Refreshments will be served at 1:00pm prior to the meeting. “GOOD GRIEF” Who can forget Charlie Brown and his favorite exclamatory words: “Good Grief!” Grief is our natural and human response to loss. Everyone does it differently, has his own way or her own timetable. We often assume that tears or other outward expressions of grief indicate that someone is having a difficult time of it when those who are more private may be hurting more. You can’t necessarily tell how much a person is grieving from observation. Males generally grieve differently than females, but there are no rules for grieving. Tears are a natural expression of grief, and should not be a source of embarrassment. Tears are a part of our humanity. It is unrealistic to expect someone to “snap out of it” or “get over it” because it has been three months or a year. Grief is not something you can turn loose of. It is something that must be worked through. We grieve over a lot of things, sometimes small losses as well as large ones. Sometimes we grieve knowing that we are getting ready to lose something, or we grieve for ourselves because we are losing our mobility, or something else related to the aging process. It doesn’t mean we are feeling sorry for ourselves. Good grief is honest grief, human grief, natural grief. It is good when we face it, acknowledge it and process it. Dick Lewallen, Director of Spiritual Services *The Chaplain is available for personal consultations and home visits. 454-1379 Come Hear What your Neighbors Are Talking About! The puddles from the rainfall had disappeared. Some sought water in bird baths not knowing they were for birds only. A raccoon was trapped and removed. The possums were out looking too; also a red fox. They are afraid of us. We are very large and scare them. Just stand still and let the wildlife pass. This is nesting season. There can be little’ kits’ or babies waiting for the mother animal to return with the food they need. We do want to share the planet..do we not?
