1. INTRODUCTION / WELCOME
The Zambia International Rally is Zambia’s premier motorsport event and is organized each year by
Zambia Motor Sports Association under the jurisdiction of the FIA African Rally Championship. The
Rally is run in compliance with the FIA Regional Rally Sporting Regulations and its appendices, the
National Sporting Regulations which comply with the FIA Regulations and Supplementary Regulations
set aside for this event.
2. EVENT HISTORY
The Zambia International Rally has been run since 1969 and only had a break when rallying came to a
stop from 1976 to 1985 when it was restarted. The event has been run every year since then.

4. EVENT OVERVIEW
This year’s event is similar to last year’s event although some stages have been changed. The Rally
will run in the Farms of Chisamba, North of Lusaka. The course will cover a total distance of
approximately 456.43 kms of which 195.28 kms is made up of Competitive sections. The Rally is
scheduled to run from the 28th to 29th May 2016. The Rally conditions are expected to be dry but cool.
All facilities for service park and special rates for the hotel have been negotiated for intended
participants
and
supporters.

The Rally with start on Saturday 28th May in Chisamba which is about 50 kms due North of Lusaka.
The leg then ends back at Rally Hotel HQ in Lusaka and cars will be kept overnight there. The second
leg will be run east of Lusaka in the Barn Motel area. The event finishes back in Lusaka at the Hotel
Intercontinental on Sunday 29th May 2016 at 14.30.

8. ENTRY DETAILS
Entry forms are available from the Secretary of the Rally. They can be obtained via email [email protected] /
[email protected], and once they have been correctly filled in, must be scanned and sent to the address
provided in item 2.3 above, of these regulations. If applications are sent by fax, the original must reach the
Organiser on or before Saturday 9th May 2016 at final documentation. Details concerning the co-driver can be
sent in up to four days before the start of the Rally.
In the event that the details of the entered vehicle do not correspond with the class in which it has been entered,
the Scrutineers may propose to the Stewards an amendment to move to the corresponding class/group which
decision shall not be subject to debate.

9. ADVERTISING
9.1
The Organisers will require publicity to be carried as shown sketch on Appendix 6. The competition
numbers, rally plates and advertising shall be affixed on the car before scrutineering, otherwise the start shall not
be allowed.
Space for the organisers optional advertising must be reserved on the car, unless the higher fee is paid
(Article12.2)

Plates: The Organisers will supply one front rally plate and one rear rally plate

windows

Reconnaissance will only be allowed for two passages of each special stage for each
crew and will be as per Article 25 of the RRR– FIA Regional Rally Regulations 2016. More
than one crew may share a vehicle.
Specific and or National restrictions (Also refer to ART 15.4 RRR – FIA Regional
Rally Regulations 2016 Traffic Laws)
Maximum speed 80km/hr.
Traversing of the route prior to the event must at all times be carried out within the applicable
speed limits allocated to the various areas.
Competitors are not allowed to practice any section of the route at rally speeds. Safety and
rights of other road users must be respected.
All reconnaissance will be done using series production vehicles. More than one crew
may share a vehicle.

21. FINISH PROCEDURE
After the last Stage on Sunday and the service park at Barn Motel, the cars will be re-grouped and held
in park-ferme. The cars will then proceed to Intercontinental Hotel Lusaka for the Ceremonial Finish on
the Ramp at around 15:00hrs. The winner will go through last as ceremonial finish will be done in
reverse order.
The prize giving will be at the Intercontinental Hotel Lusaka at 17.00hrs.

23. FUEL
The use of aviation fuel (AV GAS) is permitted. The maximum lead content permitted in Zambia is
0.85grams/litre.
23.1 Order Procedure – Competitors who require AV GAS may contact the organisers, for assistance
as to where to purchase the avgas
23.2 Fuel Distribution – Competitors are entirely responsible for providing and distribution of their own
fuel during the rally, however, this will be done only at designated Fuel Parks.
24. TYRES
24.1
The use of slick tyres is prohibited.
24.2 The inside of the tyre (the space between the rim and the internal part of the tyre) must be
filled only with air. In other words, the use of any form of moose which allows the tyres to maintain their
performance at an internal pressure equal to or less than the atmospheric pressure is prohibited.
25. PASSES AND PLATES
All officials, sponsors, crews, organizers will be issued with either and/or ID Cards and Passes for the
event and to enter Rally headquarters at the Rally Hotel.

32. PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS, IMPORT DETAILS
Information about the above can be obtained from the Zambian High Commission in your country or nearest to
your country. As there are at present various changes taking place with regard to all the above, information that is
considered vital and relevant will be placed on the Rally Committee website and will be updated where and when
necessary.
The most effective way to temporarily import a rally vehicle into Zambia is to arrange a Carnet through your local
AA (Automobile Association).
