Rio Samba Rio de Janeiro: sun, samba, football and especially the Brazilians. You can't miss this trip, you won't have the chance to visit this South American pearl every day Private transfer with English guides Complete incentive program Hotel 4 or 5 stars 6 nights – full board IRO JANE - IRO JANE E D RIO - A LHOS RAVI A M DE CIDA - IRO JANE E D RIO - O NEIR E JA D O RI - A LHOS RAVI A M DE CIDA - A DE J RIO Day 1 Rio de Janeiro - Arrival Upon arrival two Brazilian ladies in typical dress will welcome the guests at the international airport and our private air-conditioned bus will take you to your hotel in Copacabana where a fresh welcome drink is being prepared. The drive from the airport should not take longer than 60 minutes and along the way your guide will brief you on the events of the following days. After a refreshing shower, dinner will be served in the hotel and you can enjoy the rest of the evening to get over the jetlag. A visit to Brazil is only complete with a stop in Rio de Janeiro or the `Cidade Maravilhosa` as the Cariocas call their city. Everything here is thumbs up, body culture and the breathtaking surroundings of this spectacular Megapole of 11 million inhabitants. Rio is a city of contrasts and you either love it or hate it but you cannot stay unmoved by it. Day 02 Rio de Janeiro - Sugar Loaf We will pick you up after breakfast and bring you to the foot of the Sugar Loaf mountain where you will ride the cable car to the two levels. From above you can enjoy the splendid views of the Guanabara bay and the beach of Copacabana. You will have enough time to make the necessary pictures and will take the cable car back down. For the sports lovers: we can hike the first level on foot (very light) always accompanied by our guide off course. From here we will take the bus for a short drive to the Marina da Gloria and board the Pink Fleet. We will have lunch on this modern ship while it navigates through the Guanabara bay and gives you a change to see Rio de Janeiro from the same point of view as the Portuguese who arrived here in this same spot, 500 years ago. In the evening we will have dinner at the delicious seafood restaurant Marius (meat dishes also available) Did you know? that 500 years ago the Portuguese explorers mistook the Bahia de Guanabara for the delta of a river, wrongly giving the name of Rio (river) de Janeiro (it was the 1st of January 1500) to the town. Day 3 Rio de Janeiro – Samba day In the morning the hotels convention room will be at your disposition. Lunch will be served at the hotel and after this we will have a samba teacher to show you how to perform the famous samba passes. This will be at the hotels convention room, with a live trio and samba dancers. This should not take any longer than 3 hours after which you are free to spend your time as you wish. In the evening we are once again picking you up to have dinner and assist a samba and folk show to end the night on a joyful tone. Did you know? That Carnival has pre-Christian origins, some say it goes back as far as the times of the Egyptian Faraos. Today though, the biggest celebration of carnival is undoubtedly in Brazil. Day 4 Rio de Janeiro – Sports day This day will be dedicated to the national sport: football: XXXX – BRAZIL We will have personalized T-shirts and an opposing team of Brazilian amateurs waiting for a game of beach soccer. Let the best team win ! For those who are not interested we have not forgotten them and they will be able to make a bicycle tour from Copacabana to the Lagoa, accompanied always by our guides and a technical team. After this we are ready for a shower and a well deserved breakfast, but quickly because now we are heading to the Maracana stadium: the temple of football and the field where Pele scored his 1000th goaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal ! From the Maracana stadium we will head to downtown Rio de Janeiro for a lunch in style at the Art Deco Cafetaria Colombo and then a city tour through the streets where Rio de Janeiro really started 500 years ago. Back to the hotel for a shower and then we continue on the sports theme by visiting the horse track where dinner will be served and we might have the chance to see a horse race. Did you know? that football originated in China and only found its way to Brazil in the early 19th century. Did you know? That the rail track to the top of the mountain is 3.8 km long. Day 5 Rio de Janeiro – Corcovado and farewell party After breakfast we will visit one of the NEW 7 world wonders. We take the electrical train to climb the 700 meter high Corcovado mountain where the 35 meter high Cristo Redentor statue welcomes us with open arms. This is certainly the most spectacular view of the Cidade Maravilhosa and one you will never forget. Lunch today will be served at Rio's Porcao with a view on the Guanabara bay. The restaurant is a typical Brazilian steakhouse where different types of meat are served endlessly and a buffet of salads is available. We return to the hotel and you can use the afternoon for shopping or just relax at the beach or swimming pool. Get some rest because this evening will be our big farewell party on board of a ship (see next page). Did you know? Day 6 Rio de Janeiro – Farewell party The Casablanca is awaiting us with a buffet and open bar. A DJ will entertain you while you have your dinner and the ship starts to glide into the bay of Guanabara. After dinner when everybody starts to get in the mood it is time to put your samba lessons in practice (surprise). Beautiful ‘mulatas’ accompanied by drum players start the mini carnival and invite the passengers to show their samba skills during two hours, all this while the boat slowly sails through the bay on its way to Copacabana beach. When the mini carnival is finished a DJ will take over the music and entertain the guests until midnight when it is time to return to the hotel. that Samba originated as an African ritual on the old continent and was brought to Brazil by the slaves. Over the years it lost its ritual nature and became a dance incorporated in the Brazilian Carnival. Samba is also proper to Rio de Janeiro. Day 7 Rio de Janeiro – Return flight Sadly enough we will have to take you back to the airport for your return flight, but we are sure we will meet again, for you have lifted only a small tip of the veil that covers this magnificent country.
