.
3. Every tent, tarpaulins and decorative materials used in conjunction with tents shall
conform to CAN/ULC S 109-M Standard for flame tests of Flame Resistant Fabrics and
Films or NFPA #701.
