Therefore you need to tell the software where to find the timing device, to which COM pot to send the display board data and so forth. The following image illustrates es the settings that are available: § Description:: Is for your convenience only § Encoding: Should always be UTF8 – if any problems arise, please use ASCII § Layer: Allows you to specify the type of port the communication endpoint is connected to – usually this is is Serial and connected with a RS232 cable (possible values are Serial, UdpSender, UdpReceiver, Receiver, TcpServer, TcpClient) § LineBegin/LineEnd:: These values determine the values for differentiating different commands back and forth the communication end point. For ALGE devices, LineEnd always needs to be 13 and LineBegin empty. § SerialSettings:: The values are only used if layer is set to Serial § Baudrate:: The communication speed – this settings needs to be set to the same value as the communication partner (usually (usually on ALGE devices, this is 9600 for timing devices and 2400 for display devices) § Databits, Parity, Stopbits:: Internal parameters – usually they are 8, None, One § Handshake:: Defines the handshaking that takes place, usually, this should be set to Hardware. § Port:: This is the mot important settings next to the baudrate, as it defines the COM port where the communication endpoint is connected to. Clicking on ? – Device Manager and you will find the available COM ports in the category Ports (COM & LPT) Manual Snowboard+Freestyle Page 21 / 24 3.2 Check Ports You can check whether a communication could be opened or was unable to open. To do so, click on ether Timing, Scoring, Display or Infosystem in the lower part of the screen and then click Ports. This will bring up the Port Check window indicating whether the port has been opened or is still closed. If it is still closed, you have to recheck the settings made and after making changes restart the software. Manual Snowboard+Freestyle Page 22 / 24 4 Disciplines 4.1 Single – Giant Slalom, Slalom and Super-G Super 4.1.1 Timing (ALGE) Single competitions are timed by using the TdC 800x in Split mode or the Timy in Stopwatch mode. C0 0 is the start channel and C1 is the finish channel. Several competitors can be timed simultaneously. 4.2 Freestyle – Halfpipe and BigAir 4.2.1 Scoring (ALGE) ALGE Timys can be used as scoring devices for each judge. The Timys need to be connected to each other. In addition to that, dedicated Master ´needs to be connected to the computer. The Master Timy needs to be switched to Terminal program. 4.3 Parallel – Parallel Giant Slalom, Parallel Slalom 4.3.1 Timing (ALGE) – Parallel Course Qualification Parallel qualifications on red and blue course simultaneously are timed by using the TdC 800x or the Timy in Dual Timer mode. C0 is the start art channel for the blue course and C3 is the start channel for the red course. C1 is the finish finish channel for the red course and C4 is the finish channel for the blue course. Only one competitor can be on red and blue course at the same time. 4.3.2 Timing (ALGE) – Single ngle Course Qualification Single course qualifications are timed by using the TdC 800x in Split mode or the Timy in Stopwatch mode. C0 is the start channel and C1 is the finish channel. c Several competitors can be timed simultaneously. 4.3.3 Timing (ALGE) – Finals Parallel finals are timed with the TdC 800x in Parallel Netto mode. C0 needs to be connected to either the startgate or a push button operated by the finish timing operator or the starter herself – this is because all heats need to have a starttime, otherwise no difference times will be calculated. C1 is the finish channel for the red course, C4 C is the finish channel for the blue course. Parallel finals are timed with the Timy in Parallel Diff mode – as long as Parallel Netto is not implemented. No start impulse is needed, therefore C0 is the finish finish channel for the blue course and C1 is the finish channel for the red course. Manual Snowboard+Freestyle Page 23 / 24 4.4 Cross – SnowboardCross ardCross and SkiCross 4.4.1 Timing (ALGE) – Qualification Cross qualifications are timed by using the TdC 800x in Split mode or the Timy in Stopwatch mode. C0 is the start channel and C1 is the finish channel. Several competitors can be timed simultaneously. Manual Snowboard+Freestyle Page 24 / 24
