ISSUE 14 18th December 2015 A Fantastic First Term What a great first term it has been for us all here at Brunswick Primary. The two schools have amalgamated smoothly and it has been good to hear so many positive comments from parents and carers; your support has made the whole process so much easier. The Autumn Term has been rounded off by some excellent Christmas performances by each year group. The hard work and commitment of both the children and the staff meant that they were really successful and signalled the start of Christmas for us. Brunswick Website: FOR A WEALTH OF SCHOOL INFORMATION, INCLUDING DATES FOR THE YEAR, PLEASE LOOK ON OUR WEBSITE: I need to say a big thank you to all of our children for their work this term, the school www.brunswick.brightonhas a real buzz about it and visitors to the school always comment on how well hove.sch.uk behaved, hardworking and polite our children are. I am always incredibly proud to hear feedback about our school. I would also like to thank our wonderful staff for their commitment to ensuring that our children receive a great education, to the parents and carers for your continued support and to our governors for their role in leading our new school. I hope you have a lovely Christmas break and a prosperous New Year. We will see you safe and sound when the school reopens for the Spring Term on Tuesday 5th January 2016. Mr Collins Goodbye and Good Luck This term we are saying goodbye to Mr Baker who is leaving us to take up a post as a Year 5 teacher at St Luke’s Primary School. During his six years with us he has been a key person in Year 6, ensuring that the children in his care have been given the very best education possible. He has also spent time as PE Subject Leader and more recently as a member of the team developing writing across the school. He will be missed and we wish him all the very best for the future. Eagle class will end their educational journey at Brunswick with Danielle Butler who will be returning to us in the New Year. She is very excited by this prospect as she knows the children very well from her time in Year 5. We are also saying a big thank you and fond farewell to Katie McAllister who is leaving us after nearly 7 years as a teaching assistant with the Infants. The school has really benefitted from Katie’s caring manner with the children and her very thorough and professional approach in all she undertakes. Katie’s association with the school started Reminders and Requests: Please could we politely ask parents not to use the school car park thank you Please could you let afterschool clubs know directly if your child will not be attending a session. ISSUE 14 18th December 2015 long before she joined us as a member of staff. As a parent, she worked tirelessly for the Friends of the School Association and the whole community benefited from Katie’s amazing cooking skills at many Christmas fairs! It is with great sadness that we say goodbye, but we wish her all the very best as she returns to her original career in nursing. Welcome to Brunswick Next term we will be welcoming James Coulter to the Year 3 team. He will be taking over from Alison Colbran who has been appointed as Deputy Head Teacher for the last two terms of this academic year. We are really pleased that she has stepped up into this position during this very busy time in the school’s development and she will be a great asset to our Senior Leadership Team. Ms Colbran will remain as Year 3 Leader during this time to oversee the work taking place in the year group. James will be working as a class teacher in Iguana class until the end of the academic year and we are looking forward to him joining us. We will also be welcoming two new teaching assistants to the Infants in the New Year. Both Rhys Baylie and Donna Maloney will be joining our team. Christmas Charity 2015 Thanks to your huge generosity our school raised a fantastic £595.00 for the NSPCC. I know this will be greatly appreciated by the charity. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed. Side by Side Christmas Party Thank you to everyone who came along to the party on Monday, a fabulous time was had by all.
