Michelle Riley, from Abbey Hulton, is kept busy looking after her
children Manni, aged two, and five-year-old Kodi, who is having
hospital treatment for epilepsy. The 31-year-old was nominated by
her mum, Pauline Drummond, who thought she deserved a treat

The make-up
Carly Leese, beauty therapist at Keido
Hair & Beauty salon, Hanley, says:
“Michelle wanted a look that was quite
natural, but had good coverage as she
had some blemishes.
“I used all Art Deco make-up on Michelle,
starting with a double finish foundation
and then giving her cheeks a rosy glow.
“I used greens and blues on her eyes to
bring out the blue of her eyes.
“The look was finished with a vibrant pink
lipstick.
“The make-up was kept quite simple but
a bit quirky with the splashes of colour.
“Michelle was happy with her make-up
and even bought some of the products to
try herself at home.”

Samantha Taylor, deputy manager at
Dorothy Perkins, Potteries Shopping
Centre, Hanley, says: “I picked out a few
outfits for Michelle and she seemed to
have great fun trying them all on.
“We settled on a pair of blue super
skinny jeans for £25, a coral and black
print top from our new Luxe range for
£26 and a white cropped style jacket,
also from Luxe for ££45.
“The look was completed with matching
coral high heels for £30 and clutch bag
for £15.
The verdict
Michelle says: “I had the most wonderful
time, I want to say a big thank you to
everyone and especially my mum.
“The salon did a great job of my hair and
I bought some of the foundation to try.
“Samantha picked outfits I would never
have considered wearing, I loved it so
much I bought the entire outfit.”
2. Mother and toddler group.
The Lady Bird class at the
Balance and Beam Centre on
Festival Park is really good fun for
babies and toddlers. They do
gymnastics and skills
development. The children get
individual attention from the
instructors which is great. It’s
nice to socialise there as well.

Vanessa Rushton, stylist at Keido Hair &
Beauty, Town Road, Hanley, says: “I
started with Michelle’s colour by
bleaching her roots and then adding a
toner all over to give it more of an ash
blonde look.
“Michelle has a brown panel in her
fringe, which we kept and toned in with
the rest of the colour.
“Michelle had an asymmetric hairstyle
which she was trying to grow out, so I cut
it into a chin length bob to even it up.
“To give the look volume I added some
layers, I then cut in a blunt fringe to
make the hairstyle look young and funky.
“After blowdrying and straightening
Michelle’s hair I used a little wax to mess
it up slightly, using Matrix short sexy hair.
“Michelle wanted a style that was easy
for her to manage at home.
“But it’s also versatile, so she can
experiment with different looks.
“Michelle can either have it sleek and
smooth or messy and funky with lots of
added volume.”

Katie Hilton, aged 31 from
Eccleshall, has a 19-month old
son Benjamin. She is recently
married to Richard, 34, and as a
qualified midwife and registered
nurse, decided to launch her own
antenatal care and post
pregnancy services for the
women of Stoke-on-Trent as part
of her new company BabyPrep.
Sentinelle finds out how she
likes to spend time with her
family.
1. Their favourite day out.
We love going to Amerton Farm in
Stafford as it is a cheap and easy
day out and is lots of fun for both
adults and children. They have a
playground which Benjamin loves
to play in as well as a picnic area
for sunny days. They have an
amazing ice-cream parlour where
last year Benjamin had his first
ever ice-cream and we go every
summer.
Cost: Free to get in. Wildlife
Centre costs £1 and every
Wednesday from 1-2pm is
toddlers discount at the Playbarn.

Beauty salon. The bag was £15 and the shoes were
£30 from Dorothy Perkins.

3. Eating Out.
We have had fantastic
experiences at Pizza Hut. When
you have young children you never
know how much they are going to
eat so the buffet is perfect.They
also provide activity packs for the
children which keep them
entertained.
Cost: Children under 3 eat for
free.
4. Sunny days.
We enjoy spending time at our
local park in Eccleshall where they
have a playground which is
divided into sections which are
aimed at different ages. They also
have a small water-park which is
great and we can feed the ducks.

5. Wet ‘n’ Wild.
Wolseley Garden Centre have a
nature trail which has man-made
puddles that children can jump in.
This is really good fun and once
Benjamin put on a pair of wellies
he loved it! The adventure park is
available to all ages and has a
great cafe for relaxing after all
that puddle jumping!

at the Balance and Beam Centre,
Festival Park every Tuesday
evening from 7-9pm. The classes
