The Philippines Nomadic safaris from island to island Visayas, Magellan & Camiguin The Philippines, a magical archipelago of 7107 islands, hosts an authentic and captivating population. A sense of adventure and evasion prevails in this Latin style country surrounded by warm coral seas. Our experience in this country permits us to offer you the best and take you on a diving discovery with the help of 3 unique and authentic nomadic safaris. In the Visayas, discover enchanting islands such as Cebu, Apo, Siquijor and Panglao, small pieces of paradise protected by rich and colourful reefs. In Malapascua and Lleyte, just like Ferdinand de Magellan, you will go in search of the shy thresher shark and the majestic whale shark. Camiguin, our newest safari, will take you along the magnificent drop offs in Bohol and through the lush jungles of Anda and Camiguin. 2 to 3 dives per day will have you discovering flamboyant colourful reefs and an exceptional fauna : 800 varieties of soft and hard corals, more than 2500 identified coastal fish species: frog fish, ghost pipe fish, dragon fish, leaf fish, hundreds of different nudibranches, jacks, sometimes cruising in only 5 meters of water, banner fish, barracudas, batfish, white tip reef sharks, 10 different species of clown fish, and, with Neptune’s approval, an encounter with a thresher shark or some manta rays may be just around the corner... Join Team Abyss on a nomadic dive safari.... for a unique experience. abyssworld.com Visayas Safari 13 days /12 nights With an 18 meter Bangka (Philippino outrigger boat) as our mode of transport and dive base, 5 complementary and different stages, a selection of charming small hotels, an archipelago where beauty and calm go hand in hand: Welcome to the Visayas ! For more than 15 years, our Team Abyss guides and Philippino mariners have provided divers with all their local knowledge for an enchanting discovery of Cebu, Apo, Siquijor and Panglao. The diving in the Visayas is very easy yet rich in life and colour. The drop offs and coral gardens will surprise both the experienced and beginner diver. Punctuated by land visits providing privileged contact with the locals, this safari is equally destined to accompanying non divers, groups and families. Magellan Safari 13 days /12 nights Just like Ferdinand de Magellan, your expedition will take you to Limasawa, a small island in the region South of Leyte, steeped in history since the Spanish conquest of the 16th century. During your safari you will discover sites such as Malapascua Island, which has a superb white sandy beach and has gained notoriety due to the discreet thresher sharks that patrol the blue waters. Other sites include Calangaman, where we find a long beach of fine sand, Baybay, a charming small village both authentic and welcoming or Gato and Quatro Islas, with their underwater treasures. But don’t forget the majestic whale sharks, that the Philippinos call “bulinao”, which for several months of the year visit the bay of Sogod. Camiguin Safari 13 days /12 nights After a stop in Cebu, followed by a flight to Cagayan de Oro, we travel from island to island, and dive from our specially built bangka, well off the beaten tracks. Duka Bay surprises with its volcanic scenery, small characteristic villages and magnificent dive spots renowned for an impressive macro fauna. Anda and its large surrounding reef will allow for a variation of dives between coral gardens and drop offs patrolled by jacks, turtles, barracudas and groupers. In Bohol, discover the Chocolate Hills and the smallest primate in the world, the tarsier. Finally, discover resplendent Camiguin with its numerous waterfalls, tropical forest and small local markets. There are very few divers in the waters of Camiguin, whereas a huge amount of marine species are present in the archipelago and often observed: ribbon eels, anglerfish, pygmee seahorses, stingrays, manta rays, mandarin fish or even mantis shrimps. Staying in charming local hotels by night and experiencing the beauty and solitude of this area creates a unique diving voyage never to be forgotten.
