Register Early
Low enrollment is the number one cause of cancelled
programs and trips. Registration is taken on a first-comefirst-served basis. We reserve the right to cancel any trip,
program, or activity due to insufficient registration. If a
class/trip does not have sufficient registration one week
prior to the beginning of the program it will be cancelled.
Don’t wait until the last minute to register!
Cancellation of a Program
Weather or other conditions may force us to cancel
or postpone a program. The Bureau will make every
effort to make the decision as early as possible. Once
a decision has been made the information will be
available through www.RainedOut.com. As a general
rule, if Abington School District has closed the schools,
Abington Parks and Recreation programs will also be
cancelled. www.RainedOut.com delivers timely alerts
directly to your mobile phone as SMS text messages or
to your email account. You will not receive any spam
or unsolicited content - all messages will be sent from
Abington Parks & Recreation. (a small ad is displayed
at the bottom of each message)
Payment for Program/Trip
Payment is due at the time of registration. You may
pay by Visa, Master Card, Discover, debit card, cash or
check. Checks should be made payable to: “ABINGTON
TOWNSHIP”. All returned checks will be assessed a fee of
$25.00. If it is a Briar Bush Nature Center program (pages
22-25), please visit their website: www.briarbush.org.
You will not receive a confirmation. For most programs
you will only be notified if there is a problem with your
registration.
Separate checks are encouraged. Why Separate Checks?
List all participants in the family on one form but send a
separate check for each program. With a single check, one
or more programs may be full and the entire registration
is held until we receive proper payment. Classes may fill
before we can resolve the problem. Separate checks are for
your benefit.
To receive up to date cancellation information on
all Abington Parks & Recreation Programs text
AbingtonParks to 84483. To receive email alerts, please
visit the Rained Out website to register.
There is no fee for joining or receiving alerts. Standard text
messaging rates do apply.
Refund Policy
There are no make-ups, pro-rating, or refunds for missed
classes/trips. A 20% service fee will be charged for all
refund requests, including pools. Requests must be made
at least five (5) business days before a program / thirty
(30) days before a trip is scheduled to begin / two (2)
weeks before the opening date of the pools. There will be
no service fee if the refund amount is applied to a future
program or the program is cancelled by the Township.
Refunds will not be issued once the program begins.
Non-Resident Policy
A Non-Resident is anyone not residing within the
boundaries of Abington Township. Non-Residents may
be charged a higher fee when registering for a program.

Half-Day Horse Camp is it! Children will spend between 60-90
minutes per day in the saddle and participate in various activities

and a few steps of trot. Lessons aim to help develop confidence and
motor-coordination skills while providing a supportive, fun, nonthreatening environment. This is a participatory program for parents
who so desire, and one may be asked occasionally to lend a hand.

must stay on location during the program.)

DAY TRIPS
New York City Day Trip
Annapolis Day Trip
Enjoy a day of shopping or sight-seeing
without the hassle of driving or parking. We
will be traveling by bus to New York City
where you will have the option of two drop
off points: The Theatre District (W. 48th
Street), or The Metropolitan Museum of Art
(E. 82nd Street). There will be one pick up
point, The Paramount Plaza (between 50th
and 51st Streets on Broadway).
Let us drive you to and from Annapolis where all roads
lead to the water and a nautical heritage that runs as deep
as the Chesapeake Bay is wide. Founded as Anne Arundel
Town in 1649, Annapolis became the capital of Maryland
in 1695 and the nation’s first peacetime capital in 1783.
Today, Annapolis boasts more
18th-century brick buildings than
any other city in the country and the
oldest State House in continuous
legislative use in the nation. A
Museum without Walls, Annapolis
is a lively, upbeat, contemporary
city where four centuries of
architecture embraces 21st-century
living. The homes of Maryland’s
four signers of the Declaration of
Independence still stand, and three
of them are open to the public. If
