North Shore-LIJ Moves to the Boundary Avenue Professional Building
NS-LIJ’s STARS program joins the impressive roster of tenants at 200
Boundary Avenue in Massapequa.
Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation Services (STARS) started as an orthopedic therapy
in 1995, and evolved within several years to meet the needs of a diverse population.
The program added hand, aquatic, vestibular and balance, as well as neurological
rehabilitation and orthopedic therapy for those with spinal cord injuries or strokes.
Today, the organization helps hundreds of clients find relief from pain and get
moving again after an accident, injury, illness or surgery. Each STARS location is
staffed by licensed therapists experienced in the latest technology. STARS is also
affiliated with the MS Society, Arthritis Foundation and Strength for Life.
“We have had a very positive experience from the moment we signed our lease.
T. Weiss Realty kept our build out on schedule, and the initial response by the
community to our service has been overwhelming,” stated Daniel M. Vaknin, senior
director of North Shore-LIJ Outpatient Rehabilitation/ STARS.

TOTUS Business Center Adapts to Officing Trends
Letter from the CEO
Workplace Trends Are Changing
When I began my career in the workplace, each employee
had a dedicated workspace to conduct their business within.
Several years later, businesses evolved to give managers
offices with windows, and other employees were moved into
cubicles. Eventually, ceiling-high cubicle walls were reduced
to eye level, and employees began communicating and
collaborating with each other more frequently.
Today, the workplace is still evolving. The way that people
work is trending towards a more collective, team
environment where employees can seamlessly work with
colleagues from anywhere in the world. Staff sizes have
shrunk as technology has improved, and employees have
become more proficient. Wi-Fi, tablets and mobile computers enable work to be conducted
24/7 from a train, coffee shop, or an office.
Many of our tenants now desire open layouts where senior level executives work in interior
offices and natural light shines in on the remainder of employees who work in low-walled
cubicles, or at ergonomically friendly desks with stand-while-you-work capabilities. Employees
are working without barriers and conducting business in a more communal atmosphere.
I believe these trends will prevail into the upcoming decade. Offices will continue to
embrace shared work spaces and communal lounge-like areas. Employees will continue to
evolve with changes in communication to work in new business settings. Office layouts, as we
know them will adapt, and we look forward to seeing the future of officing.
Yours Truly,
Ted Weiss

TOTUS Business Center Embraces Changes in Officing
TOTUS Business Center in Melville re-vamps office spaces to embrace the new way of working.
With advancements in technology, and recent trends indicating a change in officing, the TOTUS Business Center recently introduced several
new work areas to accommodate the unique requirements of today’s office space users. Team rooms were created to better serve firms
looking for a more collaborative work environment. Flex space was also reserved to accommodate companies whose personnel needs
fluctuate from day to day.
Co-working is another trend on the rise that is influencing office centers today, where
employees share a work space and utilize Wi-Fi as well as collaborative work surfaces
to take advantage of a more creative and team-centered work concept. To embrace
this trend, TOTUS expanded the center’s Wi-Fi coverage and updated shared work
spaces to better serve multipurpose uses.
