1. Follow D.O.T. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations S 392.9, S 393.100, and S 393.102.
2. Inspect before use. Replace worn and deformed
binders. Lubricate pivot and swivel points for optimum performance.
3. Do not operate with anyone on load.
4. Always apply lever binder in a straight line hook-to-hook manner without bending and such that handle goes down when securing load.
5. Tighten binders before moving and re-check frequently.
6. Do not exceed working load limit shown on binder-hand effort will tighten binder to working load limit.
7. Do not use cheater bar or handle extension as their
use can overload binder system and result in injury.
8. Secure handle down with a positive retaining method.
9. Release handle / load with extreme care. Make sure everyone is clear. Lever binder handle can snap back over center. Use open palm under handle and push up.

To avoid injury, operate only by hand from a firm standing
position. Operate handle cautiously. Stay clear of handle
path: handle may release suddenly. Follow instructions.

is cold-drawn tubing instead of welded pipe.
Alloy forged heat-treated hooks, electro-welded links and forged eyebolts.
Bright gold zinc plated to prevent premature oxidation.
One-man operated. Double-action handle has
spring-loaded pawl, which assures constant
engagement of the pawl in the ratchet wheel.
Steel Pawl will always be in the drive or reverse drive operating position at any angle (push-pull).

ratchet turnbuckles for just about any industrial application.

All of Patterson’s patented ratchet turnbuckles feature
barrels made from cold-drawn steel tubing—not from welded
pipe. And all of their turnbuckles are equipped with screw
stops to decrease the chance of accidental disassembly
or loosening.

Hardware
Patterson ratchet turnbuckles are available in a variety of
standard sizes and configurations, and they can also design
to your specifications. Most of their ratchet turnbuckles
feature a spring-activated pawl in the handles, but you can
also order gravity pawl handles. Need barrel hex drives?
Patterson can do that. Hand-wheel or vise-type handles?
They’re available, too. And Patterson's turnbuckles
are available galvanized for reduced maintenance in
saltwater applications.

With a soft, pliable and non-abrasive polyester webbing,
our Truck Tie Down Assemblies are ideal straps for securing
cargo on flatbed trucks and trailers. They’re lighter and
easier to handle than chain load binders, and stronger and
more durable than elastic tension bands. They also adjust
easily in length to fit the size of load you’re hauling.

General Warnings
Products are subject to age, wear and deterioration,
which may cause a reduction in their breaking strength
capacity. We recommend that all products be regularly
inspected and any worn, deformed, misused or
overloaded products should be replaced immediately.
IMPORTANT—please read! Definitions of basic terms
used throughout this section:
Mazzella believes it is the individual responsibility of the
purchaser and those subsequently given the product to use
to assess their particular need and select the appropriate
product for their application.
Breaking strength capacity—maximum load a component
or assembly will withstand before failure, measured
in pounds (lbs).
Warranties—Seller warrants that its goods are free
from defects in materials and workmanship. Accordingly,
Seller’s liability is limited to replacing without charge
or refunding the purchase price, or making fair allowance
for any noncompliance with any specifications or any
defects in materials or workmanship in its products existing
at the time of delivery. Seller requires written notice and
the return of the product to establish any claim. Seller
makes no other warranty of any kind whatsoever, express
or implied, and all implied warranties of merchantability or
fitness for a particular purpose which exceed the
above obligation are hereby disclaimed by seller and
excluded. Seller will not be liable for any consequential
damages, loss, or expense arising in connection with
the use or inability whatsoever, regardless of weather
damage, loss, or expense results from any act or failure
to act by Seller, whether negligent or willful, or for
any other reason.

In any given assembly, the component with the lowest
breaking strength capacity will probably fail first. For
example, a standard web binder assembly with a breaking
strength capacity of 12,000 lbs. anchored to a device
with a breaking strength capacity of 5,000 lbs. will
fail at 5,000 lbs.
It is important that tie downs be attached to components
that are of sufficient strength to properly secure the load.
We can help you determine the right components to
optimize your assembly performance.
Working load capacity—as the name implies, this refers
to the maximum “working” load a component or assembly
should be subjected to during use. For your safety,
“working load capacity” equivalent to no more than
one-third (1/3) the breaking strength capacity of
the component or assembly.

Rated load capacity—these are industry or legislative
standards and may vary from industry to industry
or state to state, respectively. For example, the 1987
California Highway Patrol rating for flatbed tie downs is
established at 70% of the breaking strength capacity
of web binders, or 80% of the breaking strength capacity
or force required to cause permanent distortion of
component hardware, whichever is less.
Do not use for overhead lifting.
Do not use if strap webbing is cut. Webbing must be
protected from edges.
All hardware must be in line with direction of pull for rated capacity. Use binder in accordance with federal
(DOT title 49) and State (CA title 13) regulations.
Inspection—assemblies must be inspected for worn or
damaged parts. Failure to replace worn or damaged
assemblies or components may result in serious personal
injury if failure occurs.
It is the owner’s and user’s responsibility to determine
suitability of a product for any particular use. Check
all applicable industry, trade association, federal, state
and local regulations. Read all operating instructions
and warnings carefully.
All ratings shown in this section are based on the
product being new, and used in normal environmental
conditions. Special care should be taken under
extreme or unusual working conditions. Particular
caution should always be exercised to avoid exposing
webbing products to sharp or abrasive edges or acids.
