Limited seating, please reserve in advance FRANZ LISZT A Presentation by Dr. Dale Wheeler, DMA Join us to hear esteemed Liszt Scholar, Senior RCM Teacher, Examiner and Clinician, Professor Dale Wheeler as he presents fascinating insights into the Life & Times of the Musical Genius, Franz Liszt. • His influences, historical significance and Legacy • How his multi-faceted character is revealed in his music • How his extraordinary technique reveals Liszt as a Virtuoso Pianist, Arranger, Conductor, Master Teacher, Poet and the Pre-Eminent “Piano Rock Star” of his Age in Vienna - the Musical Epicentre of Europe In addition, Mr. Simon Oss (Boesendorfer Klavierfabrik - Vienna, Austria) will present a brief history on the 187 year-old piano company and why Boesendorfer became Liszt’s piano of choice. Also in attendance will be a world limited edition of Boesendorfer 200th Anniversary Franz Liszt Grand Piano. He holds a doctorate in piano performance and pedagogy from the University of Oklahoma in addition to degrees from the University of Saskatchewan and Trinity College of Music, London. Dr. Wheeler has presented at local, national, and international conferences, including the European Piano Teachers’ Association (Serbia), the CFMTA/MTNA collaborative conference (Toronto) and the World Piano Pedagogy Conference (Dallas) among many others. Dr. Dale Wheeler Among his many achievements, Dr. Wheeler is a Liszt scholar and specialist. For Liszt’s bicentenary he presented an all-Liszt recital program throughout Western Canada and this past summer he spent several days in Budapest researching the life and music of Liszt. His research has been published in The Journal of the American Liszt Society. He was also a regular columnist for Clavier magazine and has had articles appear in other national publications. Dr. Wheeler has also appeared as a recitalist, accompanist, adjudicator, and clinician in both Canada and the United States. He is also a senior examiner and consultant for the Royal Conservatory of Music, and has conducted pedagogy workshops as part of the RCM Teacher Professional Development Seminars. Simon Oss has held several key roles in sales and marketing with Yamaha and Boesendorfer and is currently the Premium Piano Marketing Manager for Yamaha Corporation of America. Oss’s breadth of experience not only includes global sales and marketing, but also product development, production planning, brand development and artist relations. Oss brings with him a depth of knowledge and long history with Boesendorfer, serving as the Boesendorfer Sales manager for Austria, France, Switzerland and to all of Asia Pacific.
