Councils having more than 60 units shall be entitled to further nominations on the basis of one for each additional 60 units or fraction thereof in their territory, as of December 31 preceding the nomination, according to the records of the national office. g) Councils not using their full allotment in any year may accumulate the unused portion for use in any subsequent year. h) In extraordinary cases, the Silver Beaver Award may be made by the National Court of Honor to a Scouter upon the recommendation of the duly constituted Scouting authorities having supervision of one or more units of the Boy Scouts of America, located outside of the United States and not under the jurisdiction of a local council. Using Internet Advancement 1. Go to sagamorebsa.org and click on Internet Advancement link 2. Create an account as a First-Time User using your Unit ID. If you do not have this, call Sagamore Council and we can provide it for you. 3. If your Unit Number is a Troop, make sure you add a zero in front of the three-digit number. 4. Follow the instructions on the webpage to Load Roster. This will allow you to see all the current information for your scouts. 5. Begin entering advancements. 6. When you are done, print out two copies of the report: one to be signed for the Council and one for your unit’s records. If there are ranks entered, two additional signatures from the Board of Review will be required. Note: In order to receive awards from the Scout Shop, you will need to print out the advancement report and give a copy to our Scout Shop. It is not an automatic process. Benefits of Internet Advancement: Provides a straightforward and intuitive system for volunteers Helps in local council certification of Eagle Scout Rank Applications Records ranks, badges, and awards in accordance with BSA rules Assures advancement is counted in Journey to Excellence On every page, there is an FAQ link if you are having problems. Because of documentation requirements, the Eagle Scout rank may not be entered through the system. Neither may nominated recognitions such as meritorious action awards. Change in Unit Registration Status A change in the national reporting of membership data will begin effective January 1, 2016. Starting then, a unit that has not reregistered by its expiration date will be considered “separated” and immediately dropped from BSA’s membership reporting. There will no longer be a “lapse period” for units that do not reregister on time. The new definition will begin with units that have an effective date of January 1, 2016. This means that units with a December 31, 2015 expiration date will be included. Volunteers will retain access to MyScouting, MyScouting tools, Internet Rechartering and Internet Advancement for 30 days after their unit has expired and become separated. This will impact your Scouts. Any Unit that is not reregistered by December 31, 2015, Will not be able to participate in any activities what so ever or purchase Advancements. Once a separated unit has been reregistered, the unit tenure will be retroactive and they will once again be able to participate in Activities and purchase Advancements. Also, Scouts tenure for rank advancements will be retroactive once the separated unit reregisters. Boy Scouts of America Sagamore Council FRIENDS OF SCOUTING CAMPAIGN FAMILY ENROLLMENT SIGN-UP SHEET Unit # District: Dear Scouter: To assure the quality of Scouting in the Sagamore Council, a Friends of Scouting Finance Campaign is conducted annually to educate parents on Council resources, camping facilities, training programs and available activities. We will also share with parents information about how our Council is financed and provide parents the opportunity to provide support. This happens during the early part of the year at a unit meeting where parents are in attendance. At this time a presentation is given that covers the benefits of Scouting. The presentation usually happens at a Pack Meeting, Court of Honor, or other appropriate time. Please consider setting an early presentation date to ensure a successful campaign. Our “pacesetter” units are those that schedule their presentations in December/January to “set the pace” for our campaign.
