Anthony Ambrosia is the son of Chuck
Ambrosia and Glenda Ambrosia.
Anthony’s future plans are to become a
gunsmith. While at school, Anthony is
involved in Art Club and Renaissance. He
is also a member of the basketball team.
Anthony enjoys working on the family
farm with his dad, hunting, football, and
basketball.
Trever Bunch is the son of Becky Bunch
and Rick Bunch. Trever plans to attend
Missouri Western next fall. At BHS, Trever
has been involved in Drama Club, Art
Club, and FBLA. He attended Vo-Tech
where he trained to become an Emergency
Medical Technician. Trever is also a member of the track team. He worked at TSU
with Sodexho. In his leisure time, Trever
enjoys attending Renaissance fairs, airplanes, history, reading and shooting guns.
Shelbie Creason is the daughter of Joie and
Teresa Creason. Shelbie plans to attend
college and major in Interior Design. Art
Club, FBLA, and Spanish Club are a few
things Shelbie enjoys at BHS. She also
finds time to babysit and attend church.
Shelbie enjoys reading, fishing, swimming,
playing video games, watching TV, being
creative, and spending time with family
and friends.
John Hicks is the son of Kathryn Hicks
and Eddie Hicks Sr. John’s future plans
are in forestry. While at BHS, John has
been involved in Art Club and
Renaissance. At home, John enjoys
working on cars and hunting.
Danielle Hoskin is the daughter of Dana
and Bruce Bunch and Mark Hoskin.
Danielle’s future plans are to attend
Northwest Missouri State University. She
has been involved in FBLA and Art Club
while attending BHS. She currently
works for Sodexho at TSU. In her leisure
time, Danielle enjoys reading and
drawing.
Tabitha Killen is the daughter of Mike and Brenda
Killen. She plans to attend TSU and major in
Health Science or Pre-Med. She then plans to
attend UM-KC to pursue a Master of Science in
Anesthesiology. Her school activities include
FBLA, Math and Science Club, Drama Club, and
NHS. Tabitha is also a member of the softball
team and ACademic Bowl teams. She attends the
Countryside Christian Church and Youth Group.
When she can find time, Tabitha enjoys sewing,
baking, hunting, watching sports, and hanging out
with friends.
Daisy Ledford is the daughter of Donnie and
Kathleen Ledford. Daisy’s future plans are to get a
job. While at BHS, Daisy has been a member of the
Art Club and is a Renaissance card holder. In her
spare time, Daisy enjoys Special Olympics and the
YES program. Daisy has a lot of school spirit and is
a loyal tiger fan.
Stephanie Linhart is the daughter of Rob and
Billie Linhart. Stephanie is planning to attend
MACC majoring in music. Her school activies
include softball, band, choir, Drama Club, FBLA,
and Math & Science Club. She also enjoys
attending her Youth Group. In her spare time
Stephanie loves bowling, collecting Dalmatians,
hanging with friends and family, reading the
Bible, watching movies, and listening to all types
of music.
Abdu Mohammed is visiting us from Ethiopia.
His host family is Jim and Daisy Rearick. Abdu
plans to attend medical school in the future. For
his short time at BHS, Abdu has been involved
in Math & Science Club, FBLA, and Art Club.
In his leisure time, Abdu enjoys playing soccer
and bastketball.
Phillip Seavey is the son of Phillip A. Seavey
and Lynn Flynn. Phillip transferred to BHS this
year from Kirksville. His future plans are in
wrestling. When Phillip is not at school, he
enjoys skateboarding and bicycle stunts.
Ashlee Sheets is the daughter of Deanna Draper
and James Sheets. Ashlee’s future plans are to
become a pediatrician. While at BHS, she has
enjoyed being involved in Renaissance, Art
Club, and Spanish Club. When not at school,
Ashlee works as a babysitter. In her spare time,
she enjoys volleyball and basketball.
Ariel Smith is the daughter of Beverly
McKim. Ariel is planning to attend MACC
with an interest in business. While at BHS,
she has enjoyed cheerleading. Her club
activites include FBLA and Art Club. Ariel
also works at Sodexho. In her leisure time she
enjoys reading, camping, watching movies,
and spending quality moments with family
and friends.
Daniel Smith is the son of Brad and Louise Smith.
Daniel plans to attend Northwest Missouri State
University to achieve an education degree in Ag
Science. He is a member of the baseball and basketball
teams. Daniel’s school activities include Art Club,
FBLA, NHS, Math & Science Club and Student
Council. He also finds time to work on the family farm.
In his spare time, Daniel loves hunting, fishing, and
hanging out with friends.
Katie Stewart is the daughter of Eddy and Carla
Stewart. Katie’s future plans are to attend Central
Methodist University and major in Early Childhood
Development. Katie has been on the cheerleading
squad all four years at BHS. She is also a member of
FBLA, Art Club, and Renaissance. Katie’s extra
activities include volunteering for Parents as Teachers,
Jump for Heart, and United Way. She also babysits and
works at McDonalds. When Katie can find time, she
enjoys hunting, fishing, shopping, cadeting the
kindergarden class, and hanging out with friends and
family.
Megan Taylor is the daughter of Dick and Robin
Taylor. Megan plans to attend MACC then
transfer to Northwest Missouri State University
and major in Psychology. While at BHS, Megan
has been involved in FBLA, Art Club, Math &
Science Club, and Student Council. She is also a
memeber of the basketball team. Megan attends
4-H and Church of the Nazarene Youth Group,
Megan’s hobbies are riding horses, reading, and
playing basketball.
Matt Thomas is the son of Doug and Becky
Thomas. Matt’s future plans are to attend
William Woods University and major in
Physical Education. He is also planning to play
baseball for the Owls next fall. While at BHS,
Matt has been on the baseball and basketball
teams. His other activites include FBLA, Art
Club, NHS, Math & Science Club, and Student
Council. His interest are baseball and hanging
out with friends.

Congratulations Class of 2010
The Class of 2010 was one of the best
and brightest that BHS has sent forth
into the real world over the last
several decades. This class proved
their mettle during their time here by
working hard on their academics, as
well as by serving the local
community with many various
volunteering efforts. This work was
rewarded by the class earning over
$500,000 dollars of scholarship
money for their respective futures.

all will travel.

Homecoming 2010 was an exciting time thoughout
the halls of BHS. The cheerleaders prepared a brand
new dance, the basketball teams were practicing for
the big game, and the rest of the student body was
ready to celebrate the week at the homecoming
dance. Anthony Ambrosia and Megan Taylor were
crowned King and Queen, while Hayden Housman
and Olivia Thompson were selected Prince and
Princess. The week’s activies culminated with a
raucous pep assembly, the Lady Tigers defeating
Novinger 50-35, the Tigers dropping a hard fought
game 62-50 to the Wildcats, and the fun-filled dance
following the game.

District Tournament

The Lady Tigers finished off another successful year by
posting a 10-5 record. The Lady Tigers were led by four
All-Tri County Conference team picks: Abby McKim,
Cierra Hines, Shelby Salter, and Katie Watson. The softball
team won the consolation championship at the Atlanta
Tournament, while the JV squad took 2nd place at the
Schuyler County JV tourney. After a hard fought loss in the
opening round of the district tournament to Marion
County, the Lady Tigers hope to rebound next year by
returning all but two players back to next year’s squad.

Our Champions
The 2010 Brashear Tiger Baseball team experienced enough thrills to last a
lifetime. The fall squad shared another TCC championship, but that success
was only a taste of what was to come during the spring baseball season. After
posting a 7-4 regular season record and dropping their last three regular season
ballgames, the Brashear Tigers caught lightning in a bottle at just the right time.
The Tigers made enough plays to pull out victories during district play: a hard
fought 2-0 game against Green City; a walk-off homerun by Adam Songer to
defeat Canton 5-3; and, a come-from-behind victory over Atlanta 16-7 for the
district championship. The Tigers got timely hitting and rode the arm of AllState selection Matt Thomas. Fortunately, districts were an appetizer. The
Tigers went to Cairo and won 4-1 in sectionals, and turned around two days
later and defeated Sturgeon 3-2 at Doc Gardner Field in Kirksville. The
quarterfinal victory over Sturgeon assured the Tigers of some state-bound
hardware for the trophy case. The Tigers were not content to merely get to the
Final Four in Springfield; they wanted to win it all. In the state semi-final, Matt
Thomas pitched seven strong innings, and Hayden Housman scored from
second base on an Adam Songer fielder’s choice. Housman’s speed and Coach
Heath Schneider’s aggressive coaching decision allowed Brashear to take a 3-2
advantage, and the Tigers held on as Matt Thomas finished off the Cooter
Wildcats to advance to the Class 1 State Championship game. In the
championship game against the Concordia Orioles, the Tigers fell behind early
by allowing four runs in the top of the first. The Tigers fought back, but were
only able to plate one run by Nick Thomas in the bottom of the third. Despite
four come-from-behind rallies for wins during the post-season, a championship
season was not meant to be. The Tigers’ season and championship dreams came
to a close losing to the Concordia Orioles 6-1. The Tigers’ overall record of 135 capped off an historical, and often times, magical baseball season; one that
will not soon be forgotten. The successful 2009-2010 baseball seasons
produced many individual accomplishments, in addition to the state runner-up
finish. Junior Hayden Coin’s stellar play was rewarded with a 1st Team AllTCC honor. Sophomore third baseman Nick Thomas was selected 2nd Team
All-TCC. Junior Cody Snelling also picked up 2nd Team All-TCC honors as
well as All-State accolades for his offensive and defensive work for the Tigers.
Senior Matt Thomas earned the conference MVP award, 1st Team All-TCC,
and All-State for his work both on the mound and at the plate. Coach Schneider
was also selected as the TCC Coach of the Year, as well as Kirksville Daily
Express Coach of the Year status. The Tigers lose three seniors in Matt Thomas,
Daniel Smith, and Abdu Mohammed, but return a strong nucleus of talent for
next several years. Hopefully, the Tigers will make deep runs in the post-season
a regular occurrence.

throughtout the season as they
perpared themselves for their
future careers at the carsity level.
After struggling with some early
season losses, the team shoewed
promise by winning five of six
games in the middle of the season. The team featured a solid
core of players that will both
remain at the junior high level as
well advance on to the varsity

Junior High Boys Make Strides
The 2009 junior high basketball Tigers made great strides
throughout the season. Eleven players contributed over the
course of the year. The season was highlighted by a 3rd
place finish at the Green City Tournament and the squad also
defeated the Mary Immaculate 7th/8th grade team both times
that they faced them. Four ninth graders will move up to
varsity next year and try to contribute to the varsity Tigers.

Up and Down Year for Tigers
The 2010 Tigers put together three and
four game win streaks during the season.
Unfortunately, they pieced together five
and six game losing streaks as well. The
Tigers placed 4th at the Novinger
Tournament and took consolation during
the Brashear Tournament. Individually,
the Tigers had two 1st Team All-TCC
players in Matt Thomas and Anthony
Ambrosia. Ambrosia earned 1st Team
Northeast All-District Team, while
Thomas was selected to the 2nd team.
Additionally, the Kirksville Daily Express
honored Matt Thomas with Honorable
Mention All-Express honors. Both
Thomas and Ambrosia graduate this year
so the squad will look forward to a good
nucleus of players returning for the 20102011 season.

The 2010 Junior High
Academic Bowl season was a
huge success. The Junior High
squad finished with an 8-4
record and placed 2nd in the
Tri-County Conference
Tournament. This group of
competitors featured four ninth
graders that will work to
advance to the varsity squad
next year. Eighth grader Sam
Smith earned All-TCC for his
performance at the conference
tournament. This group will
look to continue the success of
the varsity group by working to
attain conference titles.

Five-Peat!!! ...Six?
The BHS varsity academic bowl squad won
its fifth consecutive TCC Tournament in
2010. The team went undefeated in the
regular season and carried that momentum
into the conference tournament. During the
conference tournament, BHS defeated
Atlanta, LaPlata, Bevier, and Bucklin en
route to its fourth straight title defense. The
squad won its first three competitions by an
average of 200 points, while beating Bucklin
for the title by a “mere” 50 points. The
academic bowl participants played well at
districts, but ultimately were defeated by
North Shelby as NS upset BHS twice on the
final day of the season. Regardless of the
disappointing final outcome, the season was
a tremendous success. Jay Scudder earned
MVP honors for his high scoring
performance at the TCC tournament. Nick
Thomas also earned all-TCC accolades for
his efforts. The squad returns most of its
scoring for next year and prepares to go after
a six-peat.

The 2010 Track season was a
busy one for the track athletes
at BHS. All of the squads
competed well at the conference
track meet with both the varsity
and junior high boys finishing
6th. The varsity girls placed 5th
and the junior high girls stole the
show by winning the meet. At
the district track championships,
the varsity teams displayed
many solid performances which
was good for a 10th place
showing for the girls and an 11th
place showing for the boys.

The 2009-2010 school year produced another successful bunch of future business leaders. In
addition to FBLA Week activities that increased school spirit and helped raise membership for
the club, the students in FBLA were garnering high marks in competitions at the local and state
levels. At the District 3 FBLA contest Jay Scudder placed first in Accounting and Technology
Concepts; Tabitha Killen placed first in Sports Management and second in Accounting; the
Business Ethics team of Chandi March, Sydney Slavin, and Ashton Wolter placed first; Matt
Thomas placed second in Marketing; and Nick Thomas placed second in Introduction to
Business Communications. These students competed at the state competition in Columbia and
Tabitha Killen qualified to advance to the National FBLA contest in June. The following students
received medals at the district contest: Katie Stewart, Client Services, 2nd place; and Daniel
Smith, Job Interview, 3rd place. Congratulations also to the following students who placed in the

Student Council
The student council donned trashbags and smiles for a worthy
cause. This group of student government leaders raised over $600
for the relief efforts of the people of Haiti who were devastated
by an earthquake that killed hundreds of thousands of Haitians.

The 2009-2010 school year brought the school a lot of change. Part of that
change will be some new faces for the 2010-2011 school year. All of our
staff have positively affected each and every one of the students in our
district, however, the accomplishments of Mr. Steven Kerr, Mrs. Shelley
Wood, Ms. Jeanie Casady, Mrs. Wendy Kerby, and Mrs. Denise Brown are
greatly appreciated for their dedicated work to the district. Each departing
staff member will travel their own particular journey in life, but we hope
they will remember with fondness their time spent at Brashear. Thanks for
all that you have done to influence the students of our school. Good luck
with all of your future plans and endeavors.
