Owned by White, the company began building Western Stars in 1967 at Kelowna, BC. After Volvo purchased White, Western Star became an independent company based in Canada. Western Star moved production to Portland, OR, in 2002, and is now headquartered in Redford, MI, a subsidiary of Daimler Trucks.
