Your Opportunity The Dietitian: Delivers high quality clinical services and contributes to the development of clinical practices, procedures and protocols within the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics within Toowoomba Health Service, in accordance with professional standards and local needs. Your Role Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service values, as outlined above. Clinical Practice: Deliver high level clinical services including clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, evaluation and education programs to a varied caseload based upon: − Principles of evidence based practice and clinical protocols − Use of valid outcome measures − Legal, ethical and professional obligations Continually develop high quality dietetics clinical skills and be able to increasing apply these to clinical practice by: − Participating in professional development and in-service training − Providing input into the development of clinical protocols − Participating in quality improvement projects Communication/Team Participation: Work cooperatively and effectively within the multi-disciplinary team and with patients / clients using competent negotiation, consultation and interpersonal skills with a client centred approach. Utilise clinical handover principles to ensure effective communication with the multidisciplinary team by maintaining accurate and regular reports of assessment, treatment and progress. Provide discharge summaries and written referrals/reports to outside agencies as required. Leadership/ Work Unit Management Participate in identification, development and implementation of quality, service improvement and research activities that enhance the delivery of dietetics services at the Toowoomba Hospital. Research, Education, Training and Evidence Based Practice Participate in and provide clinical education on core dietetics skills for undergraduate student fieldwork placements with the support of senior clinical staff. Provide direction to nutrition assistant and support staff. Undertake regular clinical practice supervision, follow defined service quality standards, occupational health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces. Mandatory Qualifications/Professional registration/Other requirements Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/ manager if you are the preferred candidate for employment. The successful applicant must hold a tertiary degree in Nutrition and Dietetics providing eligibility for membership of the Dietitians Association of Australia and Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD) status. Demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively manage workload and contribute to quality and clinical service improvement activities. Demonstrated ability or ability to rapidly acquire the skill to provide guidance to less experienced Dietitians, students and Nutrition assistants.
