All: And with your spirit. Penitential Act I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, All strike their breast three times during the following two lines: through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault; therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. Kyrie 6 A Community Mass 7 Second Reading Collect Liturgy of the Word First Reading Isaiah 32: 15-18 (proclaimed in Spanish by Juan Rodriguez, ChristLife) A reading from the Book of Isaiah Lectura del libro del Profeta Isaías: In those days: The spirit from on high will be poured out on us. Then will the desert become an orchard and the orchard will be regarded as a forest. Right will dwell in the desert and justice will abide in the orchard. Justice will bring about peace; right will produce calm and security. May people will live in peaceful country, in secure dwellings and quiet resting places. Reader: Palabra de Dios. All: Te alabamos, Señor. Responsorial Psalm 8 Psalm 85 Colossians 3:12-15 (proclaimed in English by Marie-Alberte Boursiquot, MD, FACP, Catholic Medical Association) A reading from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Colossians. Brothers and sisters: Put on, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if one has a grievance against another; as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also do. And over all these put on love, that is, the bond of perfection. And let the peace of Christ control your hearts, the peace into which you were also called in one Body. And be thankful. Finalmente, sean agradecidos. Reader: The Word of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God. Gospel Acclamation 9 Gospel (proclaimed in English) Deacon: The Lord be with you. All: And with your spirit. Deacon: A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew. All: Glory to you, O Lord. A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew. When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him. He began to teach them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven.” Liturgy of the Eucharist Matthew 5:1-12a Lectura del santo Evangelio según San Mateo. Presentation of the Gifts Preparation of the Altar and the Gifts Wilson Barnes Gary Dumer St. Thomas More Society of Maryland All Praise and Glad Thanksgiving Jesús, al ver toda aquella muchedumbre, subió al monte. The school started its existence in the town of Saint-Omer, Catholic Universities Loyola University Maryland near Calais, under the protection of Philip of Spain. It was known as St Omers College, and in 1762 it moved to Bruges. Then in1773 it moved to Liege and finally in 1794 to its present location at Stonyhurst in the northwest of England. It has three saints, twelve Beati and 22 martyrs in all, from among its alumni, executed in England between 1608 and 1680. The College was a sanctuary for rescued Catholic artefacts such as church silver, vestments, manuscripts and relics, which were targeted for destruction in 16th and 17th c England. These things were smuggled across the Channel with the boys who came to St Omers. The first object is known to have arrived at the College in 1609, and from this date we make our claim to be the oldest museum in the English speaking world. Stonyhurst cares for a highly significant collection of Catholic material culture, including royal vestments and books, medieval religious embroideries, illuminated manuscripts, and relics of saints and martyrs from the early Christian church up to Oscar Romero ( Jan Graffius, curator of collections at Stonyhurst, has been working on a project in El Salvador, preserving his relics since 2007). The relics of Thomas More and John Fisher, which Ms. Graffius is bringing to the US, were kept in the hands of family members before they were donated to the college. They will be displayed in small purposebuilt reliquaries.
