STRATEGY Our three-prolonged strategy for pursing the mission is: • Ensuring that our children are well-educated and equipped for economic self-reliance; • Helping adults attain economic self-sufficiency through good jobs, home ownership, entrepreneurship and wealth accumulation; • Ensuring our civil rights by eradicating all barriers to equal participation in the economic and social mainstream of America. METHODS The Greater Baltimore Urban League movement carries out its mission through direct services, advocacy, research, policy analysis, community mobilization, collaboration and communications. AREAS OF SERVICE Education We value education as a key component for living a healthier and more prosperous life. Our education and youth development programs provide young people with the critical skills they need to excel academically, avoid at-risk behavior and become engaged members in their communities. College preparation, job readiness, and leadership development are some of the many educational advancement tools offered. Jobs We are committed to strengthening the family unit by promoting economic self-sufficiency. Through training, career building and job placement services, we help equip individuals with tools needed to enter or re-enter the workforce. Our center for working Families offers a full range of essential economic resources for low-income residents to help them succeed in the workforce, stabilize their finances and build assets. Housing We are dedicated to building thriving communities through strong economic infrastructure. Our housing programs offer families long-term, sustainable solutions that focus on building assets through savings and home ownership. Our wealth accumulation services include financial literacy education, budgeting, credit counseling, homeownership, foreclosure prevention and loan modification. Health We believe that health and wellness education is the key to optimal growth for our children and families. Our health programs are designed to ensure that preventative care advances and vital health resources reach those who need the most. PROGRAMS & SERVICES Baltimore AUG 3- AUG 6, 2016 Saturday Leadership Program is designed to model and teach leadership skills to students in grades 8-12 by pairing small groups with college level mentors for college tours and workshops to inspire success in school, career, college and community life. Young Professionals provides improvement for the quality of life for African American professionals between the ages of 21-40, and other minorities in Baltimore City & beyond through real world education, financial empowerment, political empowerment, public health and professional development. The Guild is a volunteer auxiliary to the Greater Baltimore Urban League. Guilders participate in fundraising and help to develop leadership skills in others and engage them in local community issues. Guilders range from 40-95 years of age and are considered the heart & soul of the Greater Baltimore Urban League. Certification Center is a local testing facility designed to offer testing and workforce development. Partnerships with the top testing organizations such as ertiport, Thompson Prometric, Castle Worldwide, PAN, and Pearson Vue grant students the advantage of testing in a familiar and local environment. Living Well Matters is a community based mental health counseling practice designed to offer support and guidance to the whole person, body and spirit, for individual, group or family counseling offered to primarily women, those they love, and teens.
