A Message From Head of Project Management Office (PMO) At Ufone In today’s highly competitive and fast paced technology industry, organizations need strong aggressive project managers and leadership to meet the ever-evolving business development goals. While studying at SZABIST, I felt that it was the right place to learn project management because both the faculty and the curriculum successfully meet the students’ requirements to cope up with the (PMP®) current market challenges. It was quite an experience to study project management at SZABIST. It is no exaggeration to say that teaching at SZABIST is an experience of its own kind. I have been teaching here for last four years as a visiting faculty and during this tenure, I have taught students ranging from fresh Bachelors graduates to mature retired professionals. Teaching such variety of personnel from different walks of life, gives you an opportunity to learn and explore new areas It is worth mentioning that the support staff at SZABIST is very cooperative and try their best to accommodate the visiting faculty in all possible ways. Admissions are offered twice a year: Fall & Spring. With more than 1000 students already graduated, we have the most widespread alumni nationwide. More than 50 students of SZABIST Islamabad have obtained PMI certification of Project Management Professional (PMP). MPM provides students with the tools and techniques to manage dayto-day activities of projects of different nature. The course is designed for people from all walks of life. For practicing project managers, it is a guide to enhance their capabilities and to solve typical problems that may arise from time to time. The concepts, principles and techniques taught in this course are based on, but not limited to, the Project Management Institute (PMI) framework, which is universally accepted and practiced. The program takes about a calendar year. To obtain the MPM degree, 9 courses and 2 Computer Base Training (CBT) projects must be completed. Each taught course comprises 16 classes of 3 hours each. Computer software and related material along with technical assistance is provided to students to assist in preparing their projects after training. Classroom seminars, project management related games, visits to project sites, and guest lectures from international speakers are part of this program. MPM to MS(PM) Bridge Track: Non-BBA students wishing to pursue MS(PM), are recommended to first start with MPM and then bridge over to MS(PM) automatically by taking two additional research courses and six credits of research. All of this can be done within two years. I owe a lot of gratitude to SZABIST for providing me quality education. Discover Yourself MS (PM) S ZABIST offers an MS Degree (M. Phil. Equivalent) in Project Management. The purpose of this program is to provide research-based project management education related to a student's field of interest. By providing the requisite skills and knowledge, the program paves the way to pursue doctoral studies. Recognizing that concentrated studies are a challenge for working professionals during regular weekdays, we have designed MS in Project Management as a weekend program. The classes are offered on Saturdays and Sundays. A total of ten courses (including a 6-credit thesis) take a minimum of 1.5 years to complete. To obtain the MS degree, the student should have successfully completed a minimum of 30 credit hours, and have passed the GAT examination. The maximum time limit to complete the MS degree is five years. Eligibility For admission in MS Program, the candidate must have: Sixteen years of education from HEC any recognized educational institution with minimum 2nd division 55% marks / CGPA 2.50 and one year work experience in managing projects. Candidates with non-business undergraduate degrees are encouraged to start in our MPM program and then transfer to MS(PM) program under the “MPM-MS(PM) bridge track”. I did Software Engineering from NUST in 2001. Despite having experience in management, my formal education in this field was sorely lacking. Then in 2013, I started my MS in Project Management at SZABIST. The faculty was what really set this Kamran Azhar program apart: All of the instructors Project Manager, were quite distinguished in their Haris Enterprises (Pvt) Limited fields of study and have easily accessible. This program has truly been a positive experience for me. I have no hesitation in stating the fact that I found SZABIST as the best institute in Project Management.
