Being my first Mueller College fete I was overwhelmed by the sense of both pride and love, that those that came had for this wide-reaching school family. As a College that seeks to show God’s love in all that it does, the responsibility on us as a staff, is one we take seriously. Modern and future schooling experts are realizing the importance of strong healthy connections being paramount in providing a positive learning environment. When students feel connected to and cared for by their teachers, they are more open and ready to learn. All children with a Medicare card are eligible for treatment from Prep to Year 10. These classes will be issued with a dental form. Year 10 and 11 students with a Health Care card or who are eligible for the Child Dental Benefit Scheme please come to the Dental Van for a form. A parent will need to attend with any child under 15 years of age. Please return dental consent forms as soon as possible and then an appointment will be issued via class. Please ring 0407 699 721 Monday to Thursday if you require any further information. Parents are asked to please ensure that students do not bring aerosol sprays to school. Some students are allergic to sprays. There is also the potential for misuse. Thank you. Also coming with the simulator will be a RAAF pilot, Air Traffic Controller, and an Air Combat Officer to talk to the students. We're needing a team of sewers who can come and help make some costumes (like the one below) for the Primary Musical "The Little Mermaid". At this stage we would only like adults to help please. This will be happening every Wednesday afternoon in D23, from 3:10pm until 4:30pm beginning on the 4th of May. You only need to have basic sewing skills and a willingness to be part of a team. Sewing machines will be supplied. If you're interested please email Kimberley Phillips at [email protected] for further details. ART/CRAFT HELPERS This term we will be holding a musical art support group and we’re needing some volunteers to help out with this process (grandparents and friends are most welcome) to paint/create props/sets and some costume materials for the Musical. There will be items like Jelly fish, fish on sticks, sting rays and lobsters to start with. You will be working alongside Liat Ham our Primary Art teacher who will be coordinating and demonstrating what to do along with other Primary Teachers from Mueller. You won’t need to be an expert, just have a willingness to learn and be part of a team. This support group will be held every Tuesday afternoon fortnightly beginning the 20th of April in weeks: 2,4,6,8,10 from 3:30pm - 5:30pm or whatever time you can commit to. OPENING HOURS Tuesday: 8am till 11am Thursday: 8am till 11am Phone: 3897 2767 Email: [email protected] OTHER NEWS TENNIS CLINICS BJT BJT is excited to announce it’s newest musical theatre workshop “Beauty and the Beast” for students 5-18 years of age on Thursday Afternoons from 3:30-5:00pm weekly during the School terms. -1- Monday 27th June – Wednesday 29th June -2- Tuesday 5th July – Thursday 8th July School Holiday Tennis Clinics This workshop explores the acting, singing and dancing of Beauty and the Beast scenes and songs each week and culminates with a workshop presentation to parents at the end of 3rd Term. Students learn skills in performance and build fun characters as well as grow in confidence and communication skills. 3 HALF-DAYS OF FUN AND ACTIVITIES 8:00am – 12:00pm Students can enter at any time into the class which costs $20 per class or the cumulative of $200 for 10 week term. Brisbane Jr. Theatre holds workshops on Fridays as well and produces 4 major productions each year during the school holidays. The next BJT production is “Thoroughly Modern Millie” which runs July 1st and 2nd and auditions in early June. There is a Centrelink Rebate available to eligible families.
