ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT We are RAMNATION!
This indicates that for the second straight year the
Lake Mary Athletic Department has had great
success.

Boys Weightlifting:
News and Spotlights
The Boys weight team has started off to a
fine 2-2 record in a very competitive
district, and finished 4th Place in the
Seminole Athletic Conference.
Fast Pitch Softball:
The varsity fast pitch softball team is
currently 13-9, with only 3 games remaining
in the regular season. The team is currently
seated 3rd in the district, after their win over
Seminole on April 1st. The district
tournament will be held the week of April
13-17 at Coraci Sports Complex in Port
Orange.
Boys Weightlifting has four lifters that have
qualified for our sectional meet in their
respective weight classes: Jalen Burgess,
Zack Sharp, Tyler Blackwell, and Bakorey
Davis.
Boys Lacrosse:
The Boys Lacrosse team wrapped up their
second consecutive Seminole County
Athletic Conference Championship with a
convincing 18-4 win over Lake Brantley.
The Rams finished undefeated in
conference play. The team has been
preparing for the playoffs with games
against several of the top teams in the state
and played number one St. Thomas Aquinas
to a tight game that went down to the last
few minutes of the fourth quarter. Zac
Nash –Defense, Kurt Sisco-Midfield, and
Alex Forehand-Attack have played
impressively as of late leading the team in
to a tough district playoff that starts this
week. The team is currently ranked 8th in
the state out of over 180 teams.
Ally Bahng and Jordan Davis are the 2
seniors who lead the team. Ally is the
starting shortstop and an honor student with
a GPA of 4.5. She has been accepted to
UCLA to study medicine. Jordan is the
starting centerfielder and will be attending
Seminole State on a softball scholarship.
The team is working hard to prepare for the
upcoming district tournament.

Girls Lacrosse:
Rebecca Halley, Amanda Klein and Danielle
Tarantino will be representing Lake Mary
High School as NCAA college players in the
fall playing for Saint Leo College, Wingate
University and Ave Maria College
respectively.
The 2015 Lake Mary Girl’s Lacrosse program
made great strides this season and
completed the regular season with a record
of 10 – 5. The team averaged 15 goals per
game while giving up only 8 goals per game.
The team finished the regular season
ranked 25th in the state and defeated the 4th
ranked team in the state late in the season.
The future is bright as we look ahead as the
program only graduates 4 seniors in 2015.
Three of our graduating players will
continue their lacrosse careers on a
collegiate level.

underclassmen Zac Stout, Jake Steel, Jacob
Finegan , and Ethan Goldsmith for years
to come. We are excited for the start of
the playoffs and hope the success we had
during the year will continue as we work
our way to the state series again.
Water Polo
Girls Water Polo:
The girls water polo team has finished
their regular season 18-5, undefeated at
home, in the district, and the conference.
This has led to them being the 1 seed
leading into the district playoff series
starting Monday April 6th. They also
became conference champions for the
second year in a row. The success of this
team is led by seniors Michaela Schulz,
Lauren Olinger, Taylor Geraghty, and
Allison Lo. With their experience and
leadership they have encouraged the
success of underclassmen Angela
Vazquez, Daniela Duarte, Nicole Bucci,
and Natalie Bucci for years to come. We
are excited for the start of the playoffs
and hope the success we had during the
year will continue as we work our way to
the state series.
Track:
Our Lake Mary Rams Boys Track team
took a commanding lead early in the
competition riding strong performances

win the Freshman/Sophomore SAC Meet
for the first time in many years! The team
scored 153 points lead by top scorers
David Shannon scoring 24 points, Andrew
Peterson scoring 22 points and Aaron

performance from the distance runners
lead by Devin Boyle and with all of the
relays scoring 4th or better, the rams

finishing 7th in the state, the boys water
polo team hoped to continue the success
of last year. So far they have been doing
just that. The boys water polo team has
finished their regular season 14-9,
undefeated at home, in the district, and
the conference. This has led to them
being the 1 seed leading into the district
playoff series starting Monday April 6th.
They also became conference champions
for the second year in a row. The success
of this team is led by seniors Joey Orr,
Alex McGee, Chad Fojo, and Drew Blake.

(picture attached):
Ellie Grunder is a
Senior and has been
on the team for the
past 4 seasons. She
has shown
tremendous improvement each season and
finished her career this season having placed 3rd at
the Sub-Sectional Meet and qualified for the
Sectional Meet. Ellie has been a huge asset to the
program over the past 4 seasons. She has the
respect of all of her teammates and makes
everyone around her better through her positive
attitude and encouraging words.
The Varsity girls basketball team finished the
season 22-6. The team finished undefeated in
conference play and were named the SAC
Champions. The team also finished undefeated in
district play during the regular season. The Varsity
team made it to the district tournament
championship game but came up short, finishing as
the district runner-up and earning a trip to the
regional playoffs. The season ended in the next
round of play with a loss on the road to Flagler
Palm Coast.
This year's team was led by a wonderful group of
seniors, all of which gave four years to the girls
basketball program. They are Branda Barns,
Manilia Francois, Hailey Miller, Michaela Keyser,
Vernisha Andrews, and Morgan Ackermann.
Andrews leaves Lake Mary as the single season
rebounding record holder as well as the record
holder for rebounds in a single game. Andrews has
signed to play at the next level with Rollins College.
Ackermann leaves Lake Mary as the record holder
in career three pointers made, single season three
pointers, and three pointers made in a single game.
Ackermann has signed to play at the next level with
Gardner Webb University.
Team Info: This season's team had a nice blend of
returning lifters and new girls. Every girl improved
each week and the team had an outstanding
showing at the SAC/Sub-Sectional Meet by placing
2nd place and only having 11 lifters! We sent 6
lifters to the Sectional Meet and had 4 State
Qualifiers. The future is bright as we are returning
some lifters with great potential!

summer program to help the returners reach their
potential.
Player Spotlight:
Sophomore Brelynd
Gilbert. Brelynd
finished his first year on
varsity averaging 8
points per game and 3

His strength and
explosiveness makes
Brelynd difficult to keep
out of the paint. He has
spent this spring

from long distance as
well as his ball handling. Brelynd will be one of the
better returning juniors in the district next year,
and the coaching staff expects big things from him
next year.

Florida. Three
wrestlers from
the varsity team
qualified to
