The Everlasting Light

the body, and to be present with the Lord.
Home At Last
John’s message and legacy is this: that each person here
would choose a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the
living, loving Savior who John loved so much and came to
know as Lord of his life. At this moment John is now more
alive than ever in heaven, a place better by far. Come to the
foot of the cross humbly, and enter in by the blood of Jesus
for without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of
sins.
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one
comes to the Father except through Me.
– John 14:6
John Douglas Fairburn
John Douglas Fairburn of Greensboro, GA, born January 24, 1939 went
home to be with his Lord And Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, July 6,
2014 at the age of 75. He was born in Philadelphia, PA to Mildred Dreyer
Fairburn and John Douglas Montegue Fairburn, who preceded him in
death along with his older sister, Dorothy Fairburn Roberts. He is survived
by his wife of 46 years, Janice Jones Fairburn and sister, Lynne Gabriel
(Dennis) , 6 nephews and 2 nieces. John graduated from Grady High in
Atlanta in 1956 and attended the Citadel from 1956-1957. He graduated
from Ohio Christian School with a Master’s degree and served in the Coast
Guard Reserves for several years. He was employed at Atlanta-Journal
Constitution from 1962-1964 in advertising sales. From 1964-1992 he
was employed by Planters Life Savers Candy Division as a wholesaleretail sales representative covering many stores in two-thirds of Georgia.
After living in Covington for 25 years, they moved to Asheville, NC living
there for 8 years and returned to Georgia where they retired at Reynolds
Plantation on Lake Oconee in 2004. John was a member of First Baptist
Church, Atlanta (Charles Stanley, pastor) and also attended Lake Oconee
Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Men’s Bible Study Group.
He loved studying God’s Holy Word and depending on his Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ as his anchor.
Memorial Services will be held, Friday, July 18, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Lake
Oconee Presbyterian Church, 113 Scott Road, Eatonton, GA 31024 with
Rev. John McMillian, Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends after
the service at the church. Serving as honorary pallbearers are members
of the Men’s Bible Study Group, his golfing buddies, the Birthday Bunch,
and the CBS Sisters. The family requests that any memorials be made to
Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church, 113 Scott Road, Eatonton, GA 31024
or the Christian Jew Foundation, 611 Broadway Street, San Antonio,
