With the Kuder® Administrative Database Management System, educators are provided tools for tracking individual progress and aggregate trends; managing curriculum and coursework; communicating with students and their parents; and more. Easy Step-by-Step Process Students may complete the following steps in order or select the one that meets their immediate needs. Step 1: Learn About Myself Starting in seventh grade, Navigator offers the researchbased Kuder® Career Search with Person Match (interest assessment) and Kuder® Skills Assessment. High school students can also take Super’s Work Values Inventory-revised to learn what they may value in the workplace. Step 2: Explore Occupations Students can browse and explore occupations included in the O*NET database using a variety of search methods. For middle school students, occupational descriptions are written to their level to ease exploration. Students can read and compare occupational descriptions and save favorites to their portfolio. Step 3: Plan for Education Students are able to explore various options after high school and easily manage their four-year education plan. Students can explore postsecondary schools, financial aid information, and scholarships. Assessment Results Step 4: Plan for Work (High School Students Only) Students can prepare for the job search by creating a résumé, writing a cover letter, reviewing interview tips, and more within this step. Step 5: Find a Job (High School Students Only) Once students have learned about preparing for work, they can learn how to find job openings and research employers. Navigator also contains an e-Portfolio in which users can build and store résumés, collect references, and upload work samples to share with potential employers through a unique URL. Education Planner My Portfolio The My Portfolio section is a place to update account information, view assessment results and education plans; develop a list of career goals; store favorite postsecondary schools; and record information such as educational accomplishments, work experiences, and planning notes. Parents Can Get Involved! Navigator supports parents being involved in their child’s career planning by providing them with a free account. Once logged in, they can access messages and alerts; take a virtual tour; monitor a career planning timeline; view their child’s portfolio; and access informational resources and websites.
