JPYC’s 4th of July Weekend
Most members and guests will agree, the 4th of July weekend was the
best yet (especially this season) The weather held out for three nonstop days of perfect sailing weather. 8 – 10 knot breezes from the
north-east kept the harbor fairly empty for the three days. Folks started
arriving before noon on Friday. Friday night was a full house. The
potluck was a cornucopia of dialectic foods and desserts, which tied us
over for Sunday dinner.

Volunteers
Needed
We desperately need your
help!
It is our commitment to keep
the spirit of sailing alive for
our young people. We’ve
partnered with the Chicago
Park District to start up a
youth sailing program in the
Jackson Park Harbor. The
only thing that’s missing is a
few volunteers to be at the
Jackson Park Yacht Club or
in the general vicinity in the
event that a child has become
ill and requires a little
supervision while he/she
waits for his/her parent. It’s
easy. You can watch these
amazing young people learn
to sail, read a book, clean
your boat, do work around the
club or something else. Just
choose a day that works for
you. Sign up at
http://doodle.com/g9gasddptzk
3edzm. Remember to type in
your name and click save.
WHEN: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Monday, Tuesday,
Wednesday, Thursday and/or
Friday
We really need coverage
on the following dates:
Wednesday, July 8th
Friday, July 10th
Tuesday, July 14th
Monday, July 20th
Tuesday, July 21st
Thank you in advance for
your support.

THE SHIP’s STORE
To make room for new
inventory, I will have "old" items
on sale. Sale prices will be
CASH only (not checks or credit
card).
Now is the time to get your club
logo gear for the season. Need
items for Wednesday night
racing? How about those of you
who race in the MAC? Come see
me and let's find something for
you. Or bring me an item you
already have that you would like
the club logo put on. Cost is $8
for this process. Also, tell me
what types of items you would
like to see in the store.
After opening day, don't hesitate
to ask me for help when you see
me around the club for questions
or to purchase something. Daryl
and Ann can also help if there is
something you are interested in
that is already in the
"store." Feel free to contact me
by email at [email protected]
or call me at 815-347-1977.

MAY/JUNE 2015
The Club relies on volunteers for the many tasks needed to keep the Club operating efficiently and to
keep dues at a reasonable level. There is one full-time employee, supplemented with part-time help as
needed. The board of directors is elected at the annual meeting in December, and there are many
committees to plan and execute the events which make for an enjoyable year. All members are
encouraged to help with the governance. and operation of the Club.
"If you are a member, you ARE a volunteer!"

Want to see Jackson Park Yacht Club when the club was merely a
small building sitting on a floating barge? …See FAME racing on the MAC... See the
Club sailing over to Michigan City…. See club members raising the building to higher ground
...We have HOURS of footage from the early 1920’s to 1940. Showings will be announced in
June for Friday nights beginning at 8PM.
