I was prepared for them to be funny. What I wasn’t prepared for was these guys are flat-out GREAT. These guys can really, REALLY, play and sing...” August 3 & 4 Saturday & Sunday on the gorgeous shady Collins Pine Lawn in Chester Saturday 10AM–5PM • Sunday 10AM–4PM One of Northern California’s oldest and most respected fine art & crafts shows. Food & live music. Free admission, plenty of parking. 283-3402 Plumas Arts has long wanted to coordinate a community event based around the traditional Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos), a Mexicanborn celebration of family and friends to honor and remember loved ones and our collective heritage. In discussions with friends and folks familiar with the cultural tradition we are getting excited about possibilities for a local event this coming Nov. 1. Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars honoring the deceased and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed. We’ll start with ideas based in the tradition and make the event uniquely our own... Color, Music, Art, Food, maybe even a Parade. We will only be limited by our collective creativity and that has proven to be endless and exciting. The Capitol Art Gallery will challenge and invite artist to create work based in the tradition for our November show. The rest will be in the hands of those who are as excited about the idea as we are. Become a part of it! We are forming a committee to envision and execute a multiplicity of aspects of what we know will become a wonderful new event. Give an email or a call to Roxanne if you would like to get involved. Meetings of interested parties will begin in the coming weeks. “Antsy sees trailer park culture as an extension of America’s pioneer spirit as we conquered the Old West. His band takes this legacy and put it to song, calling it folkabilly and keeping their roots solidly in rock and roll.” Thursday July 25, 2013 Quincy Town Hall Theatre His live shows touch upon Country, Rockabilly, Jazz, Swing, and a number of Pop culture references.
