SEASON SPONSORS
of Majestic Downtown Entertainment
2015 / 2016
Welcome to the 2015–2016 Season
On Saturday, November 14, 2015, Gettysburg College’s Majestic Theater will celebrate
its 90th birthday which is traditionally marked by diamonds, a symbol of strength
and beauty. The Majestic was envisioned as “the cultural crossroads of the college
and the community” by its builder, Henry Scharf, long-time manager of the
Gettysburg Hotel and a graduate of Gettysburg College. Over the course
of 90 years, Majestic has displayed “strength and beauty” from countless,
memorable movies and sweet smooches in the balcony to high school
and college graduations to the Eisenhower years to surviving the 1983
Gettysburg Hotel fire, and eventually to its 2005 transformation into
the magnificent Jennifer and David LeVan Performing Arts Center
that presents world renowned artists and celebrates the cultural
heritage of Adams County.
It’s a season to celebrate. Join us! Help us honor the past,
present and future of “America’s grandest small town
theater.” I’ll be looking for you in the lobby.
Jeffrey Gabel
Founding Executive Director

succinct and thoughtful comments about the
music they perform.”
Peter Van Zandt Lane, The Boston Musical Intelligencer
“Imani Winds isn’t your typical wind quintet. Although it
plays the standard classical repertoire, it also sinks its teeth
into jazz, Latino, African, Middle Eastern and any other style

Arlo Guthrie
Alice’s Restaurant
50th Anniversary Tour
In 1965, an incident inspired Arlo Guthrie to write a
clever, rambling tirade of a song at the Newport Folk
Festival that seemed to sum up all the sentiments of the
1960s counterculture. Alice’s Restaurant, the hit song and
the record, launched his career, later became a Hollywood film,
and helped foster a new political commitment among his generation.
American folk music royalty, Guthrie carries on his family’s legacy
in concerts that combine inspirational music with timeless stories
steeped in social consciousness.
This concert has been selling-out all over
the country so buy your tickets today!

from the Beijing Concert Hall and New York’s Metropolitan
