Hall of Fame, died suddenly on
Sunday , September 4, 2011
after suffering a massive stroke
on Friday 9/2. He was 56 years old.
Leroy was the first member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneer Ring of Honor in
2009.
He went to 6 consecutive Pro Bowls before injury ended his career.
And he remains the record holder for sacks (78.5)and forced fumbles
(28.5)
He was named College Defensive Player of Year in 1975, and NFL
Defensive Player of the Year in 1979
Leroy’s #63 is the only number retired by the Buccaneers.
Tampa Bay has lost another giant. He was born in Eufala OK on October
20, 1954, the youngest of nine children. He played Football at Oklahoma
alongside two brothers Dewey and Lucious. He won the Lombardi,
Outland Trophies. OU won National Championships in 1974 and 1975
with Leroy as there top defender. He was an Academic All American
Dewey followed Leroy to the Buccaneers (3R Pick 1976)

Bucs history Benn, the 39th player chosen in the
draft is a physical player that gains bubig yardage
after the catch, and Mike Williams could be a 4th round seal. He started in the opener @
Miami and made a spectacular 30 yard catch over his shoulder the first time Josh Freeman
threw toward him.
