TIPS FOR HOLIDAY STRESS RELIEF
Coping with holiday stress need not be difficult. Here are some tips
for stress relief for the holidays:
Adopt positive thinking
Be positive about things. Instead of thinking of every problem that
could befall, think of everything that could go well. Stop worrying
about how your family and friends will think about the party or
whether they will like the food, the gifts, etc. Instead, mentally rehearse how you will prepare yourself to handle these situation
should it arise. This will reduce your anxiety and make you feel
more at ease and confident to handle any problems, putting a stop
to further “wheel-spinning” worries.
Give yourself a break
In preparing for the holidays, you will tend to stress yourself out
both physically and mentally. So take a break. Indulge in activities
and hobbies that will help you de-stress like listening to music at a
quiet corner of your house, reading a book or taking a walk with
your dog in the park. Just simply take your mind off the holidays and
forget about it for a while. Then you will be more refreshed when
you get back to preparing for the holidays.
Stay Healthy
Overeating, drinking, and late nights are expected of holiday parties
and gatherings, so make sure you keep a conscience effort to stay
healthy. Keep to your routine as much as possible, get sufficient
sleep and rest and keep unhealthy food to a minimum. It will save
you from unnecessary stress after the holidays when you need to
shed those extra pounds. Keeping fit will help maintain a healthy immune system, which will help you in fighting off the effects of stress.
Holidays are meant to be enjoyed and can be a time to catch up
with old friends and family members. It’s not meant to create more
stress on you. So, learn to relax. Things will fall in place! Stop worrying. Instead, try to keep focused on the things that you really enjoy about holidays and those memories will keep the hassles in perspective. To your stress free Holidays!
RECOGNITION DAY
Join us on Friday, December 30th at the Wellness &
Recovery Center to celebrate Recognition Day. Recognition
Day takes place at the beginning of the day. Participants
receive and give positive feedback for successes throughout the month, little successes and big ones too! You can
get an “A” for effort! We talk about the importance of goal
setting and working towards a positive outcome. This is a
good time to practice speaking in front of others in the
group, by sharing your personal insights, feelings and
thoughts. There are a few rewards, too.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Afterwards, we have a nice meal and cake to celebrate
any birthday in the current month. Many thanks go out to
Clara, Cindy and the kitchen volunteers. If you are celebrating a birthday, please join us. Even if you can’t make it in for
the Recognition Group, please come for the meal and birthday celebration. We hope you join in the fun celebration!

The True Meaning Of Christmas
Jesus Christ was born this day
So many years before
He became a servant to the lost
Though he was Lord of Lords
We celebrate this joyous time
Reflecting on His birth
Not born in a mansion, but a stable
As if He had no worth
He came so He could identify
With the human heart of man
And gave His life as a sacrifice
Offering a better plan
A plan that reconciles us back
To our loving Father God
Bringing hope and redemption from
Sins ruling iron rod
For this is the only reason that we
Should celebrate this day
To become focused on anything else
Would take the meaning away
So let’s arise with joy in our hearts
And share it with everyone
The meaning of Christmas will always be
The birth of Jesus – God’s son

Important Information about Your Cell Phone
4 Things you might not have known about your Cell Phone
For all the folks with cell phones. (This should be printed and kept in your car, purse, and wallet. Good
information to have with you.) There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies. Your
mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival.
Check out the things that you can do with it:
FIRST (Emergency)
The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112. If you find yourself out of the coverage area of your
mobile network and there is an Emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to
establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly, this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is
locked. Try it out.
SECOND (Hidden Battery Power)
Imagine your cell battery is very low. To activate, press the keys *3370#. Your cell phone will restart with this
reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge
your cell phone next time.
THIRD (How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?)
To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following Digits on your phone:*#06#
A 15-digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it
somewhere safe.
If your phone is stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to
block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably
won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does
this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.
FOURTH (Free Directory Service for Cells)
Cell phone companies are charging us $1.00 to $1.75 or more for 411 information calls when they don't have to.
Most of us do not carry a telephone directory in our vehicle, which makes this situation even more of a problem.
When you need to use the 411 information option, simply dial:
(800) FREE411 or (800) 373-3411 without incurring any charge at all. Program this into your cell phone
now. This is sponsored by McDonald's.

Archway’s Complaint Procedure
About the Procedure:











It’s meant to be quick and EASY
Just follow the 3 steps on the form
Forms are posted throughout the agency
Ask anyone to help support you
ALWAYS try to talk with the person to work things out
The BEST way is to talk to the person directly
If that’s not possible, talk to your TEAM LEADER
There is NO TIME LIMIT on how long to do that
Chantal Simpson, Admin. Specialist, reviews all complaints &
will try to resolve things if that becomes necessary
If necessary, Executive Director (Lou) gets INVOLVED
The Board’s Executive Committee makes FINAL decision
How to Avoid Using the Complaint Procedure
Remember, many times things can be worked out if people just talk things out. If you really think
someone’s done you wrong, try to tell the person what you’re feeling. It’s important to do that
respectfully. It’s important to be open, honest, and adult-to-adult. A beginning conversation might go
something like this, “When you did ____, it made me feel ____.” Sometimes it helps to practice what
you’re going to say. Try it!
If you have any questions about this procedure,
call Chantal Simpson at 777-3208 Ext.104
Summary of Complaints
