at Gwinnett Medical Center-Duluth
Advanced Digital Imaging Technology
Digital imaging is similar to taking a photo with a
digital camera. Specially designed digital detectors
produce an image that can be immediately displayed
on a high-resolution computer monitor. The image
is then stored and transmitted electronically to
radiologists for viewing at all locations.
Digital imaging has many advantages, including
improved image quality and instant access. In
addition, digital imaging provides radiologists the
ability to manipulate images for improved accuracy
of interpretation. All images are digitally transferred
between locations via our Picture Archiving and
Communication System (PACS). So no matter which
location you choose, you are sure to receive the benefit
of the latest technology and expert interpretation. Your
physician will also have instant access to your results
either through PACS or a compact disc (CD).
